Hope you keep the footage for the guards.
That's shocking.
Limerick
Yes it's more dangerous than if the lights were off altogether, not seen this happen before when the lights have failed.
White car driver probably just thought he was gunning an orange light and that you'd run a red from the side.
You were still in the right - you were there first
Maybe the white car didn't realise they were faulty or maybe they assume they own the road
I'll put this one out there for judgement: Faulty traffic lights with a road sign on all approaches.
I went into it with the mindset (which I've now found out is wrong) that faulty traffic lighted junctions work like a roundabout, where you give way to the right. The guy beeping is a white car coming from the left after the other 2 pass, you can briefly see the reflection in the windows. He was quite mad that I went when I did.
Thoughts?
Not the fist time they've done that, you can be sure. It's easy to drive big van like that, you're much more likely to kill someone else than be killed yourself.
That video needs to go to their employer.
Bit of swearing after wife's near miss.
ABS brakes are working.
Saturday.
I’m a regular on the N7 and I have to say your clip didn’t surprise me in the slightest. That is a unbelievably regular occurrence. The worst I witnessed was a car that dived across 3 lanes last second to get to that petrol station. That was at somewhere close to 4 or 5pm on a weekday when the traffic is at its heaviest.
I'd guess they had planned on getting fuel but didn't know there was a station there and so dived off at the last moment when they saw it.
Must have been 1c/L less than their local station :)
Made all the more maddening by the fact that there's another petrol station a minute further down the road.
No you are just a dangerous driver!
Last one from me for the moment. A late exit from the N7 with plenty of braking so they could dive into the petrol station.
Well don't think either of those apply in this case do you?
Except when that person changes lanes without checking or brake checks you.
If you hit someone from behind, you are at fault.
Never happened to me driving in Florida or Toronto city centre...
I've seen a surprising number of people driving the wrong way in Ireland.
Could be an Immigrant.
No harm done.
Maybe cut them a bit of slack.
If they can't master basics like that what chance have they of passing the test
Learner driver turns into and drives on the wrong side of the road. Thankfully it was quiet.
Sounds like the original design was probably a right filter that got changed due to long queues for left and straight on.
My point being that from the right lane you actually have to move left (in to what normally would be a direct path for the left lane) to go straight across while the left is straight ahead - weird layout for sure and would hazard a guess it's not it's original design
It really depends on traffic flows, ideally, three lanes with one for each direction.
Looks like left and straight on are the main flows so the right is relegated to being a secondary path from the straight on lane.
If the left and straight on were together, then the queues could be quite long.
If it was me the right lane would be for turning right with the left lane being directly forward over the junction/left unlike the right lane
The same junction a few weeks ago. Apologies for the silly music, it's a bit baffling that YouTube's editor doesn't easily let you mute the audio and that you need to add a song from their library.
You're absolutely right. The junction is terribly signed (I'm going to ring Fingal now) and I was just having a bit of a rant as it happens frequently there.
Just off the phone. Apparently they'll send someone out to inspect and repaint the road surface at a minimum. Hopefully a sign gets put up as well.
That's an awful-looking place, and not being familiar with it, I'd probably make the same mistake as the taxi if I did happen to find myself there.
There are no signs to indicate "left turn only" from this far back, and the markings on the road are almost worn completely off. Not always possible to see road markings anyway, if there's a line of vehicles in front of you.
Maybe the taxi driver is more familiar with the place than I am and therefore maybe "should" have known better, but I for one can see how somebody not familiar with the place would do exactly what the taxi driver did - i.e. you'd assume that as is normally the case, the left lane is for turning left and going straight ahead, and the right lane is just for turning right.
