Fair play lads. Vouge and Spencer will have serious competition for baby related content.
We are talking about many many pieces of academic research over many years. Wheres the evidence every single one of these researchers was biased.
Thats perfectly ok as your opinion. As a fact its completely untrue.
When two men announce "we're pregnant", neither of them actually is. But that's homophobic, apparently.
As for the sister, she seems to be the only person unambiguously related to the child.
"Current Irish legislation does not cover the specific legal issues that arise in surrogacy. Instead, the legal status and rights of all people involved are covered by the laws dealing with non-surrogate births.
This means the surrogate mother, who gives birth to the child, is the child’s legal mother and guardian. This is the case even if she is not the biological mother of the child (where her egg is not used).
Also, if the surrogate mother is married or was married around the date of conception, then her husband is generally presumed, in Irish law, to be the father of the child (unless it is proven otherwise). This is set out in Section 46 of the Status of Children Act 1987. The husband will also, along with the surrogate mother, be the joint guardian of the child.
If the surrogate mother is not married, then she is the sole automatic guardian of the child."
Well at least they are not going to Ukraine or places like that where women's bodies are treated like baby making factories.
Poor baby though..having those two doses as parents. They'll be plaster all over insta from the get go.
Let's not try and apply facts to a thread about Brian Dowling and his husband saying that they are having a baby.
Oooh. I did not know that was the law.
You are sure the child that Brian Dowling's sister gives birth to would also think they are two doses?
I wouldn't know.
I don't particularly like Dowling but wouldn't use that as a reason to post crass remarks on a forum about him.
@Pussyhands goes a step further, and insults Ukranian women as well as Dowling in the same post. How he's still a member on this forum with his posting history is simply beyond me.
Weird you've chosen my post as the one to respond to considering there were other posts in this thread referring to rent-a-womb.
Irish women going to Ukraine to rent a woman's womb in Ukraine so they can have a baby is exploitation, plain and simple. No woman would go through 9 months of pregnancy in which there's a danger of health complications for a complete randomer, by choice.
Goldenmick you have misunderstood the comment. Pussyhands was not insulting Ukrainian women or the Ukrainian birth rate. They were referring to Irish and European couples using Ukrainian women as surrogates. It is common for Ukrainians to act as surrogates.
If Dowling and his husband are willing to parade themselves around in the media, they are deserving of crass remarks.
They could have chosen to do this privately, but surprisingly, and to the shock of everyone, "reality television" "star" Brian Dowling wanted to parade his husband and his sister in the media in a very unusual set-up.
He knows the game. I'm sure he will be crying about some sort of phobia because of people's distain for his obvious attention seeking. He will make his money and then him and his husband will be the face of a Lidl baby food campaign while his sister will compete on Ireland Has Dancing on Ice with the Stars.
But yeah. Get offended because someone is being a bit **** about a proven attention whore.
Birth rate aside, his comment that Ukrainian women's bodies are "treated like baby making factories" is still a deliberate slur. Surrogacy in Ukraine is no different to any other country. His comment on Dowling and his partner as being "two doses" is equally crass.
I think I'm more annoyed at the fact that whatever thread you visit there's a fair chance he's posted on there. And there's a 100% certainty that if he has posted on there then it's griping, causing trouble, slating people or being derogatory in some manner or form. He does it deliberately... check out some of his posts. He posts not to enter sensible discussion but to deliberately cause agitation.
I've absolutely no issue with same sex couple's adopting or indeed going the surrogacy route infact I welcome it.
But these two are narcissistic muppets and seem to think having a child is an accessory.
Brian expressed anger in an article in paper of celebrity record, the Indo , last week. I'm not aware the facts of this article are correct ,it seems he's suggesting they were turned down because they are Gay couple.
I do have to admit there's something very odd about Brians sister being the surrogate mother, it doesn't sit right with me.
I just think the two are complete idiots , behave like entitled spoiled children and to them it seems disturbingly like a game and an exercise in attention seeking, hence my initial comment , "God Help the poor Child". It comes across like this is almost a game with these two.
They made a brief (Thankfully) appearance on the LL valentines show recently it screamed cringe.
I know two same sex couple's, wonderful friends, one couple adopted another went the surrogacy route and amazing parents.
I say again, God Help the Poor child with these two parenting 🙄
@Pussyhands - Irish women going to Ukraine to rent a woman's womb in Ukraine so they can have a baby is exploitation, plain and simple.
This happens the world over, not just in Ukraine. And surrogacy is now commonplace so what's your problem?
I suppose it's just coincidence that you've chosen Ukraine to single out for this "exploitation", whilst on many other threads you've been accused of being anti-Ukraine in most everything you say.

Seriously?
You are annoyed that no matter what thread you visit, there is a poster who thinks differently and being what you consider mean and agitating?
On a discussion forum?
@[Deleted User] - You are annoyed that no matter what thread you visit, there is a poster who thinks differently and being what you consider mean and agitating?
I didn't say "a" poster. I said "him". There's a huge difference.
Love to debate it further with you, and the thread subject matter, but this is my last post as I'm moving on to other threads. Some of the company on here leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
sure.
Weird thread. They’ll make great dads. Congrats to them. There are scrotes banging out kids left right and centre every day of the week with no interest in them, only being another pawn to sponge off the state. I find it hard to find it within me to criticise these two who have clearly thought about this for years and considered every route and option. Fair play to his sister for doing this for them, a very selfless thing for her to do. I think they’ll make fantastic parents
It's not done the world over. It is illegal in a lot of places. It has been made illegal in Thailand and India, which were the go-to places. Ukraine then came onto the scene for it. It's a grimey business. There are advertisements everywhere in the poorest areas and the mother's get less than 50% of the fee paid.
BD seems to have gone down the trying to buy a baby route, likely in Ukraine but they rejected him and they don't have cash to buy an American Surrogate.
This stuff has been popping up very frequently with Irish media types over the last few years. Rosanna Davison, Georgia Salpa, the fella from Westlife. And they are all given fluff pieces with zero scrutiny.
It's like there is somebody in a high position of power that wants this stuff to become normalised and wants the media onside. And I have a sneaky suspicion of who. A person with a lot of influence, who cannot have his own kids......
Woke Shield is giving 3/1 odds they’ll decide to raise a ‘theyby’. No takers yet.
Yeah. Seen it all here before. The reality of life is the nuclear family isnt the reality anymore. The marriage equality referendum in 2015 saw all of these tired old chestnuts rolled out on this site. We discussed it at length back then. The issues were bought up back then too and actually helped win the referendum because people saw underneath it all that groups like "mothers and fathers matter" were insulting, judging and belittling lots of different families outside the nuclear family as inferior. Its quite a funny and amusing thread though really in what some people are saying.
Who ?
Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian
Yes
I forgot that they might have tried ukraine but as ukraine is quite homophobic they might not be allowed.
We'll be hearing about this baby for years. Child born, everyone happy. The mother does a fluff interview to say it was a great decision, despite it eating her up every day. Child will be "non-binary". Every few weeks we'll get media updates as they share their "parenthood journey".
It's going to be insufferable.
Never heard of either ,
Not sure why it's a big story , Only surprised no Ukrainian ladies were involved ,
From the article:
”The couple announced on Thursday that they’re expecting their first child later this year and revealed that their surrogate is currently in the second trimester.”
No use of the word “mother”. She’ll be referred to as “the surrogate” from now on, and you will remain silent.
So paying a Ukrainian women for 20 minutes to use her body for “a bit of fun” is morally wrong (of course it is), but paying for a Ukrainian woman’s body for months on end to buy a baby is ok? 🤔
His sister is having the baby is she not
