NATO isn't fighting in Ukraine.
There are a lot of volunteers helping fight the Red Army though.
Calling them mercenaries is setting the stage for them to be shot. The Geneva convention not applying to mercenaries.
Mercenary in this context is straight out of the FSB spin department.
They "confessed" to being mercenaries in the show trial.
Doubt Putin cares about executing them or the Geneva conviction, the same lad has ordered executions on British soil.
Would be interesting to see how they play it though, it would certainly illicit a response from the UK if they were to go ahead.
Orla Guerin saying on the BBC that the sham "republics" take their orders directly from Putin and this is very likely his doing.
They would have admitted to helping Fanny Kaplan, a Ukrainian Jew, try kill Lenin if they were pushed and they surely had it rough.
No clue, I'm afraid. Sorry.
This is interesting How Russia invaded Ukraine as told by FSB colonel Girkin | Euromaidan Press
Girkin also admitted Crimea referendum was held at gunpoint and was false
Except their not giving them their selling them to Ukraine.
Part of the lend lease
My beautiful white Ruskies. We are taking "our" lands back. But don't worry my beautiful Ruskies. I won't send you to die in Ukraine. I'll send my brown Ruskies who live on dog food and who have this nonsense sense of "Redmondite" urge to fight in my sted. Don't worrry your heads. No bombs will fall in Russia. If they do a thousand bombs will fall in the West. My beautiful, beautiful Ruskies. Who does your Daddy love??
Bozok.....testing on Russians to begin soon.
Accounts purporting to be Indians or Pakistani, but blatant bots are very common as well.
Seems that's happening already with stolen airlanes and oil
Now I wonder why the Sri Lankans would allow the Russians to make off with someone's else's airplane ...
Them Ruskies need every Boeing & Airbus plane they can get their hands on. Even then their aviation industry is on borrowed time.
I wonder if the 3 soldiers are eventually shot will it make some who have gone to fight for Ukraine from other countries just leave and not continue fighting against Russia. Its one thing to get killed in combat but I would imagine its completely different if you know that you literally can't surrender now as you will be put on trial and executed. I know people will say I will fight to the death etc. and a lot will but most would i would imagine always at least have in the back of their minds at least I can surrender now that option will be taken from people they might see staying there in a slightly different light.
Clare Daly in the eu parliament today welcomed the weakening of eu support for Ukraine in being involved in an unwimable war against a nuclear super power, in other words they should have just surrendered. Obviously any other country Putin has his eyes on should do the same, like Sweden judging by today’s interview.
Clare and Mick are obviously hard line communists judging by their constant pro Russia stance
Any chance we could crowd fund for one way tickets to the motherland for both of them?
I don’t think any of the people fighting in Ukraine ever believed they would be able to just surrender to Russia and live happily ever after.
Good article. It sounds like the entire Russian aviation industry is going to be screwed for years to come. Nobody will lease them planes ever again or want anything to do with them. It's almost as if Putin doesn't give a toss that he is about to wipe out the airline sector there.
We have (Ireland) a huge number of planes leased over there, was watching something not long ago about how they just didnt give them back!
From the Times: Dublin-based AerCap, the world’s largest aircraft leasing company, is the most exposed to Russia’s law, with 152 aircraft valued at almost $2.4 billion (€2.1 billion) rented to Russian airlines. A spokeswoman for the company said it had no comment about Russia’s draft law.
SMBC Aviation Capital with 34 aircraft valued at $1.3 billion is the second most exposed company in the Irish sector.
It wouldn't prove they were Communists. If you were following the news the last few weeks, you'll have seen that there were members of the Communist party of Russia who opposed the war and faced consequences for that outspokenness. I would say that if you're judging by their stance on Russia, then they're a couple of utter d*ckheads.
Why don’t they sell them planes.
Why are you expecting sailorman1451 to be able to answer this?
Definitely looks like Putin has no intention at stopping at Ukraine (in his insane mind anyway) he sees him myself like the Tsars of old expending the borders of the empire.
Russia needs to be ground to dust in Ukraine before there's fighting in Helsinki, Stockholm and so forth.
It's 1938 and Ukraine is Czechoslovakia. Europe cannot afford to make the same mistakes again. So the Scholz and Macron need to cop the fcuk on.
On the war fronts, its looking quite good by Kherson but elsewhere is dicey. Lot of reports the UAF are running short on weapons and bombs. They urgently need resupply.
And on those Brits who were sentenced to death. They were fully member of the UAF. Executing them is a war crime. The UK should send over some very long range sea/ costal weapons to Ukraine if they are indeed murdered.
He can't actually take on anyone else no matter how he talks it up and the imperialistic delusion has been there for quite some time. That's one of those home consumption things that make no sense in the real world.
So, he wants to be Putin the Great - if only he'd aspire to be Putin the Mediocre it would have saved many thousands of lives. This guy cannot win in Ukraine. Ukraine has done Europe a huge service by not rolling over for Russia (as was expected by the Great and Wonderful OZ Putin).
The delusion is the problem. In his mind maybe he can take on the world.
We knows he can't, but maybe he doesn't. And his delusion is probably reinforced by all the cowardly western leaders who are afraid to tell him where to go.
His only actual threat to any other country are the nukes. Even to a deranged mind like Putin that's an enormous gamble and realistically means the end of him and his country. He wants to be able to declare a victory, even a very tiny and Pyrrhic one like Donbass. I think part of that will be in play once peace negotiations start properly but we're a very long way from that.
Agree. I'm guessing that Macron might want to keep a wedge open on the idea of getting Russia to agree to a peace deal, but even before the war he gave off the appearance of Chamberlain waving about his agreement papers shouting "Peace in a our time!". We all know how that goes.
This war is worse than 1938's Czechoslovakia, I feel it's more akin to 1939's Poland and we're now in the "Phoney War" stage where we're all "at War", but no shots have been officially fired yet. Putin cannot be offered a consolation prize for what he is attempting to do. If he can glean any win from this, he'll re-arm and try this again in a few years.
The Russians need to be defeated fully in Ukraine and pushed out of the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine, Donbas and Crimea included. Then the removal of sanctions should only be discussed on the back of Russian disarmenent and some form of UN monitored DMZ along the fronter between the 2 countries.
This 👆I have my doubts that if a NATO member country was attacked by Russia, that everyone would step up to the mark.
