Yes it will show after 7, no subscription required.
BBC 3 - is it really needed? Would be great to see BBC 1 +1, BBC 2 +1 and BBC 4 +1
Is GB News and Talk TV eventually gonna merge? fishing in the same pond!
BBC 3 is needed. Plus 1 channels are a waste of space, everyone has recorders now.
GB news and talk TV won't merge, but I could see one failing. Suspect if either were to fail, it'd be gb news... Murdoch has too much money to allow talk tv fail.
I don't think BBC are blocked by the regulator from broadcasting BBC1/BBC2+1. Something about it would take too much market share from competitors. It would certainly be more popular than the likes of ITV, Channel 5 etc.
You have to remember that BBC1 and 2 have many regional variations. To do a proper +1 service would add a lot more channels and transmission costs.
BBC3 HD is FTA after 19:00 on 10847 V 23000 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK
It shares the channel with CBBC. If you try to watch CBBC after 19:00 you will see and hear BBC3 but may get an error message. You should scan and add BBC 3 after 19:00 so that you have a separate entry for CBBC and BBC3
Sometimes the regional channels show things at different times. BBC NI is often a +30 minute channel. SKY, Fresat, Enigma2 boxes all allow you to easily search for other instances of a program so you can juggle schedules. But late night programs might be subtitled.
BBC3 HD shares the same transponder as BBC2 Wales HD, BBC Two HD, BBC One HD , BBC One NI HD (and timeshares with CBBC HD) so a decent box should be able to record them on one tuner and still and leave the second tuner free to watch/record something else.
As others have pointed out UK viewers will have access to catchup from the internet via Freesat / Freeview equipment or websites or apps all of which are geoblocked because of funding from TV license fees.
good god no, those + channels are a waste of bandwidth
ITV has regional variations STV, UTV, ITV Wales, Granada etc. and all have a +1 service. I get it not all would need to have it. BBC3/4 don't have regional so easier for them, and BBC 2 less regional variations. Maybe a single BBC1 +1 service could just be n/a (or BBC News for that 30mins etc.) when it would be re-broadcasting a regional variation?
anyways just a thought
ITV etc. channels have commercial income so +1 channels can be profitable.
BBC has a huge investment in the iPlayer which performs this function (and much more) for UK residents. If I could pay to get a full iPlayer subscription, I probably would.
This is from the Satellite UK forum 10 May, if it hasn't been noted here before.
BBC Two Northern Ireland HD
Astra 2E UK Beam
12226 H 27500 S2 8PSK 2/3 FTA

No sound at the moment. Interesting that it's on a Sky transponder.
BBC Three HD and BBC Three launch on Sky (169 and 845) in Ireland tomorrow ( 17th May).
This is working with sound now, e channel I'd is still wrong but I watched the Ulster championship in HD yesterday which was nice
BBC Three now on Sky in Ireland on 169 SD and 845 HD.
It's the other way around on my my box, 169 is HD and 845 is SD ?
That’s how it should be following Sky’s own rules, HD swap should be implemented unless there are differences between HD and SD versions?
Makes sense that the HD version should be higher up the epg.
It annoys me that this isn’t the case for some channels
I believe that it needs to be like-for-like for Sky to swap the channels. So if a HD channel is UK ads only and SD channel has Irish channels, they wouldn't be swapped. That shouldn't affect BBC though...
It affects BBC Two, but that’s down to the SD/HD versions not being the same again - BBC Two NI is only in SD (for the moment anyway).
Do you have a HD subscription?
I do.
For those channels, the broadcaster was allowed to choose whether to swap. Sky chose to swap, while the other companies did not.
Sky Comedy is the exception - it used to be Universal and remained unswapped when it changed.
220520: FreeSports on Astra 2E: 11426 V is now encrypted
It is gone now for me too.
I suppose that they are changing their Business model.
Not very free, is it?
A name change to follow shortly i assume.
No great loss, although the bike show was worth a watch
Given that I only have free to air, I'll miss watching the odd random Portuguese or Spanish soccer game. Not much else though.
Still there for me, watching Rangers v Hearts.
