Not one bit surprised that there is rot in ABP. I'd say there has been a considerable amount of "New Politics" in planning over the last 2 decades. I hope O'Brien gets the finger out and initates a full investigation. A real one that doesn't take 7 years.

We have issues and they need to work together but anyone who think just dropping in a new party and suddenly the issues will be resolved is sadly mistaken. And before everyone jumps on the post saying “oh we shouldn’t change so” I didn’t say that, I am pointing out facts, not waffle from some opposition party
And even more to the credit of the people providing public service they are doing it despite the **** show we have in government. Pushing the boulder up hill at all times. A lot of great people on the ground at the coal face of public service. Hopefully we get a government that works with them instead of against them in the near future. Who that is is anyones guess.
i am asking because you are attacking a journalist over using sock puppet account and a TD just for sharing an article. Yet on boards you recommended and debated to have them to be allowed.
You also support a party who uses them all the time, so have you asked them to stop?

Hard to think that Harris was a member of Sinn Fein once. Then SF split into Provisional and Official SF (Stickies) and Harris and his pals ended up in the Stickies. If Harris was still writing for the Sindo, he'd probably claim that he was responsible for the rise of SF. :)

I think that Harris ranted against "Factualism" during his time training reporters at RTE describing it as "foreplay that never penetrates the truth". If Martin was paying any attention to Harris, he was being quite stupid. FF was heading for an increase in the number its seats in the 2020 GE. It had 45 seats and could even have won over 50 seats but Martin's support for Flanagan's Black and Tans/RIC commemoration and the his grovelling to FG (the C&S agreement where FF got no mercs and percs) lost seats for FF. FF lost 7 seats.
Even the propaganda onslaught from Harris and his like-minded types in the Sindo, Indo, Irish Times and RTE did not work. If you listen to the music from the SF party political broadcasts, it uses some of the "Come out, ye Black and Tans" music.
What is interesting is Cowen's motion in that it is effectively seeking to reposition FF for a post-Martin era.
Do you remember his diatribe on the radio about the honourable man Michael Martin was? Cringe level stuff.

No surprise there. Flanagan wanted to commemorate the Black and Tans/RIC and that effectively amplified FG's seat losses in the 2020 GE. If you look at the Politico.eu graph linked above, FG was doing quite well in the December 2019 opinion polls and then Flanagan's Black and Tans/RIC commemoration issue kicked off and FG's support collapsed. Every party that Harris "advised" seem to have had a subsequent electoral disaster.

The article is written by Mark Dooley not by Charlie Flanaghan. Charlie just said "Agree or disagree, this is well worth reflecting upon", bit of a stretch to say he is promoting it
