maybe if war kicked off in Europe, Rwanda would open its borders to people here, like fukkk.
a one way street of a deal. As per usual.
RTE are absolute whind-up merchants. The guy literally rejected his own application form in this clip. Fleeing checkpoints? Im sure Rodrick is skipping around in excitement getting his house ready.
another of my posts have been deleted is anyone having the same issue? It was posted. Then it was disappeared.
Talk about moving the goalposts.
Well they could have voted for people who were campaigning on the basis that they would actually implement the policies that you claim that the people of Ireland want but when the far right do go up for elections (I understand i'm talking about invisible people since the far right doesn't exist), they get a very embarrassing result. That's kind of what the poster was talking about.
It's like chatting someone up and getting rejected and thinking you scored lol. It just doesn't reflect reality unfortunately, as much as I'd like to believe that Barbara Palvin and Adriana Lima are gagging for me.
The problem with the Irish population is that they are still very much stuck in "Better the Devil you know" mode. Which is why FF and FG can continue to destroy this Country year after year.
Yup. Not recently, but I've had quite a few disappear. It's the mods removing what they consider inappropriate or irrelevant to the thread. No point appealing (I did and got absolutely nowhere). Just take a breath and move on.
What parties are representing those policies? So,.. if all the parties are saying the same thing, and advocating the same outcome... who else would you be able to vote for? The simple truth is that Irish people have no genuine representation in Irish politics when it comes to issues that matter... And even if there was, there would be zero guarantee that they would do anything about what was promised, once they got into office. What's the worst the electorate could do? Not vote them in during the next election? and turn to who else for the protest vote?
Politics in Ireland is just woeful.
The right wing groups in Ireland are a joke. Can't even handle a discussion on radio without isolating themselves and pushing every reasonable person a mile away. Voting for them is worse than spoiling a vote. At least, spoiling makes some kind of statement.
There is an upsurge in support for sensible immigration policy to be adapted… it will happen, it’s happening but too late is the likelihood…
I’ll be ok, (unless my health goes south again where I’ll be on a ‘list’ again)…but most won’t, country is probably donald ducked, without a way back…
ESRI population predictions ..
“At a national level in the ‘business as usual’ scenario, the population is expected to increase by around 926,000 people between 2016 and 2040 resulting in a total population of over 5.665 million people by the end of the period,”
That was written before the Ukrainian situation so it’s not unrealistic in my guesstimate to expect a plus 6 million population by 2040…
the impacts that multiculturalism and the manner multiculturalism is coming about is unsustainable to support the welfare of the citizens here.
I suspect we'll see a mass exodus, white flight from Ireland at some point, or rather over a continuous period, to the point where native Irish people are minority here. Might still be a predominately white nation, but not Irish.
Irish people know they can prosper abroad... if they can't prosper in their own country, they'll simply start leaving.
Yes, absolutely, but… that’s only possible if there are countries elsewhere that are welcoming and CAN welcome…
Italy , Poland and Greece are all seemingly on the cusp of seeking and pushing for referenda regarding their ongoing membership… Denmark isn’t far behind..Euroskepticism is massively on the rise…long term the EU is absolutely doomed… im 100% convinced.. bureaucrats making un-democratic decisions that benefit only non Europeans ? Multiculturalism isn’t anything most people are against, just the manner it’s being adopted is.
Deleted. I was a bit too drunk for boards last night. 😁
Housing policy, climate change policy, sustainability, infrastructure planning and standard of living all be damned
And social cohesion too because so much of the population growth is planned or expected to come from outside.
Attitudes have clearly changed from 10 years ago. To be expected considering the housing crisis alone. So I ask.....what are you willing to do about it?
Would you be willing to incur EU sanctions to introduce limits such as fixed numbers of work permits/ppsns ? Fixed numbers of eu internal migration into Ireland?
Or would you be willing to leave the EU, consider that this is highly unlikely and support for the eu is usually always very high in Ireland.
