Unfortunately government have conveniently arranged for no vote to take place
Back on, get the popcorn
😁 Will do
Let me get this straight...FG are paying people in Turkey to create fake accounts on Twitter and retweet their posts? How do ye know they are Turkish accounts? The names? Is that what ye are hearing? Is that even legal?
Smells an awful lot like Varadkar's idea for creating anonymous social media accounts to talk up the party.
Thing is fake likes, shares and retweets work for people trying to get advertising so they look popular to advertisers but politicians are trying to get their PR/spin out, so pretending they are reaching more than they are is pretty pointless.
Probably tax payer funded too. Saddos.
I see Green TD Patrick Costello, wrestling with his conscious this morning , wants a free Vote on the NMH , pulled out of a Morning Ireland interview this morning, Waivering perhaps 🤔 🤔
'Wrestling with his conscious' sounds more like he's trying to figure out which way the wind is blowing, from the public as well as any potential blowback from his party/government.
Indeed 😏 I was being generous
I know this wasn't aimed at me but - both. The rate of OAP has increased by multiples of CPI inflation since the mid 90s and rates of poverty, at risk of poverty, deprivation are lowest among the 65+ cohort when analysed purely by age. The current system is completely unsustainable but political cowardice is stopping any action. One or both of these things has to happen but governments will continue to kick the can until the latest possible time when it's someone else's problem
But unfortunately a fiscally conservative party that may actually represent the interests of net contributing tax payers and make hard decisions doesn't exist in Ireland
Embarassing for FF
Think it’s Eamon Ryan that normally wrestled with his conscious, particularly while in the dail.
costello will be wrestling with his conscience.
Not sure what game those guys are playing. Seemingly they strongly support building the hospital ASAP but I don't see how having a vote on the SF motion expedites that...
Just on this
So, an FF minister's tweets are retweeted by Turkish bots, allegedly at the behest of FF, and somehow it is Leo's fault?
How is the living space for him in your head?
To be fair he has since come out and said he will vote with the motion i.e against the government which means government majority will be down to the bare minimum.
By the way you twisted my actual comment, its clear who's got the issues. You know if this was the opposition you'd be riding it for all you could squeeze out of it.
Yes.
It's simply another case of FF/FG driving us into a cul-de-sac of their own making. The supposed best choice considering the position they put us in.
When I posted that hadnt been confirmed but fair play to him 😉
Seems some Greens still have standards.
Indeed, I suspect many are looking at Polls , debacle after debacle and thinking, independence might be a good look for the remainder of this governments term.
Government parties have been clever, allowing a free vote, because the motion means nothing.
I am still confused about whether the government every approached the nuns to buy the land outright? Did they do that or was it more lies? If so, what was the response from Rome?
They're abstaining rather than allowing a free vote so its a breach of whip. They haven't been clever at all they've been astoundingly stupid in fact.
Very clever indeed, potentially lowering coalition's majority to the bare minimum
Will the government even last the year now?
Interesting live line discussion on Nuns and legacy in child care if your interested in listening back.
My understanding standing is various health ministers Alledgedly enquired half heartidly about purchasing the site but with regard to the current Minister and despite he claiming he did ask, in the Dail, the chairman of the NMH catagorically stated no meaningful discussion took place on purchasing of the site in the past 5 years.
I personally believe government never had any real intention of buying the site.
Does Harris not have a tongue anymore? Or is he too busy sowing dissent?
Absolutely yes. It will go full term. And then most of them will lose their seats. Expect a lot of FG style New Politics in the meantime as they feather their nests.
He briefly spouted some nonsense a week ago about clarity, odd he's interested in clarity as he's yet to clarify if he intends to seek an apology from that bold SF TD, Matt Mc Carthy.
Harris was mentioned briefly yesterday by professor Peter Boylan who was discussing how long this debacle going on.
I wonder what the reaction would have been if they had paid full market value for the site.
