i think one of the things that did her in was the expert talking about the pictures and how they all had metadata indicating they went through photo editing software.
i dont know why the native photos weren't just used, or at least asked for by depp's team.

Just because a lawyer takes on a role, doesn't mean they necessarily believe it. They could probably see through Heard's inconsistencies just as much as Depp's legal team. They're all brewed from the same crop.
I dunno. Admittedly I know next to nothing about the practical aspects of US law, but like many people I've watched movies or tv shows, which make a big song and dance about defence attorney's giving the defendant their day in court, and innocent until proven guilty.. and all that jazz. Sure, a lot of it is showmanship, but there's a common thread throughout all such media.. that regardless of the guilt/innocence of the defendant, the defence attorneys should work them as being innocent, getting the best possible outcome for their client.
So it wouldn't matter the actual inconsistencies, it would have been their jobs to coach her to hide them, and to ensure that Depps team didn't find the inconsistencies... and find counters to such claims. Except we really didn't see much of that. We saw a lot of vagueness, disorganised questioning without any particular focus, rather childish logic, etc.

For me, the lowest point was when, I can't recall her name, but Amber Heard's attorney questioned the psychologist and tried to make a point about "...but you told your husband that you'd be defending Mr Depp?"; draining time and energy on stupid points like this.
The psychologist had an understandably incredulous look on her face throughout the ordeal.
It also demonstrated the little raw material Amber Heard's team had to work with that they had to resort to this kind of embarrassing cross-examination.

Sick result, he was caught on tape, and in texts wanting to burn her body and piss on her corpse , he's a drug addict, and an alcohol, makeup artist testified that she covered Ambers bruising, but the defense would show photos of Amber one day with a bruise, next day without, when she went out, and the defense would be acting like they had never heard of this magical thing called makeup.
Innocent he is not, had this been a judge trial, and not a jury one she's have won. No common sense in a jury when dealing with a celebrity

Perverse and depressing verdict. The truth is no longer a defence in the US, it seems.
The power of the mob and the cult of celebrity and power has real life consequences for justice, as was seen in the OJ Simpson trial, and it has been seen again here.
The statements by Heard that have been perversely deemed "defamatory" by the jury have been proved truer than ever by i) the bare fact of Depp taking the case ii) the vicious online hate campaign against Heard and iii) the vicious, hate filled online mob reaction to the verdict.
Every progressive social movement in US history has been followed by a vicious reactionary backlash that reverses progress. The #metoo movement is no exception. This was about vicious backlash. The logical upshot of the aim to destroy #metoo is the de facto legitimisation of rape, sexual abuse and violence against women.
Depp has become the poster boy for those who seek that dystopia.

In fairness, amber Heard is an aesthetically beautiful woman with an incredibly ugly personality and attitude.
I suspect the Judge in this case, by the end of it, would have ruled in his favour too.
As for common sense, you're showing a remarkable ability to ignore the evidence presented, and the analysis made. Nobody is painting Depp as any kind of angel, just not the abusive monster that Heard attempted to advertise him as. Interesting too where your sympathies are.. all things considered.

So if the jury ruled that Heard's allegations were NOT a hoax, which they did rule, how are her statements in the Washington Post piece defamatory?
Bear in mind that the UK courts accepted that she had proved that 12 instances of assault by Depp against her happened.
So, the jury has not just contradicted itself in giving these verdicts but ruled that it is defamatory to write something which has been accepted as proved by UK courts?
The jury couldn't even fill out the forms properly when giving the verdict. We are not dealing with the brains of America here.
It's as clear as **** day we are dealing with idiots who have been grossly influenced by the right-wing media and online hate campaign against Heard.
The wife of one of the jurors even called Heard psychotic.
This trial will have a chilling effect on free speech and the right of victims to speak up. And that's exactly what it was designed to do.
This is not justice, it's an embarrassment to America.
