The EU may have been weak at the start but is going from strength to strength and will continue to do so. Russia is crumbling and that is irreversible, look at the article posted by Dan above. What Russia has lost in the last three months took the previous three decades to build and all of it has been destroyed by the greed of one man literally overnight.

I agree with that possibility but it is completely dependent on getting the weapons and training to Ukraine fast. The EU are weak on that and the candidate status given to Ukraine is for PR reasons only in my opinion.
The existence of a fair chunk of Ukraine is truly under threat at the moment, I don’t believe Russia will give up what they have seized through non military means.

Russia has overnight lost almost everything it gained through perestroika and glasnost, it could have been a successful trading partner of the EU but instead it chose to go rogue. Russia will not be trusted for a lot longer than 10 years or even 20+
