If it had 2.0 litre tax then it would probably be fetching 5k or 6k.
I bought a 2.2 CRV 5 years ago for €1700 and it refuses to die (obviously it's highly unlikely ever to). I do spend money on it when needed, so not true bangernomics but I had it almost 2 years before I had to replace a part. Original exhaust, now at 240k miles. Proper little workhorse.
Plenty of belters out there. Duke O'Smiley magics one up frequently (used to be daily!).
Do the maths on what's right for you. If you're doing low miles, then don't be afraid of high tax as you'll get a great, safe loaded car that few want. It's all about deciding what works for you and applying a total cost of ownership lens. And that personal factor of what you want. As life is short.

A Micra or a Merc, once its reasonably tidy with about 6 months test, and there's nothing out there. Bangernomics has never been so dead!

God the Nissan tida... A serious dis-improvement on the almera it replaced. How Nissan produced something so ugly is amazing.
Absolutely horrible looking yokes they're a real developing economy car, something you'd see in South Africa or the like.
Tida was designed for Asian developing markets. It was only shoe horned into Europe countries like Ireland to fill the compact hatch/saloon void left by the Almera after that was replaced by the Qashqai.

12 months test and €500 under budget to put towards a year's tax. I don't think that will hang around long.
This looks tidy and has a decent spec, if I was in the market for a cheap car to keep me ticking over it would tick a lot of boxes.
That saab, in that colour, has aged magnificently. It deserves a good home.
Other than tax, what would be the concerns or things to look out for when buying something like this? Given theyre not produced anymore, is buying a Saab riskier than another car?

When I looked at getting one few years ago I got considerably higher than expected insurance quotes for them, reason given (as if insurance companies need one lol) was perceived difficulty with parts as discontinued.

Viewed an s60 with a dash like a Christmas tree and then a lovely 05 e200 with NCT & tax which fit the bill perfectly so did a deal.
