Yeah I noticed a "To Let" sign still on that Lifestyle window last weekend and was surprised considering I had heard a good while back that Golden Discs was opening there in supposedly a couple of weeks. I know they talk about a vinyl record resurgence but I'd say music shops surely must struggle in the streaming age! Like above, it must be the noughties since I last bought a physical album!
I haven't heard what entertainment for the Rose of Tralee festival is going to be on? Seems quite late and nothing has been announced about what will be on?
Yeah, that's been rumoured a while now. Hopefully it comes to pass.
It would have been good to have something go in there. I did hear that Elverys are going into the old Dunnes building, but I don't know if that's true.
That'd be a pity, although I can't complain too much as I myself haven't bought music in a physical format in maybe a decade or more!
Getting something into that unit though is really needed to bring some life back to that stretch of Bridge St. Hopefully something happens with the old Dunnes unit now too.
Mark Leen (aka Elvis!) has opened a little coffee shop opposite Shaws, 'Nu Place'. Nice to see some life back in that old building. Hopefully it does well for him. There's a bit of competition around there now with another coffee shop just down on the corner by the old Abbey and Yummys just around the corner. No shortage of coffee shops in town!
That's strange! No notice on their social media that they aren't open. Last post was in April and said their app wasn't working.
I don't know if Golden Disks are actually going to reopen. They were supposed to but I've heard its not happening now.
Any news on Meet me at Phillies, anytime I've tired to go there it's been closed, the apps aren't taking orders (Uber and Just Eat) and there has been no posting on Facebook in a few months...
Must be a relief for you Tiger
Thanks!
Hope that move works out for them.
I believe they're moving up to the old Lifestyle unit
Also, any Greenway news? Will it ever happen......😕
Communication from whoever's involved is absolutely dismal.
Are Golden Discs gone? Or moved to a new location? Shame if they have left Tralee.
DV8 have taken over the unit Golden disks were in and now making it into a much bigger store.
The road from the Forge Cross to the Ballybunion road closed today for 8 months. This is for the construction of a new bridge & bypass.
T.
Down near the old Beru factory (now vaccination centre)
Where abouts exactly in monavalley is this? The only new building I can think of up there is Dillons Waste.
I have tried their ice-cream in Ballyseedy, its lovely. They opened out there a year or 2 ago now. The one in town looks good. Hope it does well for them.
It looks as though the Dubai restaurant in Ashe street has closed (the old Mozarts unit).
Can highly recommend the Old Dairy ice-cream parlour, which just opened on Ashe Street last weekend - tastes like home-made, and a wide variety of flavours.
League of Ireland.
Delighted as the county is big enough to have one.
A league of Ireland team.
Glad I'm not the only one 🤣
Great to see screwfix if it happens
What's an LOI club?
Kerry Eye reporting that a 2 storey medical centre with pharmacy is being built on the long vacant corner site opposite Austin Stack Park. A rather underwhelming looking building per the image in the article but I suppose its better than the ugly site that has been there 20 or maybe 30 years?
Island of Geese site opening to public next month too according to Radio Kerry!
Looks like Kerry is going to have a LOI club, great news.
Audi dealership, Screwfix and euro car parts all going in there
Not sure of the exact reasons, but that's what I read. Who knows with the council!
Seems odd that a business up there operating 7 days a week would inconvenience anyone. The place is deserted at weekends and no residents live nearby.
