I see Stephen Donnellys half hearted intervention over the Navan Hospital situation is being ignored by the HSE. I'm not doubting the need for a Decision to be made, just find it extraordinary yet again the political expediency of Donnelly further exposed.
He'll shut up now won't dare invoke section 10 of the health act, saying privately to his concerned colleagues, he did his best to limit the damage to their political standing in their constituency.
I do. There's the parents of someone allegedly killed by the IRA who have been ignored for years ready to be used on another front page 'opinion piece'.
While I am no great fan of this government, it was a 1% drop for each of the three parties in government where the only gains were a 1% increase for each of AU, PBP and I/O.
No party would be looking to either of the three with relish if they were needed to form a government. Those 1% loses and gain are all well within the margin of error, so realistically no real change from the last Red C poll.
Was there ever a response to the McEntee question?
Nope, plenty of deflection though.
Jaysus that sounds very familiar, it's almost like what happens on here. The usuals attacking SF and then throwing out all sorts of accusations to deflect and distract so that they don't or won't answer questions. Was there ever a response to the McEntee question?
And Drowning the Irish people in the process 😏
Hard to see FF and FG coalescing in the future on those numbers and what is now a firm trend.
They are drowning each other trying to cling on to survival.
Leo certainly proving he's a one trick pony , he's really not getting it , his recent little premeditated tantrum in the Dail certainly not helping his cause , nor is his obsession with SF, it really is so blatantly obvious, his only response to any criticism , whatever the issue is , and they are many is to attack SF.
But of course he's not alone in terms of using bully boy tactics, Darragh O Briens behaviour recently, utterly disgraceful and the aspiring to be relevant Paul McAuliffe made an outrageous accusation against Mattie Mc Grath on the Claire Byrne show during the week, he also was asked to explain his comments on Leo Varadkar, very embarrassing altogether.
This Government don't want to Debate , won't tolerate being asked to explain themselves and desperation is clearly setting in.
Govt down 3% = No change d
Did you expect a week of tv and radio appearances by Leo slating SF to have a positive impact on Govt?
Labour is very much the Irish Times dinner party now and is completely irrelevant to the Irish electorate. Coveney seems to have largely escaped the damage of the Zappone problem. The problem for FFG is that the opinion polls suggest major losses for both FF and FG. Even with the pension tourists in Labour drooling for a chance at a ministerial salary and pension, there's no guarantee that a future anti-SF coalition of FFG/Lab will have enough seats to form a government. It would not be surprising, if Bacik loses the DBS seat, to see Labour try running her for president in the next election. The rehabilitation of Bertie Ahern seems to be in progress. Higgins was the FF/FG/Labour candidate in 2018 and FFG politicians were upset at his ingratitude with his comments on the housing crisis.
There was some speculation that Martin would run as the FF candidate but with the way things are going, both Martin and Varadkar may face leadership challenges and the DPP still has to make a decision on Varadkar. That decision could be a major problem for the stability of the FFG government. The real economic problems have not yet started for FFG and while Martin is off playing at being a global statesman in Europe, FFG politicians are getting very worried about their political careers. I think that at least one FGer (McHugh) is not running in the next GE. Even the Local Elections/Euro Elections seem a long way off for FFG.

Basically no change since the last Red C/Sunday Business Post poll which is surprising.
Love it, should've gone to ground like the others will do!
Bacik is a champagne socialist who attended Zappone's shindig in the Merrion. Labour are a spent force and Bacik will loose her seat and will probably end up back in the senate.
A terrifying analysis for FFG:
Don't know how FG's PR people can spin this one. It is even worse for Labour in that Bacik hasn't been quite the saviour they expected.
Thanks insightful as always.
The pressure will be on FFG to find some magic money trees before the budget. On these %s, neither Martin or Varadkar are safe as party leaders. As for Labour, even the SocDems, the Greens and PBP are beating them and the Greens are in government.
Wow the government decline continues. Who would have thunk it?
Hugh O'Connell has an article in tomorrows paper saying that ministers are worried over the facial recognition plan. I should hope Fcking so. McEntee has lost the run of herself with the crap about Gardai's arms tied behind their backs.
She hasn't a clue what she is deciding upon and is signing away our rights to privacy (and much more) without a second thought.
Delightful news, thanks 😏
SF on their own at 36%, SF/SD 40%
FF/FG/Greens 37%
No surprise really tbf, housing distater, health disaster and no sign of them getting to grips with either and thats not mentioning everything else
AIB enjoys a tax break for 30 years. Sure any fallout always comes back to the little guys doorstep.
This is happening under this governments watch. The real criminals won't end up in court.
Josepha Madigan on Saturday with Katie Hannon, this will be be interesting. She's claiming schools are ignoring her re places for children with additional needs, curious as to what Norma Foley thinks about this or do these ministers actually communicate 🤔
The only shiits they give is when they are in the jacks.
His statement was considered as arrogant and ignorant then as it is now, only now it shows him and FG up even more so as apathetic, as those remarks were made half a decade ago.
"we want to continue to reduce homelessness in the years ahead." - 'Continue to Reduce'... 🙄 2 months before he made that statement homelessness had increased a massive 25% in the year up to then and continues to do so. A far cry from statements made by the government in 2013 about eradicating homelessness in Ireland by 2016 (zero 2016) FG also in charge then...
I think at this stage it has been proven that they really do not give a single sh*t about homelessness in Ireland, both their statements and their actions tell us all we need to know. Disgusting Schadenfreude party.
They don't give two sheets as long as they can get their pensions.
Just because homeless levels were low does not make things better. Also what are these homeless levels compared against so that Leo & co can claim they are low.
Astonishing statement and arrogance he seems to think its a competition, then again its becoming abundantly clear he and MM give more of a damn on what the world stage thinks of them, not Irish people .
The numbers released today are utterly shameful, disgraceful and frankly outrageous.
Oddly enough, no one on to "Analyse" and question the numbers and offer alternative facts.
More homeless means more demand and higher lease/rental prices for government favourites to screw the tax payer for.
Didn't Leo make some comment a few years ago about the homeless levels being 'low' - which sounds to me very similar to somebody having no real desire to fix them, when there were more than 3000 children homeless then?
In 2017:
THE Taoiseach has spoken of the comparison between Irish homelessness standards and those of other countries.
Leo Varadkar has claimed that Irish homelessness levels are at a low level despite the growing numbers of homeless on Irish streets.
Despite reports that prove that more than 3,000 Irish children are living without a home in today's Ireland, Varadkar defended the Irish rates of homeless people at today's Fine Gael conference.
According to BreakingNews.ie, Varadkar told reporters at the event that "Ireland has one of the lowest homelessness in the country by international standards compared with our peers, they're the stats, we can provide them for you.
"That is a good thing in Ireland, that we have a low level of homelessness compared to our peer's countries..."
.......
When asked if the rates of homelessness in Ireland today are those of the worst in Irish history, Varadkar answered: "Yes, the situation has increased in the last number of years, but by international standards it is low.
....
I left out two quotes...
"But what's better than that is we don't think that's good enough, and we want to continue to reduce homelessness in the years ahead."
and
"But that's not good enough and we want to make sure we turn the tide on it."
Absolutely incapable numpties.
When these things get worse year on year, yet they keep following the same policies, you would have to wonder why they do it? My guess is money and a complete disregard for the Irish public.
