inside for rowing outside for shaking out
I've had a similar problem drawing bales with an 80hp tractor on high ground. Dodgy enough alright. We had two weight blocks like mentioned above and left one in the field and one in the yard.
Only problem with the back wheel weights or water is it takes no pressure off the front axle.
Surely a weight frame could be designed that could be left on the arms and clear a drawbar when lifting a trailer?
Has anyone got one of these covers, or know anything about them?

If you were clever you could make one much cheaper. Buy a tarp that has eyelets along edge, buy the bungee cord string, run the cord through the eyelets and tighten with a cord lock. Look like they would be awkward to put on with only one person if you've the yellow fiberglass type spreader.
We had one of the cashels bale handlers running with a malone bale transporter for a few years.
The malone is the same type of bale trailer as you have in your link.
The bars on the malone were spaced narrow enough to allow the paddles of the cashels to go eithre side of them with ease.
If the bars are a similar spacing to the paddles, the paddles can get caught in the bars when placing the bale on the trailer.
We were able to pick up the trailer under the cashels .and head home with it.
To pick the trailer under the bale handler you had to back in at nearly 90 degrees and drop the handler over the drawbar, to get it low enough to pick the trailer.
We never used it on a drawbar but it would have been easier with it.
I bought a hydraulically folding bale handler which i think was designed for this which made it a lot easier.
It does take weight off the front axle.
Think of the front axle having a weight of 2 tonne. One tonne of tractor and one tonne of loader.
Lift 1 tonne at the back and the front will become lighter. The weight at the back will have a pendulum effect via the draft pins and top link bracket
If it didn't become lighter no larger heavier tractors would ever need counter weights.
Edit: apologies I read it as counter weight.
You are correct, wheel weight and water ballast makes no difference to front axle weight
Could stick a bale hander on one of these?
Might have the same bother of trying to get the hitch low enough to lift it though.
Have a ram on the agitator that goes up but won't come down, are the seals in trouble?
Single or double acting?
I think single, only one pipe.
Its single acting if it only has 1 hose.
Will it extend when you push the spool lever but it won't retract?
Is the ram for the spout adjustment or for pivoting the agitator?
No it won't extend but will come in, it's for the angle of agitator
Try a different connection on the tractor Kev. Might be grit in the spool valve.
Oh I did, might throw a hydraulic top link on if it will fit
Can you see the pipes being pressurised when you try to work the spool?
Ya when it comes in, not when it tries to extend
Is it not in float to retract?
Ie pressure lifts the agitator but gravity drops it and hence the ram closes.
Whats the thoughts on this?
Bald tyres on a tractor is unlikely to effect its roadholding ability
In theroy it should inprove it on a dry road! Unless the tyre is perrished due to weather or clearly taking the piss i would'nt have much of a problem.
You would think with the lack of law and order in this country they would find something more worthwhile to be doing. Easy target again I guess.
Probably stopped on the motorway. Much higher chance of getting pulled over on a tractor on a motorway than any other road.
Chatting a friend in the trade and theirs a serious amount of cancelled orders for tanks and trailing shoes, some turnaround from last year, could be good value to be got on cancelled orders if anyone's in the market
I bought a cancelled order last year. Got it at the old price. The new tanks must be some cost now with the price of steel, tyres, etc....
Why are they cancelling. Cost increases or the cost of everything else and less cash flow?
The cost of everything is insane plus I'd say lads are probably thinking of holding a lump of cash in reserve in case a recession kicks in.
And if inflation hits (just as likely it seems) the cash is utterly worthless compared to the asset they could have bought.
I wonder what way it will go
What good is an expensive asset if money is useless
Money will never be useless
It will just take more money then before to be useful
