“If you are not saying 'nothing to see here' what are you saying?” I’m trying to figure out what YOU are saying. You seemed to be suggesting that my pal was a member of FF. He’s not. Sorry if that doesn’t suit your prejudiced narrative.
Think that Donohoe might want to be leader. He was saying how he worked well with Michael McGrath/FF in an interview before Christmas and then the FG propaganda machine nearly had a meltdown. Coveney was the FG grassroots choice though. Varadkar was the FG parliamentary party choice and, even though Coveney had most votes, Varadkar was installed as leader and he lost seats for FG at every election since.
Regards...jmcc
I don't care about your pal in the slightest.
The topic is a FF'er winning his own raffle. What is your story about your friend to do with it? Are you saying 'nothing to see here' or just having a chat?
I’m amazed quite frankly that FGs National meetings on Gender Equality https://www.finegael.ie/fine-gaels-gender-equality-listening-to-you-roadshow-kicks-off-in-kilkenny-carroll-macneill/ haven’t given the party the huge boost it needs? Surely in these times of massive private rents, lack housing for working people, crippling levels of taxation on work, eye watering inflation, desperate infrastructure, endless hospital waiting lists, spiralling violent crime and completely uncontrolled migration that FG would be adding at least 5% being so in tune with the common man’s issues?
FG are in much deeper trouble than FF- there seems to be a bit of competitive hunger in FF that once they jettison Martin someone more clued in will take the reigns.
In FG it appears to be a race as to which one can be the biggest virtue signalling idiot possible. Christ if a dimwit like Mcentee is actually a serious “contender” then they’re rightly facing oblivion in the not too distant future. Rarely has someone so lacking in talent or intellect held down such an important ministry before. When you look back at the distinguished legal and professional careers some of her contemporaries had that held that position…and then there’s Helen from some makey up DCU degree who achieved nothing of any note ever in on her fathers name. It’s scary
Actually, not entirely surprised at the lack of Bacik bounce , since Kelly was Drop Kicked, he's barely been seen in the Dail, Aodhán Ó Ríordáin also missing in action with Duncan Smith the only other Labour TD showing up at the Dail regularly.
Problem for SF is that even on those optimistic mid-term numbers, they still aren't getting into government.
Nor are FFG
Marty lou is the next Taoiseach in waiting. Ex FG voter and traditionally I’m very antagonistic towards SF. But this is FF FG own doing- the public are rightly furious with them. Especially young people. FG will barely scrape 20 seats. FF 30. They are shells of their past parties.
Agreed, that is what the numbers say.
One very intriguing possibility would be a confidence and supply arrangement with SF going into government and either FF or FG supplying confidence. How long do people think that would last?
Probably as long as the last one did.
On what basis do you say that?
On the basis that FG will be on the sidelines licking their wounds not ready to go back in government and FF will be under new leadership that will not ever go into government with FG again. FF will also not want to collapse a government too early as that may hurt them.
Honestly as a Galway man who loves the GAA, I think this story is a nonsense. He supported and won the club lotto - so what. I am positive there was no skulduggery involved. A FF councillor could find much easier ways to make much more money quietly if he was that way inclined. We have seen the RTE Investigates programs. It was a cheap shot by the Mirror.
Indeed
A confidence and supply arrangement would require SF to find 15 TDs capable of being Ministers and another lot capable of being Junior Ministers. Given the current calibre of SF TDs, that would be manna to the opposition. A coalition would allow SF to take advice from those experienced in government.
That is why I see a C&S arrangement as most likely. FF and FG would sit back and watch SF make absolute fools of themselves.
Well the longer it goes on the better for FF so. FG will be on the sidelines for a hell of a longtime before they get back in government if in fact they ever get back in.
I don't know about that, a confidence and supply arrangement to let SF mess everything up would be bad for Ireland but good for FF and FG.
I really hope it doesn't come to that and all the other parties find a way of keeping SF out.
But RTE even gave Bacik a programme to help get her elected. They'll be devastated in Montrose if she loses her seat in the next GE. On the current Labour %, it would be lucky to hold 3 seats. Even the FGers that used to propagandise for Labour on Social Media have largely given up trying to defend it. Labour is just the Irish Times dinner party now and is totally disconnected from the Working Classes.
Well we know neither the Greens, FG or FF will leave a pension on the table, so if anyone uses them to prop up a government, they'll happily fill their trousers. I'd lose respect for any party touches any of them. Except maybe Lab who I've a low opinion of anyway.
Was much better when the well to do made our decisions for us, right?
....and the same can be said for most supposedly left leaning parties, the left needs to do some deep soul searching, and fast......
You are missing my point. You can't (not if you expect others to take you seriously) do the internet equivalent of pointing and laughing at the main opposition party, (the most popular party in the state according to the polls) "not having the numbers to get in" if the 2 governing party's are polling less than they are COMBINED.
FFG seem to be in a terminal deathly tail spin. I for one hope it's a permanent one.
Can you tell us who FF and FG have that would make good ministers and junior ministers because I can't see any? At this there are very very few people in any of the parties that seem capable of holding those positions.
FG won't touch SF
As each day goes on neither will FF.
With some of the parties links to criminals, will Ireland just turn into a criminal state? will it be safe for rival TD's in Ireland anymore? the online attacks are already in place, we have had drink thrown at TD's, abuse been shouted at them....it's just getting closer and closer to physicals attacks
When times get harder it’s substantive, practical solutions to the country’s pressing issues that people want to see.
The virtue signallers like O’Riordan and Bacik might be vaunted by social media and the Irish times, but when push comes to shove they actually hold very little truck with the common voter (who should be labours bread and butter)
and who in the opposition have come up with "Substantive, practical solutions to the country's pressing issues"?
None of the opposition have provided any of the sort.
Your constant online posts of everything anti opposition is akin to a young lad trying to stop the tide going out with a sieve.
FF and FG are in terminal decline, a merger might be their only chance of survival, but even if that happens, they'll still be up against an ever rising Sinn Fein party.
Just yesterday, you were simultaneously arguing about the housing crises questioning it's existence and who it was affecting, and later admitting it was happening, yet asking why opposition weren't getting in with those in govt to solve it.
You are on a wind up mission.
Couldn't agree more 😉
"Pot calling kettle black"
30 posts and nearly every one negative about the government
Then you make comments about other posters? hilarious
Are you here to discuss a topic or just another in a long line of SF accounts created to attack someone with a different opinion. You dont have to be afraid fo someone with a different opinion
"Get up the yard"
Another excellent contribution
