That is in development for the last 7+ years. It was supposed to be in full production since 2020 and gone into service in 2021. It's the Armata. While modern it's not as capable as the main US, German, British, French and South Korean main battle tank
Looks like it dependability is not great either. There was supposed to be three in the parade only two turned up. It seems they had no tractor to haul it with. If they were any use they would have used some in Ukraine.
The Russians must have been afraid to send them to Ukraine as the farmers there would have hauled them away for scrapping.

For a start he has a cheek claiming that Europe is helping Ukraine when he and Scholz have done as little as they can to help them, but note the language "Europe is now helping Ukraine" because that's obviously temporary.

Just read they had 3 armata tanks on display during todays parade ,the same number displayed over the last number of years.
I mean Russia will still be there after the war ends; and it will still have a relatively large (but hopefully much diminished) nuclear equipped army. We all need to figure out how to deal with that fact; and it has been clear from the beginning that Macron is intent on keeping diplomatic channels open with Putin and Russia.
I for one don't particularly like the thoughts of having a supercharged North Korea sitting all along Europe's eastern border without at least trying to find some way to avoid it; and if Macron wants to take on that role while still providing weapons and humanitarian aid to Ukraine then let him work away.

Yes. The final drive disconnect will disconnect the final drive from the drive sprocket. Normally done from the outside of the vehicle at the hub of the sprocket, when there is such a thing. Normally the brakes are between the steering/diff and the final drives

I don't know if you noticed but Russia is North Korea on steroids. The difference is that Germany and France both want to do business with our North Korea. Hardly surprising given their appeasement policies during the cold war. As stupid now as it was then. The idea that Macron is taking on the role of peacemaker is dubious, he has done as little to aid Ukraine while constantly making reassuring noises to Putin. If I was the Americans and Ukrainians I would be sharing as little as possible with Macron for of it making its way back to Putin

Some of it is good cop bad cop. It's one of the oldest tricks in the book. Germany is compromised. It'sore Merkel's than Scholz's fault.
At the end of all this there will be a need to negotiate a solution, Biden, Johnson etc will do the bad cop, Macron will do the good cop.

Is it not beyond the bounds of possibility that the Russians are not capable of building the following for ITS ANNUAL ARMS CAPABILITY INTERNATIONAL SHOW aka celebrating , annually the WW2 victory over Germany. Build , say, 5 big chassis with multiple big wheels. Fabricate Hugh big and very long cylinders for each and mount on the chassis. Canabalise a few bits and pieces, including cabs from defunct armaments and paint the lot green. So as these monsters pass by we all say WOW, what flower there, I wonder how many more have then - god help the poor UKranians !!!!!
