Since when did the government run local councils?
Pretty much Local government 1.01 that councils run councils.
Then again, if you just want to blame the government for everything, off you go.
I have been the biggest critic on here of the local councils for their failure to do their job in housing and infrastructure. All that piece does is back me up.
What does The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage do?
It would seem he takes donations and is able to fasttrack any planning permission. As minister for heritage, he probably wouldn't have as much red tape or stumbling blocks. Being head of local government, who are usually the first stop in planning permission wouldn't hurt either.
Good coming from FF that they won't take gas off an occupying state but will gladly take it of Israel, another terrorist occupying state. Probably opposed getting goods from Aparteid South Africa too years ago.

Did you really think the Minister ran the councils??? Lol.
That is so funny.
I suppose councillors are only elected to scratch their arse!!!
Any comment on what President Higgins said earlier this week or are you going to do a Simon and Garfunkel, The sound of silence.
Bridge over Troubled water could be an appropriate Campaign song for FG next GE 😉
Nearly sure I commented on the thread for that, not being lured into off-topic discussion on this one. Not bothered checking either, because I made a comment somewhere on it, you can just use the search function to find it, if you're that bothered. Funny how some posters think others are just there to answer their random queries.
You trying to suggest commenting on the president commenting on the total and utter failures of FF and FG successive govts housing policies is "off topic" in the actual thread about the coalition government, of which FF and FG are part of?
Get real.
There's a whole other thread about it, why waste space talking about it twice?
Threads exist for discussion on SF and yet you manage to talk about them everywhere else as well. And there's me thinking you hated hypocrisy.
Your last few posts on this thread are some of the most disingenuous you've ever posted. And given your history, that's saying something.
It's remarkable just how many knots he's trying himself in. It's kind of impressive.
Your trying to deflect on a different tangent now, you initially claimed it was "off topic", I'm asking you how the president, (MDH) commenting on the failed and disastrous housing policies conjured up by FF/FG are off topic on a thread that's entirely about FF FG?
If you meant to say uncomfortable. Fair enough.
The statistic itself is meaningless
Thats funny. You say the UN HDI is meaningless?
What international benchmark should we use instead?
I have posted, explained my post and clarified. If you are still unable to understand what I said (even though you quoted me, and in particular, singled out a specific part of what I said) I can't help you. But in reality you are probably just trying to deflect from the current discussion, as that was 5 days ago.
So you want to talk about the housing but not the people who will live in them. Grand so.
So you either don't know or won't say. I find it strange you'll commend government on housing policy but blame local authorities 100% for it's failings. Lol indeed.
70% of nurses still waiting for their one thousand euro according to. Claire Byrne
What. % politicians still waiting last pay rise do you think?
0% and 0% have to concern themselves with trifling litte matters such as cost of living crisis.
Seems everything in Simons life is dissapointing, his achievements, leaks not paying dividends, record in government.
Most people would do something about ongoing disappointment, clearly not this government or its ministers 🙄
The magic money tree well and alive
What international benchmark should we use? You didn't answer that question, as any and all international benchmarks I have mentioned are useless and worth '**** all' according to you.
Maybe the benchmark you are after is 'ill stick my wet finger in the air and see what way the wind blows'?
Do you think we should help Ukrainians or not?
Simple question.
Maybe you should read over the posts again.
I did and you don't have any benchmark to talk about, just random ramblings.
We should indeed but currently the country cannot accommodate anymore. We have a education, health and housing crisis just to name 3. We are currently letting more and more people into the country with nowhere for them to stay, adding extra kids to already overcrowded classrooms and more presure on a health service on his knees
What sh*t are you talking? Read over my posts properly and you will find your answer. I have already told you that I have already explained my posts, didn't think I needed to, but now you are are asking me to explain again with a different but the same question. If you are incapable of reading what I said properly, then there is no real point in me posting any answer at all to you. I will however say, in reply to your previous post regarding "any and all international benchmarks I have mentioned are useless and worth '**** all' according to you." that I haven't noticed any other you posted. The only one I saw was the HDI. How about going back and reading the small part you specifically quoted a few posts back. You should find that very helpful.
I think it's fair to say most people living in the hear and now (Real world) don't give a flying toss about index"s, 2 year old stats, ERSI gibberish.
They are interested in Lack of Housing, Dreadful Health Service, Cost of Living, Expense of Childcare, Education costs, you know the S***show that this government is oblivious too and through failed policies are making worse on a daily basis, I don't give a toss about announcements, Plans, objectives, lessons being learned BS.
It's not unreasonable to ask about the Government saying under one breath there's no Magic money Tree, Michael Martin saying today, no more Supports, Reliefs etc to help with the cost of living crisis and then on the very same day Michael Mc Grath virtue signalling about a magical €3 billion being put aside for Humanitarian and refugees costs that are rising.
I often wonder is there any coherent thinking at all between members of Government.
So you won't supply any international benchmarks because you think they are worth '**** all'. I guess if Ireland had a similar HDI index of North Korea, you may think a little differently.
You just outed yourself as a philistine by the way, who holds gut feelings and beliefs over logic and reason.
