I see Mary Lou is joining the compo culture brigade with a defamation lawsuit against RTE.
MLMD doesn't make the law!!!!! What utter nonsense. What is she doing then in Dail Eireann, the law-making parliament?
Either you don't have a clue, or you are gaslighting.
It points out that once again you are a hypocrite.
On one hand, you want us all to shut up and leave poor MLMD alone while she sues the National Broadcaster over a radio piece you can't even bring yourself to admit you listened to. You want to treat all discussions here as if we are in the chamber of the four courts.
Then on the other hand you see conspiracies on boards.ie where the mods/admins are pro-royalists. You go in with two feet on the Maria Baily thread and accused Leo of breaking the law, something that got you threadbanned from that discussion.
Hypocrites generally don't have credibility. You don't have any right to tell us what to post regarding MLMD's defamation case against RTE given your posting history.
The internet doesn't lie Francie. That is what is has to do with it.
Nobody has defended MLMD but people are posting their support for her by proxy anyway.
Pull the other one.
Link me to this thread that I started Mark?
And by all means discuss away. I'll chip in with my tuppence worth if that's alright.
BTW, I gave my opinion on the Leo thread having seen all the details available at that time.
You are desperate for an angle. Show me were MLMD created the law, you have an issue with, she is exercising by using her right to Sue? I've no interest in one of your magical mystery tours.
Your imagination is getting the better of you. At least you accept you made it up.
He might mean you created the thread 'by proxy' :)
Where did I, or anyone, say that they could not comment?? I’ll wait for you to provide the quote. No doubt you’ll run away now
I asked why would they.
BECAUSE THEY WERE ASKED FOR A COMMENT.
Their excuse was "It would not be appropriate as it is in the Courts" not "eh, I dunno, nuttin' to do with us"
How has she prevented the media from commenting on it? RTE can release a statement at any time spelling out the legal action brought against them.
So the defamation that cannot be repeated (which according to you and your buddies is an interview), which is still up on the RTE website, for anyone to repeatedly listen to, is Mary Lou censoring RTÉ? Even though the interview is uncut and uncensored and available to all??
That’s some mental gymnastics.
I'm confused Brucie I have to say, If it suits on another thread this poster will claim the opposition are useless and do nothing but apparently now they make law.
Has FG made a statement? No? Something to hide??
Have they been asked?
Ya seem to be very touchy about the issue of the press asking SF questions ..... at least that is one consistency!!
You are the one saying that rte have nothing stopping them from commenting, not me
I am responding to posts stating the state broadcaster has been silenced. Maybe RTÉ have threatened Sf with a SLAPPS if they comment??
Donald, did you miss this? Can you give me your answer?
I did
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PRIVATE CASE
You haven't even tried to explain what it is you are waffling on about
What are we on to now? Is it just poisonous Nordie whataboutery crap? It's an awful pity that that is seeping in down here.
You want SF to comment. It isn’t their case.
Same as Coffey was pursuing his as a private citizen. Nobody would ask FG to comment and have a strop if they declined.
That's right. I remember you pointing out that when MB had her private case, that nobody in FG should be asked about it 🤣
Send Leo an email asking him about whatever case you want
Mod - Can you stop discussing each other and let's get back on topic please
How do you know?
It's only people of the blue shirt persuasion that are trying to silence anyone, Mary-Lou 😎
Maria Bailey made a complete arse of herself with a frivolous dishonest claim, resulting interviews and comic-sans press release regarding the booze fueled double fisting on a swing and the very people defended her claim are spending all day every day spinning yarns and attacking MLMD for exercising her right, before we even know the details. Gas lads.
Mod - Are you seriously bringing up a post from 11 years ago?
11 years, from a previous account? Just no. Drop whatever this is and move on, very quickly
Because there is no legal impediment to it. Can you find one?
We'll not hear anymore about it I imagine.
Now, let me see, was Fine Gael the subject of criticism on these boards because Maria Bailey brought a case? Well, yes is probably an understatement.
Yet, here we are now, and suddenly Sinn Fein cannot be criticised because Mary-Lou brought a case.
Orwell had a disdain for this type of doublethinking and double standards. It is the norm around here when it comes to Sinn Fein though.
How do you know ?
We still don't have all the details on the Leo incident, as it has yet to be decided whether a criminal act occurred and Leo has yet to be put on trial. So, opinions were given without all the details being available.
It should therefore be possible and reasonable for people to advance an opinion on the Mary-Lou case having seen all the details available at that time. If all those details give reasonable grounds for concluding that this is a SLAPPs case, then there is nothing wrong with saying that.
The logic of the position taken in the Leo thread demands that opinions can be offered about Mary-Lou, except that this is about Sinn Fein, and logic and principles go out of the window.
"The main function of the Oireachtas is to make laws for Ireland."
The last I checked, Sinn Fein had ended their boycott of the Free State Parliament (spit as you say it). That means that Mary-Lou, like every other Oireachtas member is responsible for making laws for Ireland. This is basic civics, I am surprised that I have to explain it on here.
SO we can take it you have no answer?
FG where not in involved in Bailey or Coffey's cases. The pressure came on FG only after the details came out about Bailey's case which forced her to drop it.
I don't think Coffey's case raised any questions for FG.
And why would it when they didn't take the case.
