You forgot to mention the good old Russian regime technique used since the Tsars and mastered by the Bolsheviks - kidnapping people and transporting them to Siberia and russify them there (or let them rot/die).
Reported from the Russian occupied Kherson Oblast, so far only the tip of the iceberg but I'm convinced the world will find out the truth sooner or later. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 10s of thousands or even 100s of thousands at the worst.
If Putin hadn’t invaded in 2014 there would be no Azov for people to moan about. They are very diluted since 2014 as they were taken into the defence forces and expanded. The far right are also tiny in Ukraine. Azov is just used as a tool to moan about and an attempt to justify an unjustifiable position.
No way near the propaganda and state sponsored media that the soviet union/Russia and China have to brainwash its own people.
Its a reason why you get 15 years in prison in Russia for having an opinion about the war and its also a reason why Tianaman square massacre happened in China.
They all hate democracy and freedom of speech and have full control of the media.
Its bigger from what I've seen. Everyone is involved, and especially that dwindling band of survivors when I was there in the 90's. Everyone is proud of their ww2 history, as they should be. There will not be a town or village that will not have their parade. On that day, the old uniform will be taken out of storage and spruced up, all the medals polished, and whatever their day to day life is like, on the day they will come alive again. They will be someone, and relive their former glory. Yes, its a big day and celebration in Russia.
i was in at Petersburg when it was on a few years. Never seen patriotism like it, and that was when Russia was still relatively open and outward looking (c. 2014).
thousands of people, all decked out with relatives medals and uniforms, and children all holding photos on sticks above their heads of relatives who died in WW2 and other wars
like no other national day I have ever seen
@MeepMeep2021 have you only come in here to rant and rave about the AZOZ battalions defending Ukraine or do you have an actual point.
Seems your not exactly here to discuss the Russian invasion of Ukraine
https://informnapalm.org/en/russian-neo-nazis-in-the-ranks-of-wagner-pmc/
Wagner group:
Terrorists. Rashist Terrorists. If rashism wasn't a word before the invasion. It certainly came now.
Militaries changed over the years. But the kremlin army remained in 1945.
Not quite Raoul, they have plenty of words to describe gobshite's or wanker's...( in that sense, I'm assured by people who were learning Russian that it's capacity for derogatory words and comments can only be marveled at...in one instance, a lady colleague who was living with a Russian family of Mother and Daughter, to learn the language, told me that when she finally got the hang of what they were saying, she never blushed as much in her Life )..Its a deliberate attempt to link Ukrainians ( or any dissenters, traitors etc. ) with WW2 and the Nazi's. Its one thing that has been taught in schools etc. and the whole Country is littered with huge concrete monuments commemorating the great War, and Victory over the Nazi's. Any town or village worth its salt will have a WW2 tank, artillery piece, or even an aircraft placed on a stand in a prominent place, with a large plaque attached showing details of that areas contribution to the war.
Staggering losses. These are the "bare minimum" as they are only those with visual evidence (photo/video)
Ah sure as long as they're Russian that's grand. No need to invade Russia, bomb the country to smithereens or shoot civilians...
Though they are doing serious damage to the day with their current exploits and linking May 9th to their savagery in Ukraine. Whenever anyone hears the word 'Russia' now, they think of aggressive Russian militarism / imperialism, war criminals, toxic and arrogant right wing nationalism.....definitely not the country that helped liberate Europe from fascism.
..
And the sad reality is this is not even close to the depravity that Russians are inflicting on Ukrainians
Yes, externally that is what is happening, but for the domestic audience, Putin is playing them like a conductor with his orchestra. You will find few more emotive subject to discuss with a Russian, even before Ukraine. I guess when you lose 27 million people, its bound to leave scars on a people, so of course its highly emotive, and Putin knows his audience very well, after all he's been educating them since he came to power.
Way more dignified than that other display we saw today from the pro-Russian guys in the midlands.
Stating facts is not ranting and raving. They are just facts. Only certain types will feel threeatened by such facts.
Azov are very much part of the post-invasion conflict. Or hadn't you noticed? You reference the Azov a lot. Probably more than I have, in number of posts. I presume you are exempt from practicing your own brand of logic on yourself? Also a lot of the posts on here don't need to be repeated -- yes the invasion is awful, yes the Russians are brutal, yes some of their propaganda is just off the wall. That's all a given. A depressing given. Reiterating here will achieve precisely nothing where it matters.
However, I do have a point, you'll be glad to know. Some posters on this thread are singling out the far right extremists of AZOZ/AZOV for special praise. AZOV/AZOZ are borderline terrorists, far right extremists, and racists. Let's not forget the long list of homophobic attacks either. Let's not pretend they are something they are not. Of ALL the people fighting the good self defense fight for Ukraine why single those people out? It says something about the poster, IMO.. and their sympathies. I don't like extremists or bigots whether originate on the right or the left.
And if the world has reached a stage where we're here in 2022, basically saying "our neo-Nazis are the most virtuous, most majestic, most admirable all round good guy neo-Nazis while their neo-Nazis are filthy barstewards" then frankly I want to register a complaint about the state of ethics and reason on this planet.. even if only in the form of a few pissed off messages sent out into the vacuum of the Internet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There's bigger gay pride events around the world - hope someone in the big news outlets makes a point of that
Ukrainians should watch the parade and pick out equipment they like so the tractors can steal it next week.
Oh you made me giggle
Azov can be anything they like but if they are killing invading Russians then they are doing the world a justice
Is there any real kind of point you are trying to make since you seem fixated on them
That gear won't be going to war. It's their parade weapons like the T14.
Going on Putin time, this means 3 months.
Russia can 'destroy NATO nations in half an hour', claims Putin crony https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10794433/Russia-destroy-NATO-countries-half-hour-claims-close-Putin-crony-charge-rockets.html?ito=native_share_article-masthead
Made out of polystyrene too?
They are Ukrainians defending Ukraine from a foreign invader .
Just like they did 8 years ago when Russian forces repeatedly tried to take Mariupol repeatedly and yet they are still there .
Just like the UN report of supposed warcrimes committed by members of the AZOZ battalions , over 100 pages and AZOZ got less than 6 mentions , while most of the warcrimes committed came from the Russians in the Donbas region,
And your right they are part of the story of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia ,
Fighting like lions in a city all but destroyed ,out manned , out gunned ,no armour ,no vehicles , surrounded ,
Facing certain death .but yet they still stand and face the Russians .
And yet random posters on boards moan about them ,
OK, that's enough about the history of the Azov battalion. That really is irrelevant to what's going on right now. We don't need any lectures on how some of them may have been perceived 8 years ago
The big question should be what will the 2023 parade be like.....🤔
Thank you. The entire thread today has been mind melt
I predict rather a bad outcome for Spew Tin tomorrow.
The creative, inventive, resourceful, intelligent Ukrainians will, no doubt, have something planned, while entities in Russia will, no doubt, react appropriately to whatever nonsense he comes out with.
Details of even more atrocities committed by the Russians in Ukraine
And they dare call Ukrainians "nazis"
