The fellow videoing should have stood behind the shooter for two reasons 1 ) he would have more protection and 2) We would know what brand of beer cans was he shooting at. ?
What a waste of tech? Or is it simply, 'hypersonic missiles- got'em' - surely they'd have better/more strategic targets to display them?
Was it a god cop bad cop routine when France and Germany were appeasing the Soviet Union while the Americans and Brits just focused on collapsing it, leaving the continentals looking very foolish indeed once the Soviets **** themselves and fell over?
I said it before, people will find ways to make excuses for France and Germany. Apparently after getting Russia completely wrong again for two decades they're now suddenly playing master level 3D chess rather than just looking for a way to wiggle Vlad off the hook he caught himself on.
I think an attempt to intimidate Ukraine is all. "See, we've got these indefensible missiles faster than everything else and can hit you anywhere, anytime." iMO RuSSia is grasping at straws trying to scare Ukraine.
Anybody notice Putins RIGHT arm has started to swing again . His left arm was holding a placard.
It's very easy for the US to adopt megaphone positions on things in Europe, as they are invariably unaffected. France, Germany and others deal in realpolitik. Some people dislike it as an approach and prefer the overt and covert regime changing the US still look to. As the quote goes it's your enemies you have to talk to and there is nothing to be gained by completely isolating him diplomatically. Whatever about questions over their attitude to him they are full square behind sanctions.
On balance over the last few days Ukraine have been making the most gains which is promising. These have been around Kharkiv.
I'd be still be nervous that Russia hasn't been routed from North of Kherson with more reinforcements/meat coming from Crimea. They still very much have their target on landlocking Ukraine.
Are they really fully behind Sanctions, especially Germany.
We have ex Ministers of Germany, past EU Presidents and an assortment of political leadership from Eastern Europe who would dispute that in the strongest terms.
The realpolitik was that Russian friendship was important for cheap resources, whether Ukraine is a democratic state or a Russian possession is secondary to that.
That's the realpolitik, certainly it appears individual prominent German leadership elements have been long compromised. They have certainly proved their loyalty and the result is that Germany is viewed as having no respect for life or Democracy East of its own border.
That's going to effect EU politics for 20 years. Eastern Europe is not going to trust Berlin or be lectured.
Berlin is pushing for Serbian EU involvement as it is very close politically to Russia. Scholz may well just have been told to push it, no explanation given.
It wants another friend to help provide cover over vetos sanction busting etc.
That is some serious destruction being inflicted by UAF
And this is happening on more routes ... Russia is never going to win this
..
They almost sounds like he regrets the loss of imperialism. Putin would be proud.
I mean Russia will still be there after the war ends; and it will still have a relatively large (but hopefully much diminished) nuclear equipped army. We all need to figure out how to deal with that fact; and it has been clear from the beginning that Macron is intent on keeping diplomatic channels open with Putin and Russia.
Sounds more like an apologist charter for allowing Russia to continue doing whats it's tyring to do to other countries.
Russia is now a rogue nation, with no diplomatic channels, at least none that make a blind bit of difference to a failed communist state being ruled by a defacto dictator who is looking increasingly mentally unstable.
Russia may very well go down the North Korea route. And as it does it faces complete and total isolation from most of the rest of the world. Whether its people are as subservient to Putin as the North Koreans are to Kim Jong time will tell. But unlike N. Korea Russia is a country with a very long tradition of revolution. Lets just hope the Russian people see sone sense before their great leader takes the nuclear option.
Grandmothers who are able to live in Londen because of Putins regime, agreeing with the kremlin, Im shocked 😆
It's no coincidence that the terms used to describe appeasing Russia are German: Realpolitik and Ostpolitik. France and Germany pulled the same stunt prior to World War 2 and after the Cold War and it backfired both times. It has never worked and thus here we are again
Neither France or Germany have been full square behind sanctions. Lets repeat again, people are excusing France and Germany for carry on they would be quick to condemn in other nations.
That said, Ireland, which is paying an astronomical cost in terms of accepting refugees (both Ukrainian and "Ukrainian" ) has provided a paltry amount in actual aid to Ukraine, another government using the crisis to further their own policies rather than actually protecting Europe.
It doesn't look like Putin at all in the photo in the guardian link
This was the satellite image from yesterday in the south.
Closer up of the terrain from Google maps.
Most recent drone footage uploaded on YouTube from a few hours ago.
Looks similar anyway. But there were fires yesterday on the Eastern side and those were in the similar terrain too as that yt footage. Tanks are hugging for cover anyway and those look like guided munitions.
To be fair we're nearly always only seeing Ukrainian footage and obviously they won't show their misses and losses. However the fact we're not seeing Russian wins to nearly the same extent does suggest they're not getting many as their rolling propaganda would be itching to show them. The same Russian propaganda that finds time to show Gay nazi black magic practitioners with copies of the Sims games... 😂
Yer military man on Sky News said Russian losses are about twice Ukr losses.
I know Wibbs, I think no one is denying Ukraine is also suffering significant losses, but the footage combined with intel provided from the UK/US the picture emerges that Russian forces are only advancing marginally, and the footage confirms this. I believe that Ukranian forces combined with western supplied tech and Intel will be able to drive Russia out of Ukraine all together
Are they trying to repair their yesterday damage?
What did they do yesterday?
You shoot and then get annihilated
This must be messing with a soldiers sense of relative safety.
When I was in the army there were no drones and you had a good sense of where the (assumed) danger would come from, we trained for various scenarios and we could dig in. But now there is no hiding, It will mess you up that every move you make is potentially noticed and you will be targeted.
putin is more in khabib's corner than mcgregor
The view is that at least one key European leader has to be somewhat "on side" with Putin, otherwise any negotiations would fall to other countries, e.g. Turkey/China. Putin has nuclear weapons, he can't be "cornered" like Hitler, there must be some leeway for potential future settlement, no matter how unpalatable. In terms of optics it will always look bad, but Macron has just been reelected, so I guess he can take the "hit". His talks with Putin before were also used to gauge Putin's mental health and views.
various departments, agriculture, defence etc get to cut anything they don't like out, it's a cosy cartel ,

Do you have an actual source for this claim?
Tbh RTE is more lot like a whole army of Fr Trendys trippin’ over themselves to sing ballads at half time in the Bingo in an ever increasing popularity contest dictated by the lowest possible common denominator.
Holy crap - I know he's preaching to his own support - but that's a hell of a stretch - he's not even living in the last century he's living 2 centuries back - but still wanting eu funding - .
And as shown by recent election results it works for him and his party ...
true but he has had a whole lot of plastic surgery and botox.... he looks very strange/evil
Have you missed the Chechen lads hitting the street signs and trees?
When was that with Hitler? They let him do what he wanted until they had no choice but to step in. And honestly, as much as people might scoff, the Brits could have easily let much of Europe fall, call it Realpolitik. :P But yeah, Hitler wasn't "cornered", he had a plan and the fools let him carry it out. Few things go another way after that, couple of different decisions made and the world would be a very, very different place.
