Investing in a property doesn't make you a vulture fund, it makes you an investor.
Nobody is going to build houses for free.
The fact is they are vulture funds and they do what Vulture Funds do. Which is to buy property and flip it so they can make their money.
Then majority of people in the World are vulture funds so. If someone buys a house, lives in it for 1-20 years, upgrades it etc and then sell it they expect to make a profit after all the money they invested in it. They don't expect to sell it at a loss. The size of profit is dependent on a number of things
With the amount of idiotic, mutually exclusive ideas and schemes by this government, I can only think is to piss people off so much at any authority/government, that it'll lead to increased anger when SF come to office and fail miserably (and its a when at this stage)
Nearly every pension fund in Ireland is invested in some way in property. Are all pensioners and people paying into their pensions Vulture Funds.
Yes it will be someone else fault if an opposition party fail if they get elected into government 🤣 the excuses have started early
Cant wait until they get the chance.
The corruption they might expose as they will have access to alot of, lets say dodgy deals over the years could finish FF and FG forever
I am by no means a SF voter
Of course you are not...just seems strange you are already predicting the inability of a government to do it's job because of the predecessor. What's the point in voting them in then?
I won't be, didn't get any preference from me last time, they likely won't next.
I despair at politics at the moment and all parties drunken spend spend spend approach.
Would this have no affect on housing do you think?
Do you think pedantry changes the fact that poor policy involving REIT's and the like has us where we are?
What is the alternative? people want to spend spend spend. The government is doing what the people are asking for. Build a million houses etc
The Govt are not doing what the people are asking for. They are spending money alright, spending it wrongly is the problem
Thats a big reason SF are so popular
Run to the dictionary to get pedantic rather than discuss the topic. Getting old.
I'm not sure that's what people do want, certainly not just pumped into black holes.
It's what the media/parts of Twitter want. And you are right there is zero alternative, very little between any of the parties.
No and you know that. Not all vulture funds are publicly listed.
And it’s spend spend spend on the wrong priorities- ie those that contribute nothing and not in infrastructure which pays a future dividend. It’s pathetic
Interesting the additional interests the Chairman of Tetrarch Capital, owner of the City West Hotel has had , present and past, UNICEF, Communicorp , Esat Telecom etc etc .
Paul Connolly
Paul has been Chairman of Tetrarch since July 2013. Paul founded Connolly Capital, a boutique investment banking firm in 1991, and he is an internationally experienced corporate financier, private equity investor and non-executive director with over 30 years hands on experience primarily in the media, telecom and hospitality sectors.
Currently Paul serves on the Boards of HT&E (Australia), Communicorp Group and he is Chairman of the private Irish media group Business & Finance as well as UNICEF Ireland.
In the past Paul has served on the boards of two NASDAQ quoted companies, EsatTelecom Plc and Hibernia Foods Plc, as well as the boards of Irish media company Independent News & Media Plc, Melita plc and Digicel. In addition, Paul was a Senior Advisor to Credit Suisse through January 2018.
Working people want affordable housing. This is exactly not what the government are delivering
We already had the discussion about affordable houses. In the end the outcome was the houses are affordable for some and not for others. Free houses is what people seem to be fixing them up with
If I recall correctly Start Mortgages (Vulture Fund) first entered the market offering mortgages and went on to purchase distressed mortgages at enormous discounts. They no longer write new mortgages, soley focus on yielding profits from distressed mortgages they paid very little for, many from PTSB .
Are you taking the piss? This has to be a windup.
Just build the fin Metro!
The people are actually asking the government to (a) provide a functioning Health system (b) fix the Housing market that they broke and (c) stop the Corruption/Cronyism (d) get our national Debt down to a manageable level to mitigate for 'future' economic shocks and (e) tackle climate change in meaningful ways
Fail, Fail, Fail, Fail, Fail.
They don’t want to as it would mean no short term political benefit.
Thus are not interested in it. It’s very sad. One of the things I did admire FF for was building a somewhat decent motorway network the past two decades or so. Sadly that kind of ambition seems dead now.
I think were both aligned on that. Though given the paucity of options merely starting and committing to it would win my vote.
Instead well put the money into black holes for little benefit. It's infuriating.
I see English wants to provide 40k work permits, where are these people going to live, how does it effect the housing programme.
Can we have some joined up thinking please
The two main parties are now known as FF. Fianna Fail
English knows it's all about the soundbites and making sure that if he is interviewed, it will all be on script with no difficult questions asked.
Don't disagree, but more and more the electorate are realising that multiple briefs seem to be at odds with each other. None of which are doing anything to benefit 80 percent of the country.
How many times in past 2 years has FG left FF out to dry?
