This present FF/FG/GP is the worst government in Ireland since the Peel/Russell tory/whig governments between 1845-52.
Complete and utter s******s.
Hyperbole says Hello!
It's not a whole other thread. This thread is about the government and when the President is criticising them it belongs here. I guess the truth hurts.
Well, for a start they need houses to live in and they are in short supply.
I tried searching and I came up empty. So can you say was the president was correct? A yes or no will suffice if you can even manage that.
We'res Hilagarde these days 🤔
Really is. They always find money when it suits.
You are avoiding the point. Should we not tackle the housing crisis? Simple question. Should we not tackle energy poverty? Simple question.
You are boring. I couldn't give a toss what you believe I 'outed' myself as, not that I can pretend to understand how the fck you came to that conclusion without even being able to read the posts properly. Picking up the post at the end of a conversation from almost a week ago and adding a bullsh*t question to deflect from the current conversation, and either being incapable of reading the previous posts or pretending to be, with the intention of keeping a conversation going around in circles may be something you like to do when you have any spare time. I have no interest in it. All you have proven to me is that you still can't read over the posts properly. The badgering is hilarious though, given that you and a few others on this forum hide whenever you are asked any questions.
Incidentally, there is no need to add the word Index after HDI. It is what the I stands for.
I would like to add though "if Ireland had a similar HDI index of North Korea", I still would not care about the statistic. Probably even less so then.
To clarify for the last time... and to quote the same section of my post that you quoted, I said "The statistic itself, is meaningless".
It is. I could not give a sh*t about it. I am going to throw it out there again, that most people probably couldn't care about it at all, and take a guess that most people don't even know what it is. Do you reckon we could survive without it, or how vital is it to our lifelines, on a scale of 1-100 do you reckon?
From the wiki page:
"The Human Development Index (HDI) is a statistic composite index of life expectancy, education (mean years of schooling completed and expected years of schooling upon entering the education system), and per capita income indicators, which are used to rank countries into four tiers of human development. A country scores a higher level of HDI when the lifespan is higher, the education level is higher, and the gross national income GNI (PPP) per capita is higher."
What does it help us improve?
Will it solve the housing crisis? The hospital beds? Will it lower the cost of living, fix any problems we have at all? Does it do ANYTHING?
Does it warrant more than one post on this thread?
Is there absolutely no other way that we can figure out if we are in a country that is better off than, let's say Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ghana or Ethiopia?
So we leapfrogged a few countries because they are having issues with refugees after letting too many in. If the index was so vital, shouldn't our own government not be making the same mistake? I mean, after all, we are currently number 2... 🤓
Now that Germany has dropped down to number 6, what happens to them? Do we not go there anymore, or do we just look at them with disdain? What about The Netherlands, they must be mortified after dropping to 8th from 1st, Do we just refuse to ever take advice from them again? Or maybe we should build a wall around them and disconnect them from the rest of Europe.
The idea behind the HDI is purely for monitoring, and that in itself is a thing, but the statistic itself to be used as a tool? That is absolute horsecrap.
If it wasn't, I would be pointing out around about now, that we have already dropped to 3rd. 😂 and also take note of who is in charge while we are dropping. Germany are already back up to 4th... Uh-oh... They and Hong Kong are right behind us.... Better get the lifeboats ready..
But I'm not pointing that out, because it is a bullsh*t statistic. Now, I don't think I can be anymore clear in what I have said. Maybe you can answer the questions in this post now.
Well done.
I'll second that, jesus wept some people are just Anal 😉
I'll third it as I can feel the exasperation oozing from it.
Naughton to see here.
😂😂😂 Some here have extraordinary levels of patience.
Boom Boom 😉
McEntee is pregnant again. Fair play to her.
She is a busy woman.
Is it just me or is this Shower just trundling along till Dail recess, head off on long holidays , hoping all the problems they've created will just go away by September 🤔 They actually don't seem to give a Toss .
There's enough to be criticising this pox of a government over. This isn't on.
Feels that way
Neither here nor there.
It's still newsworthy 🙄

I wasn't posting to criticise her. McEntee is one of very few ministers in the current government I actually like. However I think it is significant as she is a big voice at the Cabinet table and there is also a reshuffle pending around the time she's due to take maternity leave.
My remarks were sincere.
I mean she's a minister of justice who's probably a minister for half her term. Considering how important that position is, I think it's right to question why for half of someone's term, it's combined into someone else's portfolio.
Turns out only women can get pregnant and that's how humans reproduce so I don't think women should be penalised for it. Also it being this government with the crony judicial appointments and such I don't think it matters which one of these nothing to write home about government politicians step in, (or out). Was she missed last time?
I don't think she'd ever be missed. They probably have a cardboard cutout in there now running her office.
If you need to accommodate 30,000 Ukrainians then you are going to struggle. No government is going to have empty housing units in case a war breaks out somewhere.
We are giving Ukrainians free places to stay (homes, hotels etc) full social welfare (no rent to be paid), 3 meals a day free of charge (for the hotel residents), medical cards etc etc
Why are they not paying rent or hotel fees if they are receiving social welfare?
We are pissing away taxpayers money
So you don't have ANY international benchmark as a target or goal in mind, just want to have a good ol' rant.
Fair enough, but you seem to get angry when people call you out on it. Your long monologues are all over the place and bizarre. You have quite a talent for non-answering valid questions with reams of text.
Anyway, yes we have issues in health and housing, as does every country in the world. That is why we use benchmarks to add context.
Dail != Cabinet|Government
Anyone with a shred of intelligence would know that.
The usual crew at heart have a misogynist view of the world. Commenting on a minister getting pregnant and her 'hair do' is grade A sexism and misogyny. Of course, those who uttered those words will deny it.
We didn't need to accommodate 30,000 Ukrainians to know we were struggling.
There were a load of Refugees out protesting today looking for medical cards, free laundry, and more, asking where are their houses. I am sure there will be videos and interviews going around.
Grand, then perhaps you need to vote for a political party that will a) stop refugees coming to Ireland b) limit migration.
