With slaintecare is perma holding, its clear FF/FG/Greens are happy with things as is.
Anywhere outside the EU bar Australia, Canada and New Zealand, and you will see a health service that is far, far worse than ours. Within the EU, there are a number which do not have as good outcomes as ours.
I can't believe the "Katherine Zappone is not Irish" xenophobia is raising itself again. That was done to death years ago.
It is a pity that exclusionary nationalism cannot accept that there are people who are Irish but are not pure-bred born on this island but not of British stock. Sickening stuff.
Michelle O'Neill is an Irish politician, even I couldn't deny that, and you lot have me down as the ultra-partitionist.
Are you Marko? As I was asking him. We have an all time high waiting list, too many mangers and not enough frontline staff which is what a collapsed health service has. The excuse that there is far, far worse health services than ours does not wash. Try telling someone on the waiting list or someone on a trolly waiting for a bed that there is far, far worse health services than ours and they won't be impressed.
Your ah sure its grand compared to others attitude is typical of a government supporter.
As you well know, this is a thread to discuss the coalition of the Irish Government of the South of Ireland, not the Northern Irish Assembly which sits in a different jurisdiction.
When I said “they’re not Irish politicians” it was absolutely clear to anyone with any degree of common sense that comment was made within the frame of the thread, as In she is not a member of Dáil Éireann.
But hey, jump on any chance to deflect and attempt to spin it into something completely different.
i’m married to a Northern Irish Protestant who describes herself as British. It may shock you to find there are Catholics in the North who consider themselves British, and also Catholics who consider themselves Northern Irish (as distinct from Irish), and Protestants who consider themselves Irish, Northern Irish and obviously many who consider themselves British. But that’s another conversation for another thread. This thread is about the Irish Government of the South of the country that sit in Dáil Éireann.
I was using a loose example to the troll to explain the difference between an Irish person and an Irish politician, using his own method of categorising them.
Not that I could gaf. Katherine Zappone will probably never set foot here again, and only really went fot the citizenship to milk us with the help of FG.
Looking like Darragh O Briens Mica plan going *** up before its even passed , very, very passionate and damining words from some people affected earlier today in committee hearing.
Marc O Cathasaigh (G) sent out to bat on the Late Debate, FFG still in hiding 🙄
I reckon its going to be an unmitigated disaster and will exceed €4 billion
Not a good week for Darragh with his misrepresentation of somebody in the Dáil in order to deflect backfiring on him.
Xenophobia? Hyperbole much? You dropped the ball there. You could have gone for homophobic, mysognist, Xenophobia. Must be slipping B.
I'm just listening to a little background as to how we got here with this mess, Eoin Ó Broin (SF) , wait for it, explaining about Phil Hogan's initial plan which had approval but including €50 million to be paid through construction industry federation, they even set up a limited company to manage this payment.
Vested interested threatened legal action, government caved in so full cost to Taxpayer, Eoin Ó Broin has documents via FIO requests. Obviously FG sat on their arses for years, handed the mess over to Darragh and he's managed to make an even bigger mess of it.
I'd no idea about this previous attempt by Phil Hogan, astonishing stuff.
And it may also cost them the number of seats needed to have a working majority. Joe McHugh is looking more likely to go independent if full costs are not met. This will leave the government with 79 seats and they need 80.
Grabbing popcorn for next round of chaos
Indeed, even with extra TD'S in Dail after next GE. I do pretend to know much about the Mica situation but it would seem to me that despite Governments grandstanding, they'll be wiped out in Donegal and other constituencies impacted.
It's just beggar's belief, they've seemed to have left this mess stew, ignore it, let people off the Hook, leave those affected hanging, announce a plan, few are happy with, try again, even more people are unhappy and still run with it, just bizzare carry on.
I do genuinely sympathise with those affected but don't agree this should be 100% taxpayer funded.
This is going to go way over figures budgeted for and besides who's actually going to do the work 🙄
Pretty xenophobic attitude to those who take up citizenship.
From what you are saying FG had an initial plan that didn't cost the taxpayer a fortune, but that FF later caved in after the masses were whipped into a frenzy by Pearse and the boys? Did I get that right?
Richard Bruton was terrible on Primetime. For a seasoned politician he could not answer a single question. He would not answer. Miriam was clearly disgusted with him avoiding every single question. Have FG a single politician who is honest?
No, try again Blanch.
FG had a plan that would have meant a contribution towards the cost by industry, €50 million a year for whatever amount of years.
Vested interests threatened legal action, FG caved in, Full cost to taxpayer. Then sat on their backsides, essentially doing nothing whilst costs increasing all the time.
Roll on this Government, Darragh O Brien alledgedy takes charge, not a whimper for about a year, throws out a plan, no one happy, trys again, still no one happy (I might add some damning testimonials from victims about their treatment by O Briens own officials earlier today)
O Brien proceeding with new plan at a 100% cost to taxpayers and costs of Materials, off the scale.
It was FG that caved in and FFG now happy to continue expecting 100% cost to Taxpayers.
Hope that clears up your deliberate confusion 😉
Can anyone defend the government's inaction here? The housing disaster will never be solved by the coalition of chaos.
He was rotters drunk.
I only caught a bit but he certainly looked out of sorts, Bewildered, just catching up now on repeat, RTE NEWS 😉
Isn't McHugh not standing in the next election or have I mixed him up with someone else
Actually your correct, he saw the writing on the wall, Charlie McConalogue, doesn't appear to see anything, but he's definitely Toast
True he is not but they will need his vote now.
Why do you think Michael McNamara went independent?
Ff doubling down. Heavily edited video on Twitter headed “Minister @DarraghOBrienTD defends Ireland's welcoming of refugees, as our history implores us to.”
Not going down well on the Twittersphere.
Worth a repeat in light of the sanction (pitifully small in comparison to elsewhere) handed down to a bank yesterday.
Paschal has a remarkable ability to talk out of both sides of his mouth at the same time. We've gone from there'll be little risk of recession, to theres a Risk of recession without conceeding it will happen.
Perhaps Paschal doesn't look out his window much but he's clearly not actually paying attention. Of course this part of the usual Kite flying we get from Leo, Michael Mc Grath and MM well ahead of budget day, we've very little leeway, unless of course when it suits them them or their insatiable appetite when it comes to virtue signalling on the world stage 🙄
All over the shop and we've seen nothing yet 🙄
Sooner these cowboys are out of Govt the better
Well, the system is working as they hope anyway.
Those stats must be wrong after all according to posters on here we are 2nd best in some survey and 8th best in some other UN one and another one of these posters is saying that there is no problem because of the amount of people going away on holidays that the airport can't cope with.
