Doesn't look like there's a thread yet (sorry for the lack of an intro 😁)
Danny Ric in the barriers in FP2
Pitwall: "Is the car all right?"
Danny Ric: "Em, I'm all right"
😬
I think Redbull would have settled for that pre-race,
The race win and Max finishing ahead of Charles.
Ha, the idea that perez would be allowed to defend the position if max was behind, brilliant, best laugh of the afternoon, he would be told to leave the racing line while he let max through so max didnt have to get his tyres dirty.
Good for checo, he must be delighted to see a ferrari behind him, only way they'll let him win.
Alonso's antics, as entertaining as it turned out to be, has cost Ocon 2 points.
Perez’ radio engineer needs to calm down, going way overboard with the enthusiasm there…
Another solid race for Russell in the lead Mercedes.
He has bested his team mate in the last 6 races of 7 so far.
He has bested his team mate in the last 7 races including the Sprint Race.
Can't not be happy for Perez, to be fair!
I think that dispels the myth a lot of people were peddling after the last race that Red Bull favour one driver or the other which ignored the fact that they were on entirely different strategies and Max was significantly faster. Perez had the edge here and they prioritised him and put him on inters first which was what got him the win. If they’d stopped Max first it would have put him in the lead but it made sense to prioritise the lead car on track.
Leclerc isn’t happy and can’t blame him. That was a mess from Ferrari. Good stuff for Checo to get the win. Not sure what alonso was up to after the second restart. He didn’t help his team mate. I good bit of excitement with the top four really close together.
Hopefully the last "Race" at this track.
Cars have outgrown it.
Alonso antics slowing Hamilton has bit Alpine on the arse as Hamilton slowed Ocon so he didn't finish in the points. As Alonso would say "Karma"
So the standings after that:
Verstappen 125
Leclerc 116
Perez 110
Nice touch from max, straight over the perez to congratulate.
Enjoyed that race.
Still worth it though! I thought it was hilarious!!!
So,
Now we just have to wait and see if there are any penalties for max going over the pit exit line and I think there was an incident noted by stewards with Perez at pit exit as well.
That race proves absolutely nothing as the main priority was to keep the Ferrari behind.
If Red Bull weren't favouring one driver over another, they wouldn't have punished Perez three times for Max going off at Barcelona.
The gap at the top is 15 points from Max to Checo. If Checo was given a chance to race Max in Barcelona then there's a chance it would be 3 points now.
Coulthard does a good interview.
Just me or does it seem a bit frosty between Checo and Max?
There will not be any such penalty.
100% any one who says otherwise is delusional, only for sainz in between it would of been max in first after checo being told to conserve tyres or fuel or something. Happy for checo though glad to see a new winner this season it's only been max and Charles so far.
The Sainz win is just around the corner I can feel it.
What a great decision for RB to hire the services of Perez. He was on his way out of F1 if my memory serves me right.
Nah, it's turned out to be a bit of a d!ck move to do to your team mate in my opinion.
If Hamilton or Max did that they'd be ostracised for it. For the midfield teams those points matter a lot.
So much bo*****sology with modern day F1.
The lady there to explain the podium procedure.
😏
Only 1 point between 5th and 6th in the Constructors.
That loss of 2 points keeps Alpine in 6th.
Fair play they let princess charele out for the day
At least he got to the end this time. First finish around here.
How many laps did they do in the end?
Indy 500 on Sky Sports Action should be starting around 5.45, do yourselves a favour and watch it :P
Russell maintains his incredible record of finishing in the top 5 of every race this season.
No. Ocon's penalty cost him the points.
Yes, he is clearly the ‘best of the rest’, outperforming both the car itself and his teammate.
Not to mention the consistency.
Russell and Norris in a top team together would've been great to see before now, it's pretty clear they're both absolutely the real deal. I hope Norris can get into a top car soon, he's got other interests outside F1 and I could easily see him just kinda slide in a couple of years if there's no progress.
