I was going to say - better than many, at least it doesn't have grecian columns, then I saw the staircase.
And the dust under the bed in pic 37.
I wonder did anyone live in it. It has an unlived in air about it, somehow.
The stairs remind me of the ones in my secondary school, years ago, run by the nuns. One building had a staircase that was only meant to be used by the nuns, and the other by the pupils. The staircases were a bit further apart in the school building but that just reminded me of them. π
Almost very room has a pellet burner, the oil bill to heat the place must be astronomical.
Iβm curious about the differing finishes either side of the entrance gates. Or is it a trick of the light? Seems a bit odd looking.
I wonder did he buy it for his mother and she simply found it to bid or rural.
Ok, this made me laugh and not in a good way.
love it.
The double stairs and then 3 steps to get to where you are going.....πππ
The pump house is 2 separate rooms, so no changes required for a granny flat.
Otherwise going from one floor to the other is a challenge as it doesnβt have a stairs.
You need to be very careful which door you leave by on the upper floor...
Christ, that's one ugly house, inside and out.
Cut a hole and put in a spiral. I love seeing old buildings like disused railway stations, gate keeper cottages, barracks etc get a new lease of life.
Horrible, horrible house π₯Ί
No redeeming features that I can see at all. Might look marginally better if lived in, but not much.
The stairs reminded me of Fiddler on the Roof..... one going up, a second one for going down - I wonder is there one going nowhere at all, that they didn't bother photographing??
The pumphouse has a main door opening into your bedroom regardless of how you organise it. And were would you put your bins, the top door opens directly into the road and I don't see the binmen going up that hill.
There is actually a third staircase, but I think it goes somewhere.
Photos 17, 29 and 41
The 2 in the main hall are just for show.
Imagine the mother trying to pretend she liked it.
'You really shouldn't have, no really, you SHOULDN'T HAVE' as she hightails it back to her actual home, where she most likely has lived happily for years. π
I don't see anything wrong with that Mullingar house. Not far from Mullingar to do the shopping or head to town and then also not far from Dublin either to do proper shopping. It would be expensive to heat though and even if I had the money to buy it I doubt I could afford the heating costs. I also live in the sticks so some of you city slickers may think that house is in the middle of no where, me though I like it and wouldn't mind owning it.
No proper shopping in Mullingar then ? π
I don't know there could be. I haven't been there in over 20 years.
The Niall Horan mammy house reminded me of a house that a lady was given and she just went a bit mad in the local furniture/stove shops.
They even had a M&S at one stage!

Re: McMansions near Mullingar, there is a big one beside the N4 near the Lough Owel car park. looks abandoned and unfinished. i used to pass that way frequently and it looked like a fella was tipping away at it but then stopped, I often wondered what happened.

Went bust when the tiger died?
Hadn't seen that before. Is there no plumbing or stairs?
Do you have to go around and up the hill to get in top floor or am I missing something?
EDIT - just saw it mentioned in the other comments, and the 2nd door upstairs... π
From the blurb underneath:
It is a two storey structure and is redbrick and could have multiple uses for the buyer.
Like what? Couldn't really use it as offices without plumbing.
I can't think of anything else you could use it for.
EDIT AGAIN - There seems to be plumbing I think...
Lots of space for activities (only funny if you have watched step brothers)
Well it is called The Pump House, so depending on what was being pumped it seems likely there would be both water and electricity. Still no stairs though.
