It looks like they've charged her health insurance as opposed to actually charging the her personally.
Supposedly an awful lot of the reason that health insurance is so expensive in the USA is that once they see someone has cover they have a ton of extra charges like this that they add onto the bills.
They charge an absolute fortune for anything and everything anyway - but when they see that insurance is covering it then dozens of extra nonsense charges like this appear too
Meh, been waiting over a year for a private referral, know someone who took 6 weeks to find a doctor to accept 60 quid to give a referral, year later still nothing, moved abroad, went to doctor, straight to consultant for all the tests that day and cost about 30 quid. And that's without having even established residency in the new country. 🤣We're barely in a position to throw stones. And it's only going to get worse cost-wise as the public system continues to get run down, "ah sure the insurance covers most of it" etc. If you can actually see someone.
You could look to get the work done in the US... if you can remortgage.
I didn't realise there was any procedure in Ireland waiting a year for private work. I used to work in the private hospital area. Surprised, I'm assuming it's not a common procedure or things have got significantly worse in the last few years. Hope you get seen soon.
