Not the current greens nope. They will never get my vote again. I think it would need to be a whole new party. Maybe the Eco party or something like that.. But one cracked egg, does not an omelette make.
More good news, hope the weather keeps up.
Now, they just need to raise the VAT up again so that we can fund public services.
And? your point is?
It took the Greens in government to get this over the line so they are getting your vote?
"This is years overdue. Well done to getting it over the line but we should have had a replacement for the Rotunda and Holles Street decades ago."
Okay....
"Anyone responsible for holding this up should hang their head in shame."
I am guessing the people responsible, are the people that were in charge decades ago and didn't build it then...
So.... FFG to blame again.
Well said.
This is years overdue. Well done to getting it over the line but we should have had a replacement for the Rotunda and Holles Street decades ago.
Anyone responsible for holding this up should hang their head in shame.
Let me tell you...
Reminded of this...
I'm actually speechless, words escape me apart from Rude ones, so to speak 😳
Senator John Cummins (FG) last night on CB live told a National tv audience that his salary of €70,168 plus a monthly allowance of €3,145 might mean that he has to apply for the Govts Affordable Purchase Shared Equity Scheme to buy a home
Thats why they hate SF. The third option really effs up their rotating 'us or them' electioneering. Now FF or FG need to look out for the tax payer and its a game of 'not it'.
The housing minister has shares in REITs. The former FG housing advisor, now minister is married to the former top man for Goldman Sachs in Ireland. 1 in 4 TD's are landlords.
Yeah, they want housing sorted....
I think for so long FF/FG could afford to pay lip service to it but ultimately turn a blind eye and let the vulture funds come in and do their thing because it was not costing them electorally. However as its got worse over the last few years its not just affecting young people who would never vote for them, the middle class who would be solid FG voters are now seeing how its affecting their own kids and they are understandably worried. Their kids have done little wrong and they are trapped in rental hell.
You still will see the usual " stop eating avocados" "personal responsibility " cliches been rolled out but even that has been muted somewhat.
The best defense for supposed conservative right leaning parties against socialism is house ownership and without that parties like SF are going to make hay and that's why FG are fucked next time round.
Its probably better for them a spell on the opposition benches where hopefully they realise they need to offer more to the squeezed middle is "get rid of your netfix subs" taunts.
Anytime you listen to a government TD talking about the housing/rental crisis, you realise they haven't got a clue and it will only get worse and worse and worse. Clueless. FF caused it, FG have made it much worse. The anger amongst young people (and their parents) is palpable.
I am reminded of Crony Coveney's promise from 5 years ago.
Coveney: 'I'm not crazy - I will end homeless families living in hostels' - Independent.ie
Housing Minister Simon Coveney has defended his plan to tackle the housing crisis - insisting "we're ahead of schedule".
And he vowed that despite a view that he was "crazy" to promise an end to homeless families being housed in hotels, he is "going to make that happen".
There's numerous candidates for the FG top job , all as equally unpalatable as Varadkar.
After Martin retires neither FF nor FG have any stand out leader. Varadkar isn't a hard act to follow but if either party are hoping to gain they'll need have a few high profile potentials, and they don't. No decent ones anyway but I suppose the party drones will follow along.
Yep that's it 😏 you can be sure there's more than one FG pee'd off
This could be it. Can't blame them for being p*ssed off with him, it's just surprising that it took any of them as long as it has so far.. 😅
One TD said Mr Varadkar has “some life” while the party is “left back here on 19pc” which was a reference to a Behaviour and Attitudes/Sunday Times opinion poll showing Fine Gael dropped five points.
Very Curious matter brought up earlier surrounding the New maternity hospital. The Chairman of the St Vincent group pressed by Roisin Shortall at a committee hearing earlier if there was an approach by government to Purchase the site, the chairman was quite emphatic that no official representation was made , more part of general discussion with HSE.
VMN helpfully played back David Cullinans Direct Question to Stephen Donnelly on the matter, were he asked the Minister had he asked directly if the Site could be purchased from the St Vincent's Holding group. His answer and in the Dail was a catagoric YES. he asked. This is not tallying with the response at the committee hearing today.
So at a minimum forgetfulness (yet again) or misleading of the Dail . Perhaps another case of having to correct the record so to speak 🤔
Wasn't there an unnamed TD not terribly impressed with Leo off attending and enjoying the Eurovision with the Polls so bad 😁, I heard mention of it over the weekend.
"My free piece of advice for FG is firstly you are probably goosed, but at least get rid of Leo, the man is an absolute albatross ."
They seem to not see it. It is baffling. Lost every election, There is nowhere really left for them to turn. Until they see it for themselves Leo will continue to be dragging them down. No doubt we can look forward to more meaningless movie quotes from December on. His tantrums, his bungling etc.
Even the scum newspaper saw it - https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/6823383/sun-says-irish-pm-leo-varadkar/
The only people that seem to think otherwise are his blind faithful on here and a few party members.
I have been reliably informed that FF/FG are fiscally responsible parties though?☺️
It might sound premature, but I think its time to talk about what a SF government would like , who will be the parties that will be along for the ride etc?
My free piece of advice for FG is firstly you are probably goosed, but at least get rid of Leo, the man is an absolute albatross .
SF almost double that of FG, and FF leap frogging them and rising..
It must be that time Sinn Fein something something... 😂
Do Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil really benefit from protecting the super rich ??
We can't say, however they do really look after them even when the deal struck is a loser for the taxpayer...then they repeat it again and again.
Aside from Cowen getting a job with O'Brien I wouldn't know. But I'd be so suspicious I'd be surprised it they all weren't laughing at the tax payer/money cow.
People forget that the new National Maternity Hospital was announced by that sheister James Reilly (FG) in 2013.
The cost of the project was put at about €150m, with building due to begin in 2016 and the new facility to open in 2018.
And yet 9 years later FFG cannot solve the ownership debate. Useless and uncaring, utterly useless.
And wait until we see the final cost...
The super rich like Larry Goodman , Denis O brien , JP McManus and others that divert their income through Luxembourg, Malta , Switzerland to avoid paying tax in ireland is breaking the system and means the government have less money to help ruin the country .
Probably. Some might even attempt to blame it on the war in Ukraine.
Regards...jmcc
More likely, on going Lessons being learned 😏
I wonder will the spin include talk of 'ceilings'?
More problems for FFG as FG slumps and SF gains in Sunday Times/B&A poll.
Poll/Pobalbhreith: Dáil Éireann
SF: 36% (+4)
FF: 24% (+1)
FG: 19% (-5)
LAB: 5%
GP: 2% (-2)
PBP/S: (+1)
SD: 2% AON: 1%
The Greens are being shredded too. There's going to be a lot of angry spin from FFG today.
Concede that SF aren't the reason they are losing voters. Tackle the reason that they are, and remove it.
