Does anyone know why they're moving the Monday show to Acast? Extra revenue source maybe?
Noticed a few podcasts making this move recently. Assume it's a financially motivated decision.
Yeah, there's going to be ads on the non subscriber shows this coming Monday onwards. It will remain ad free for subscribers
Ken on Tonight on Virgin Media talking about the Golf.
A researcher obviously heard his piece on it earlier this week.
Couldbe mad but on the 3 seconds of Lunchtime Live i heard before I could get to the radio I thought I heard Malachy Clerkin's voice.
Not even sure why I'm posting this, now that I think about it
All the golf journalists in Ireland must be wondering how the fcuk did Ken Early get this gig 😂
Makes sense really, most podcasters that have a membership/patreon/etc feed use Acast for the free version... More power to them I'd say
Maybe by not licking the hole of one of the world's most financially and ethically dubious "sports" ? 😁
Irish Times Politics podcast is on Acast. Ads often break in without warning mid-sentence!
I always enjoy Lawrence Donnegan but never knew he was in Llyod Cole and the Commotions...and The Bluebells.
Loving "Golf" Ken.
Came here to post that!
I thought 'what kind of a crazy analogy is this?' until I googled him 😲
I've been a Murph critic before but Murphand Ken combo worked really well this week. Better than Eoin and Ken I would say!
Murph has been good this week, but things can get a little smug between the two of them when himself and Ken are working together.
Each of them likes to assert a bit of dominance over the other. I've no doubt Murph's extensive use of Irish in yesterday's outro was a flex to leave Ken with little in the way of a reply.
Today's episode is slow coming to my podcast player (pocketcasts) for some reason. I got the email at 12:30 but still no podcast weird.
Murph has been good this week but his interview with Caitlin Thompson was very hard to listen to i thought, he kept stumbling over his questions. I think the fact Eoin gets on so well with her just highlighted the issue. I wonder way Mark never does back up presenter anymore probably too busy on the next where is George Gibney
I really like Caitlin but it's half wasted having her on without Eoin. 2nd time it's happened too. Nothing against Murph but Eoin and Caitlin is one of my favourite chemistries on any show.
I did like hearing the birds in the park in the background, which was nice.
I think the chemistry on air is interesting. Basically Ken finds Murph slightly annoying when he's the third wheel but gets on great with him when its just the two of them (when Eoin is off).
Was yesterday's podcast one of the first times Ken got really involved with a conversation with a non-football or non-"politics" guest?
My brother who is on holiday in San Francisco at the moment, was trying to pay a parking meter and couldn't figure it out so the guy in the q behind him goes here let me get that for you and sticks his credit card in it.... My brother got chatting to him and recognised his voice who was it only Lawrence Donegan... Small small world we live in.
Does Ken Burley count?
Well you could make the case for it being as much a political podcast as a sports one given the topic
I don't know why but this reminded me of the "Did he get to the Euros" bed which always cracks me up
ken Burley was Ken's alter ego. These were his first appearances...
hard to believe it was so long ago.
Ah yeah but they clearly knew that he was on the wind up, didn't they?
2 Birleys at the 2011 RWC, any since though?
They gave it up as they reckoned it was bad luck. Whenever Ken did it Ireland got beaten. He did do one or two more though after that..........I think.
There was more, but that Welsh radio show was axed and that was it.
He did it on New Zealand radio as well.
Galway - Armagh should make for some amusing podcasting. :D
No sign of today's podcast yet on pocket cast...
Same here, and was the same last week. I wonder if something has changed in how they publish now that they've moved the non-world service Monday feed to Acast?
