There was no thread so I've started one.
Current leaderboard......
Chance of rain shortly which would change things a lot. I think it would favour accurate tee shirts but hamper off line ones.
He’s essentially a mental weakling
Yeah its not his fault of course , but when hes been talked about winning one 4 times a year for 8 years and continually underperforms then its really no wonder that he would have some naysayers?
Yes exactly , but more than capable of winning the canadian open.
It's a young man's game.
Unfortunately it's golf, it's the most difficult game to play and margins of millimetres can make a player look bad. It's not like it's a 50/50 that he's constantly not winning.
Sheffler eagle to jump into a 2 shot lead out of nowhere
Well the average age of a major winner is 32. So theres a smell of bull poop off that comment.
He’s still right there, I can’t understand why they teed off so late
Luckily in tennis you only need to beat 7 opponents to win a Major! In golf you need to beat 156!
Unfortunate for him all right. You dont think his fragile mind under pressure has nothing to do with it at all at all?
True that fair point! I just cant fathom how hes still so famous after not winning in 8 years and continuously **** up in the big ones.
Rory is the oldest player in the top 10
He hasnt won a major since 25. Ive no idea whatsover what point you are trying to make about age.
No pressure last week at all at all. Or is it that anyone who doesn't win has a fragile mind under pressure? Sometimes you need some luck to get some momentum going and run with it
Another bogey for McIlmiss the weak fool
I must have the timezones mixed up as well, reads like it's 3am in here!
Jaysus some lie for Matt Fitz!
The canadian open man. Your obviously a big Rory fan and thats fair , hes a very good golfer , unfortunately Rory is now to majors as Mayo is to All ireland wins. You know yourself if you follow golf the sequence of how Rory plays his rounds in majors? This one was a genuine shock as he had 2 good first days.
What I'm saying is the best players in the are in their 20's with McIlroy being the outlier. Peak years for golfer's now is 20's, he's doing really well to still be the third best player in the world at 33.
Yeah and you are correct! My point is about his major performances ,And not winning one in 8years, nothing to do with world ranking. Golfers arent remembered for their world ranking.
He actually scrambled well yesterday and got some putts to keep a score going. Today it isn't going his way, its golf and it happens to everyone. A follower of golf would know that.
Mayo analogy is awful as exactly like the tennis comparison previously, opponents can get knocked out before you have to play them...and there's far less of them too.
Long way to go
Aw man if you think he is good at handling pressure at majors theres really no point talking to you. Any follower of golf knows that he cant handle the majors anymore. I accept other sports comparisons are a bit unfair.
I'd say he piles on a huge amount of unnecessary pressure on himself before majors, and tries to force his game instead of playing what's in front of him
Yeah id completly agree with that thinking. As evidenced by his success outside of the majors , unfortunately for him pro golf is very heavily focused on majors. Look he won 4 before 26 , not many have won 4 or more over there whole career. Im just sick of the hype around him pre every major at this stage im aware thats not his fault.
The legacy of a golfer is determined by majors for sure, not having won one in 8 years won't matter a damn.
The hype comes externally, he's the biggest name in the game as he took on the post-Tiger era mantle alone. Since then, the standard of the game has just gone from strength to strength. Multiple major winners have come and gone.
In saying all that, the putt on 8 was atrocious. Need to give yourself every chance to get some momentum going
Course is eating them up today
Yeah i do agree but like how is his name still so big? Yeah hes losing the plot a bit today , few others in the same boat.
How is he losing the plot. The first drop shot just didn't drop and his being unlucky for a few birdies. Is Morikawa is losing the plot aswell with 3 dropped shots
