Exactly! Poor planning by them. Makes no sense to have works like this eating into the summer months.
Its longer than 10 weeks as they started it weeks ago! its a busy spot and reduced parking will put people off going there!
It's a ridiculous time to be resurfacing the carpark just coming into peak season and it will be going on until the end of July. There are 9 other off-peak months in the year that they could have done this.
They are a good 4 weeks at it already I'd say, it's not so much the length of time but the time of year, that's June/July peak holiday season, if it doesn't go to schedule could eat into August too. I know it's probably a supplies/labour and all that jazz reason for not starting until recently but it's just a pity to have it so blocked off this time of year.
It's 10 weeks. Not a long time really
I was just about to post the same thing! End of July seems a very long time! Why couldn't they have started it earlier to have it done when the summer season starts? Typical! Its going to be very difficult to park there while the works are being carried out. We went out there on a quiet'ish day recently and it was hard enough to get parked!
Well there's my answer, I miss being able to park and look out at the sea, have to endure it for another while, be all worth it we hope!

I think there was another business running the cafe up there for a while. Can't remember who it was, but Der Sullivans only took it over fairly recently. They are also opening a burger joint in Killarney.
I saw the tarmac being done up at Mounthawk side past few days, if we have to wait for them to get to car park in Fenit it'll be out of action for another while!
Thought that cafe was there a long time? Did see Der's looking for staff for it some time ago so thought they had taken it over some time ago.
I saw a Facebook Fenit page update saying tarmacadaming had started at the Tralee end of the greenway so hopefully we'll see it open soon.
In other news, Der Sullivans has opened a cafe in Liber House in Monavalley opposite FAS. Should do well in there with all the industries. I didn't realise how big the industrial estate was until I went up there for my vaccine!
What work is being done in the carpark at Fenit? Is it just resurfacing or to do with greenway or what, it seems to be painfully slow, looks the same now for weeks!
Speaking of the racecourse in Ballybeggan, I saw a sign today advertising point to point racing there at the end of May! So its obviously still being used for the odd race meeting for now!
I was chatting to the manager about it over the last few months.
They do more than just ice cream cones and are hopeful if will get the busines all year round. They also have a fridge jn the shop at Mount hawk and a bike in abbeyfeale.
Oh yes I heard there was an Ice cream shop opening. I think its the same as the one that's in Ballyseedy garden centre. The Old Dairy Company The Old Dairy Company | Facebook
Hope it goes well for them. I always feel these types of shops are very seasonal. Not sure how well they will do in the middle of winter? The one in Rock st always seems quiet. Plus Yummy cafe also opened an Ice-cream section a few weeks ago.
Heard that is an ice-cream shop starting near Lana.
T.
There looks to be another food outlet of some sort going into the old Shindig unit in Ashe St, near Lana. And something food related going into the old florists in boherbee.
There hasn't been racing there in years, even the point to point racing hasn't been on in a few years I don't think. The Kingdom county fair wasn't on there this year, the moved venues. The place must be in a bit of a mess now. The roof of one of the stands was damaged in a storm years ago and never repaired. Its sad to see it go. Could be that a hotel will be built there now! The grass area is used for cattle at the moment.
I don't know what their plans are for it. There's only the odd point 2 point race there anyway.
So, the racing will stop? Or just be under new management?
Yeah, I heard it was bought by the owners of the ring of Kerry hotel in Caherciveen.
Anyone else hear the rumours that the racecourse has been sold?
I have used there for electrical/metal/batteries/florescent tubes and all were free but I had paint as well but they said there was a charge for that as not hazardous waste and goes in with ordinary rubbish (water based) so I imagine they charge for ordinary household rubbish too.
Anyone else know?
Just a reminder everyone Darkness into light is tonight at 0415 at the wetlands tralee. I don't see any adverts for a early breakfast or coffee from any business.
Even if one of their victims died from a heart attack as a result of the stress of an encounter with the "urchins", the punishment would be minimal.
I wonder if in some towns the Garda stations are empty, and it's only the roads that are being policed by the Traffic Corps?
Hrm... why can't more be done?

Have only used it once to get rid of old lawnmower petrol and some electronics which was all free. Don’t know about household waste.
It runs parallel to the existing road, just to the north of it.
Where will the new road go in relation to the existing rat run? Is there a map of the route available online?
Looks like the Tralee Northern Relief Road will ramp up construction in the next few months. The local road between Forge Cross roundabout and the Ballyduff/Abbeydorney Road is to close next month for 5 months to allow a new bridge be built over the river as part of the Relief Road project.
