You seem to have issues with every single post and your interpretation. Did I say FF and FG had nothing to do with it? No I didn't
Capeesh?
Ireland is alot bigger than Dublin.
You blaming DCC for the housing crisis in Dublin?
Nothing to do with FF and FG sure
The current one has investments in REITs ffs.
Why do you continue to push this lie?
The Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien has confirmed that he invested €30,000 into a real estate investment fund in 2008.
Mr O’Brien said that he lost 50pc of the investment when he sold it on for €15,000

The ones who get turfed out of rentals because the laws got changed and LL moved out of rental market. Too much risk for the LL so they moved to short terms rentals etc which is a lot easier. Described in details on lots of threads if you want to research.
It only takes a 5 year period of not building to create a huge demand, especially when the government has attracted lots of jobs to Ireland. As we seen below, 74 houses in 2018 for a city of 1m+ and at that stage we already had a homeless crisis. You could accuse the people involved in DCC at that stage of using political tactics to make the housing crisis even worse.
"As a tax payer" 😂 so we should change the entire country to suit your requirements because you pay tax? hate to tell you lots of people pay tax and the plans have to be for everyone. It goes back to the large brush strokes comments made on here just to get a reaction.
The government has to build houses/apartments, simple. Hopefully all parties come together to let that happen. If not don't expect it to get any better
https://www.thejournal.ie/social-housing-report-2-4529232-Mar2019/
How do you explain all the homeless working people? The ones who get turfed out of rentals?
There was only a five year period when an opposition party had the most seats on DCC and even then FF/FG had more seats combined. Also the minister for local authorities and housing was less than worthless. The current one has investments in REITs ffs.
As a tax payer I hope all the 25 year lease luxury apartments with no option to buy are blocked.
Anyone got a sock puppet handy?
So you are now coming in just to pass comment? You probably don't see the irony.
I'm engaging, which is the point. But you had to try a poke.
You are a strange definition of nothing.
Dublin is currently see the issues brought about by the lack of social housing built from 2014 to 2019. The government needs to build houses/apartments and this takes time. If DCC had done its job in those years it would be a better situation.
Also the constant blocking of houses/apartment is a huge slow down of progress, all parties need to come together to resolve this issue. Enough is enough with the strategic blocking of houses/apartments to increase the issues in Dublin for political gain
I do admit the government need to do more to attach back landlords into the market but that will mean changes the laws back towards the LL and not fully swung to the tenants, which I am sure you would love to happen :-)
Haven't you just this minute in this post come "in to pass comment, without answering any questions or explaining any point of view"?
You probably don't see the irony.
Top priority? Rents have increased more and more under this Govt and they are doing NOTHING to change that, they have done NOTHING for renters for 1 example restore the rent credit.
C'mon, they've made it worse tbf.
No, they have decided to do nothing.
Have you not watched the news/papers/internet for the past two years when this was a top priority?
Is the Govt going to do anything about the rent crisis?
SO maybe explain how the "cosseted OAPs get more than enough"?
You were all over the shop when it comes to falsities. First you said we had a superior nurse-bed ratio and wondered what they were all doing (even though we have very poor bed capacity!). I provided you with evidence why your nurse-bed ratio was flawed. Then you blamed the nursing unions (who are run by nurses) for telling the truth of it. I'll find the posts, give me time 😉
Amazing how they can find the money to solve all these problems once their own political careers are on the line.
Regards...jmcc
Your commitment to the cause is most commendable.
Surely it's about time? The cosseted OAPs get more than enough.
You are quite clearly describing yourself.
Read the posts. People are discussing topics. You might not agree but only you are coming in to pass comment, without answering any questions or explaining any point of view. As you say, get up the yard.
As we have seen here today it doesn't matter what the government does you have the same people trying to find fault. That's no problem and you are entitled to your own opinion
but.....
don't go around telling everyone else they are wrong when it is clear you have no idea what is good/bad/indifferent because you have already made up your mind it is bad. The "oh everything is terrible, woe is me" is hilarious to be honest, as Mr T would say "jibber jabber"
There was an upgrade to institutes of technology for a few larger RTCs in the 1990s but the universities and gombeen politicians kicked up and a Labour education minister upgraded all of them. Universities are economically useful to the constituencies so more universities would be competition hence the lobbying against other cities and regions getting full universities hence the TU thing.
yes, we are always in a state of flux, change is always occurring, but you can clearly see the elements of state protectionism in regards our own university sector, dont be surprised if this is all what ll occur here, i.e. ultimately a name change, this has happened before!
Things are changing. Look across Europe and look at what the traditional universities are doing. When they started as RTCs, a key component was the work practice element. Now, that has spread to the traditional university sector.
oh we ll see! yes they are indeed hugely important to their regions, but clearly the current universities, and their status, are far more important!
Again, you are demonstrating your lack of knowledge about the process of creating the technological universities, and what is happening within them. They are hugely important for the regions and hugely important to help deliver of Project 2040.
obviously! tu's were introduced to quieten the objections in increasing the number of uni's in the country, in order to project their exclusivity, current uni's dont actually want this increase, so we got tu's instead, this will more than likely lead to just a name change, similar to the rtc it change over, but only time will truly tell!
You obviously know nothing about it.
hahaha, you keep believing that!
You can hope, I suppose.
I have always said that the best chance of re-election for this government is to last the five years. That remains my opinion.
Where the polls are at now only helps to confirm that, and if an amateur internet poster can see that, so too should the politicians.
Is there another opinion poll to be published this weekend? Will the DAA fiasco have an effect on FFG %s?
Politico.eu has a poll of polls (a combined graph of all polls sinc ethe 2020 GE) that looks quiet scary for the government parties and Labour.
https://www.politico.eu/europe-poll-of-polls/ireland/
In June 2020 (Covid), FG was on 35%, FF was on 14% and SF was on 27%. At the end of 2019, FF and FG had 50% of the support. Politico.eu's graph shows that they only have a combined 37% of the support and the latest RedC poll shows that SF is more popular than the combined FF/FG %. If FF's suppport continues to fall, could it lead to FF leaving the government on some issue before December?
Cowen's motion does seem to be moving against the neo-Unionist/Partitionists in FF and trying to get FF to take ownership of the Border Poll issue. Could this attempt to renationalise FF upset the neo-Unionist/Partitionist FFG supporters and take some of the floating vote back from SF or will the Housing/Health issues ensure that that floating vote will remain with SF?
