No one has ever asked me in the last 12 months if I'm vaccinated, never...for any reason. Even then it was useing the NHS app to get into the odd pub or restaurant.

Also had the joy of transiting the middle east just after MERS quietened down.... some COVID restrictions would be consider lax compared to some of the measures they had in place...

SE Asia was mentioned as that is one of the areas where Yellow Fever has it's origins... without a vaccine it spreads ridiculously fast, and in the hot climate can kill quite quickly if not treated... so I'm hardly going to use Ireland as a reference... I don't understand the communist reference, because it is implemented for most travel to and from SE Asia when there is an outbreak (you'll get checks in European airports with direct flights)..
F&M was far from voluntary and discretionary, full bio-suits were the norm on farms for months where people moved from one segregated area to another to avoid cross contamination (vets, inspectors, livestock movers etc...)

Anyone who travelled abroad during foot and mouth outbreak in the early 2000's would have seen the precautions at the airports and ports. To say there was nothing done is false.
And let's not forget, F&M was nowhere near as virulent, nowhere near as infectious, and, most importantly, DIDN'T AFFECT HUMANS. It was devastating to certain livestock animals, but humans couldn't catch it unless they were in close proximity to infected animals, and even then only rarely.
The reason people weren't forced to do anything is because it was not an airborne virus that could be passed to others without direct contact. and even then, they were forced to do certain things to prevent it from being indirectly passed from one country to another. I'm not saying that it's proportionate to "forced" vaccinations, I'm saying it's proportionate to the risk that was posed by F&M at the time, which was negligible. People WERE forced to do stuff before gaining entry to other countries. And this is for something that humans can't even catch at a statiscially significant level. Of course when another disease, that is much more contagious and much more deadly to humans, surfaces we should escalate the precautions and reactions. Plenty of others have been forced to get vaccinated against numerous diseases in order to enter other countries for decades. This is not news.
And yes, I am willing to sacrifice a few personal liberties if it means that it limits deaths and other long term health implications for some of the most vulnerable in society.It's called being a human being and having compassion for your fellow man.
