And in doing so, are you, like me, in agreement with the EU, the NUJ, all of the media, Transparency International, the UN and other NGOs, that Ireland needs a change in the law to prevent potential SLAPPs from public figures like Mary-Lou and Denis O'Brien?
Or are you, like others on here, in support of a defamation law that allows for SLAPPs cases, because it is convenient for the party you support? Even if you look like a complete hypocrite because of your previous condemnation of Denis O'Brien for trying to silence the media?
The point of a successful SLAPPs action is that we can't do that. Hence QED.

The ban on commenting on a case applies when a case is before a jury, i.e. the trial is happening. Media can report the details of testimony but not comment on guilt or innocence. Those are the rules in Ireland.
Therefore, before a case goes to court, comment is possible on a social media site like this. Obviously, the alleged defamation cannot be repeated, that is the point of a SLAPPs case, but comment on the motives of the person taking the case is allowed.
