Had thee best 99 in years in East Cork yday.. they use Dairyglen.. the stuff you get from the usual places has no taste of it imo... smooch/whizz or what ever they are called..

I reckon they've halfed in size over the past 10 years and it's time for a public enquiry into the matter.
Had a delightful 99 over the weekend, shop assistant used twizzers to place the Flake into the ice cream, I felt compelled to purchase an extra Flake 😏

99s don't really work as you'd like them to. Classic cornetto is way better!

I have mine with a coffee.. helps get the most out of the flavour of the flake - "affogato" effect..
awe now there is no comparison between a cornetto and a 99.. the ice cream is not whipped.. and you don't see anyone leaving a shop with a cornetto and a big cheesy grin on their face.. different story with 99s lol
I get a great giggle out of seeing folk exit a store enjoying their 99s... children, parents, grandparents.. its almost religious lol
I'm not a fan of cold chocolate. I always tell off people who store it in the fridge 🙈 But I do enjoy a flake with my 99! A cold flake is better than no flake :P
You’re doing it wrong tbr.
When you get your 99, with flake, first you lick all the sauce off then, with your index finger, you push the flake into the cone until it can go no further. Proceed to eat your 99 as usual but when you get to the end of the cone you have a combination of biscuit, not-too-cold chocolate and a little ice cream.

I haven't had a 99 in a good while, you have me thinking about them now. Teddy's in Dun Laoghaire was always a good shout while walking the pier. One of the nicest (and biggest) 99s I had was from a small little newsagents place in Tralee, I can't even remember what it was called now. It was July 2020 and probably the best thing that had happened to me that year, lol. That or I was easily pleased on my first trip out of Dublin in months at the time.
