That's some amount of pine - weird house.
It would be like living in a coffin, especially in that βbedroomβ for hobbits in the attic. Gives me claustrophobia just looking at it. And then you have a perfectly normal, pleasant bathroom amid all the woody madness π€·ββοΈ
Surely that's a fire hazard!

I liked it too until it got to the bedrooms, they were a bit much with the walls done as well. The downstairs had a nice feel if you are into that kind of thing. It's cosy and a bit unusual :)

I like(d) wood, when done well, not sure why, but I am rapidly going off it. Another wood everywhere. I saw this last week, I was trying to figure out if the price is high like everywhere else or not. I realise it is fairly rural, but you get land (3 acres) and outhouses and it all seems in good nick..

Was wood all over a trend in recent years? I know it was often done in some rooms in the 60's or 70's, but these seem fairly modernish..

They should apparently have knocked down the old house and it still seems to be there, so that may be the planning issue.
There is such waste in this country. A brand new house rated BER D2, 3000 ft2 with a pool, all built without PP. Discoloration and damp already starting to appear in some rooms. No one living on the site and grass growing out of the gutters.
So, if someone bought it, then knocked down the old house, would it then comply with planning?
If that is what it is, yes. Might not be though.
Could you also apply to keep it up, and possibly restore it?
Not sure if there would be much demand for rent there (3Β½ miles to Edenderry), but would seem a shame to knock ut unless it has no hope...

Going by the engineers report on the old cottage attached to the original planning application from 2005, it sounds like it was in rag order then, let alone 17 years on.
Where the swimming pool is, was down as a sun room on the plans submitted. Probably one of many "alterations" that they "forgot" to mention
You could live in a house that does not abide by planning rules until someone complains or you want to sell it. If it is not compliant then your potential purchaser will not be able to get a mortgage. Someone could buy it (with cash) and live in it in the same circumstances. But if they want to make alterations that need planning permission they will have to get the old problems sorted before they can. Eventually it will all catch up with you and you will have problems.
You can't just use a house that there was a requirement to pull down, either you pull it down as per PP, or you get permission to turn it into a non-habitable building, like a store. This requires quite a complex bit of arguing (I have done it in those exact circumstances). What you will not get is permission to use it as any sort of habitation. You would be in breach of planning and also could have issues with say insurance, loans, or future permissions to do anything else.
A house for β¬15k has to be a bargain these days...yes it is in bits but I have seen worse on sale for more.
Wow. I like it a lot (the price helps π). I wonder how much it would go for, I'm guessing in the β¬30k's.

β¬15k for a site, which it effectively is, sounds very cheap.
There must be other issues- planning or access maybe- at play.
