Thanks, yeah that is Rustic Boowa up near Horans. They do some lovely stuff alright but unfortunately their sandwiches are all vegan so not for me.
Just don't order the sweetmeat paté.
The one you drive into on Maine Street. The foot entrance/exit is literally seconds away from McGrath's door! Very handy
I Didn't even realise there was a Vets down that way
There is a new Chinese restaurant opening just opposite the Courthouse called 'China Town'.
Great to see so many positive developments happening in tralee at the moment;
Greenway opening in june
Work progressing well on island of geese
Stokers lodge & Old dunnes store sold
New coffee shop across from shaws opening soon
Work continuing on guesthouse/bar/restaurant beside sean ogs
New chinese restaurant across from court house (where 7th heaven was)
Old dairy company (ice cream shop) opening soon in town centre.
Probably missing a few also!!
There is a warning letter up from the council on the building where they put the shutter in on the corner of Castle st/Edward St. They obviously didn't apply for planning before they did the job!
I passed the Islabd of geese yesterday, they have a lot done. I didn't realise it was going to be so far along and looks like a sort of park at the moment.
I didn't realise there was another Ice cream parlor(?) opening in town. Yummy's have put an ice-cream section into their restaurant now with a separate entrance. Only open Thusrday - Sunday though.
The Glasshouse are also opening a burger/steak restaurant next to them. I think its opening this weekend. Looks to be called 'Boho Burger'.
There seems to be a couple of new pizza takeaways on Castle Street that I didn't notice before. One next to Four Seasons bar that does Asian food as well(Cam I think it was called?) and then another one opposite near the Daybreak shop. Was driving so couldn't catch the name properly.
This is as well as Pizza King and all the other takeaways on that strip. You'd wonder how they all do well 7 days a week. They all seem to change their name at least once a year too so I can't imagine they attract much customer loyalty like the long established takeaways around town.
Thats Eskimo Pizza and Lam's Asian. There's another place, Lighthouse pizza on Castle street too.
I came across this article on the Examiner today, about an American man wanted by the FBI who ended up as an asylum seeker in Atlas house, Tralee. His body was found in the Slieve Mish mountains not long after lockdown in 2020. I have no recollection of hearing about this?
The Lost American: Once wanted by the FBI, how did Thomas Stofiel end up in Tralee? (irishexaminer.com)
Fascinating! I listened to the pod cast, never recall hearing anything about it at the time either but I suppose the fact that he was identified immediately and no foul play meant there wasn't any appeals or media attention.
Where is, Ballymactbomas?
That would be out in Ballymac parish, near the John Cronin roundabout, but can't imagine where it would actually be held there?
Do you use this place often? They charge per bag of household waste. Is that right?
Looks like the Tralee Northern Relief Road will ramp up construction in the next few months. The local road between Forge Cross roundabout and the Ballyduff/Abbeydorney Road is to close next month for 5 months to allow a new bridge be built over the river as part of the Relief Road project.
Where will the new road go in relation to the existing rat run? Is there a map of the route available online?
It runs parallel to the existing road, just to the north of it.
Have only used it once to get rid of old lawnmower petrol and some electronics which was all free. Don’t know about household waste.
Hrm... why can't more be done?
Calls grow for garda crackdown on teenage gang that’s tormenting Tralee
https://www.independent.ie/regionals/kerryman/news/calls-grow-for-garda-crackdown-on-teenage-gang-thats-tormenting-tralee-41611159.html
Even if one of their victims died from a heart attack as a result of the stress of an encounter with the "urchins", the punishment would be minimal.
I wonder if in some towns the Garda stations are empty, and it's only the roads that are being policed by the Traffic Corps?
Just a reminder everyone Darkness into light is tonight at 0415 at the wetlands tralee. I don't see any adverts for a early breakfast or coffee from any business.
Anyone else know?
I have used there for electrical/metal/batteries/florescent tubes and all were free but I had paint as well but they said there was a charge for that as not hazardous waste and goes in with ordinary rubbish (water based) so I imagine they charge for ordinary household rubbish too.
Anyone else hear the rumours that the racecourse has been sold?
Yeah, I heard it was bought by the owners of the ring of Kerry hotel in Caherciveen.
So, the racing will stop? Or just be under new management?
I don't know what their plans are for it. There's only the odd point 2 point race there anyway.