Or campaign within Europe to limit or close up to external migration coming in?
At least, spoiling makes some kind of statement.
Spoiling a vote does nothing as it tells you nothing
Covid showed how much the media can set an agenda. Its laughable the positive spin immigration is given in the media. I don't think it's a conspiracy, I just think it's people who've never had to worry about owning a house, not having private health insurance etc.
Bonus points for the obligatory MASI grifter appearance. Good old NGO Ireland.
I think you’ll find that an extra 3.25 million is an extra 50%. Not 100%. The article referenced the whole island, not just the Republic.
Grand. Many of those extra 3.25 million will have children... easily managing to double the population, if not more.
It's worth remembering that people coming from 2nd/3rd world nations tend to have larger families than those born into first world nations. Throw welfare into the mix, and we'll see a population explosion rather quickly, and one that won't slow down just because it's inconvenient. After all, look at the state of African nations, economically and socially, and regardless of the poor state of the nation, their populations {generally} continue to rise.
We need serious incentives for those not in receipt of state supports to have children. Childcare is a massive issue in this country, both places and cost for those working
Well we have the children's allowance, free schooling etc.
There's a long list of supports as regards childcare, could always be better though you would need to look at where to make savings elsewhere to do that. Possibly means testing the likes of the children's allowance would be a good start, it's bonkers that it's given by default to everyone regardless of means
https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/education/pre_school_education_and_childcare/your_childcare_options.html
childcare is a side issue and should be treated as such. The root cause is that we have gone from being able to do everything on a single income to requiring twice that effort. Biggest factor is housing.
An FYI for those who think an Australian style skilled visa only system is the solution, todays news:
Australia also has the integration issues and has experienced terrorism first hand. This is despite decades of migration. A recent issue from the usual suspects.
Of course Australia, like everywhere else ran migration levels way above historical averages and kept it there for years (since the early 2000s). Covid has smacked it down. But the housing crisis persists.

Working from home has helped (for those lucky enough) , but it's about 40 euro a week help with Crèche fees if you are working. With any supports available to working people, that and more are available to non workers. I don't blame people in lower paid industries opting out tbh.
Despite the "pay our pensions" mantra, the way our tax base is structured, low income jobs don't contribute much (not a bad things imo).
It is Micheal Martin after all...
We've listened to the people and will not be going into coalition with FG...
There was no bank bailouts...
Ireland wants nothing to do with a backwards idea of sovereignty....
Without doubt the worst leader I've seen in my lifetime
Yes its sensible to bring in refugees and migrants where there is not proper resources and accommodation and expect citizens to provide it .
Pronounced Lackey back home. So basically said NGO grifter has gone from Lucky; for even still being here to being instilled an already overly prominent Lackey for the movement. And a sizeable movement of jah people it is, all the while he’s a somehow a “minority” here he’s (made feel) special . In this era of globalism our world view has somehow extended to an African being the minority, and not the islanders themselves. How many Africans, do you think not entirely dissimilar to each other would come here for that opportunity alone?
..and so you scratch your head and ask yourself how did this happen here, what type of crazy. Is this even real? Another reason when they show up at immigration they need only point the finger and utter one word of English. In claiming ASYLUM!
Can’t go against the hive mind of boards.
Obafemi was on fire against Scotland, what a little legend
RTE news : Obafemi lights up Lansdowne as Ireland beat Scotland
If you listen to his accent in his interview he's got a London accent.
The Republic have been capping lads with London accents for years, some of them have been black.
Clinton Morrison was playing up front for the Republic with Robbie Keane 20 years ago. Nobody made a deal of it.
.and so you scratch your head and ask yourself how did this happen here
Um, no? It's obvious how all this came about.

What are the bets? Slap on the wrist for the employer (which in no way reflects the cost to the State) and everyone gets to stay and gets citizenship?
I’d put money on it….”The operation involved more than 40 personnel, including interpreters and document examiners.”
nice OT bill to man up an operation like that I’d imagine.
