No it matters what we and NATO think Russia is.YOU completely missing the point

We allready know what Russia is,and no furher explanation is needed, thank you

Your line of reasoning involves treating Russia like a child with a learning impairment, and by extension trying to get us all to swallow the line coming out of the Kremlin.

I'll let you in on a little secret, even the Kremlin doesn't believe that NATO is a threat to Russian sovereignty and security. That line is for the naiive and the dopey. Designed for babushkas on the metro to get their blood up against America to justify the war, and for the poor lost souls in the West who act as edgelords on Putin's behalf.

They are using a time machine to bring Russian forces from the 1970s?

I think they appreciate that NATO is a defence organisation, and therein lies the problem.

NATO has the potential to defend member states from being brutally subjugated by Russia and THAT is what Russia can't abide.

It's actually deeper than that, any ideology that sanctifies individual human existence is a huge threat to Soviet thinking. And it IS Soviet thinking, they never evolved any further.

What a wonderful idea , though if Russia takes over Ukraine ,then NATO is now bordering Russia again - so maybe just depopulate Ukraine ?

A series of nice clean nuclear bombs maybe ?

And now for those troublesome swedes and Finn's - better take out moldova too ? And the 3 Baltic states - Poland - Slovakia ,

Shure it'd be just like old times - ..

By the way Ukraine was neutral BEFORE Russia invaded in 2014 ... I don't think the Russians cared much ..

    Slava ukraini 🇺🇦

"The Security Service of Ukraine announced that it had liquidated a hostile subversive and reconnaissance group that operated in Ukraine. It was preparing for a terrorist attack - shooting down a passenger plane over Russia or Belarus and blaming the Ukrainian army for it. They wanted to do this with the American Stinger MANPADS. The agents, pretending to be volunteers, tried to establish contacts with representatives of the Armed Forces. To gain credibility, they were to provide the Ukrainian army with reliable information about the positions and movements of the Kadyrovs. After gaining the trust, they planned to illegally acquire the Stingers and take them to Russia."

In this article the Guardian talk about what Lenin would advise the West to do.

    Lenin!

FFS, would an article about what Hitler would recommend be tolerated, course not.

Yet a man who had 250k people murdered in the Ukraine by his secret police in just 30 months is someone to be listened to.

A man who unleashed the most murderous social order in European history and is only beaten as the most murderous in the world by Communist China, who followed his vision.

A man that Russian forces are putting statues up of, in occupied Ukraine.

The West never cleared out the Communist/ Radical left fox in the henhouse from its society.

Beliefs founded in mass murder and genocide and driven on by mass murder.

What in the name of God is that post supposed to be about?

The USA and other Nato members didn't encroach on anything in February. What alliances sovereign nations chose to join is of their own volition, not the whim of their corrupt neighbours. The only encroachment was done by Russia.

As for the statement that Russia has been more of a peacemaker than invader historically? How did it get so large then? That many completely different indigenous tribes, clans, Kingdoms etc didn't just decide one day that they suddenly wanted to join an empire in a peaceful vote!

It ll be great when technology reaches the point where nukes can be stopped and NATO can just go in a stomp the likes of putin into the ground. The only crutch they have is the nuke outside of that the russians would be rinised completely and this war would have been over weeks ago or never started in the first place.

Historically the belief of historians and military strategy heads was that there was no natural barrier between western and Central Europe and Russia. No sea, river, mountain range etc so it was comparatively easy for armies to March into Moscow.

That's fine but going forward then drones in future conflicts nd who operate them will technically have different rules of engagement then in regards to civilians and injured combatants.

I wonder how many of them will be active service personnel, and how many will just be non-military / reservists there to pad out the numbers. I get the impression that they’ve used up pretty much their entire army in Ukraine, leaving few to spare for a “Victory” parade.

OMG... "Had the USA and/or other NATO members agreed to just stop encroaching on the Russian Federation in February, they would not have been a war." means: "Had the USA and/or other NATO members agreed in February to just stop encroaching on the Russian Federation , they would not have been a war." OK?

As to "encroachment done by Russia". That's just childish. Russians - Gobatchow - were promised the NATO wouldn't expand and Putin has been warning NATO to stop for over 20 years.

I completely agree with to your second paragraph: the methods the Russians used to expand their influence 1000 years ago were less sophisticated than the methods NATO/CIA used to flip Ukraine and turn brother on brother. The only thing is: I never claimed otherwise. There my wording is unambiguous. That's your reading skills. Just re-read and think a bit before posting!

I don’t see where you get the incompetents notion from.

Beijing don’t need buffer zones in Siberia cause Russia don’t have any realistic hope of stopping a hard invasion in the Far East if that what China wanted.

Come off it. Complete festering nonsense. There are already nuke warheads in storage in Europe and there even more on US nuclear submarines. And this whole distance thing is farcically irrelevant because ICBMs have globe spanning range, so whether the missiles that erases your country take 2 minutes to arrive or 20 means nothing.

    @dybbuk

Gorbachev ( would help if you spelled it right) was promised f*ckall. You're peddling a myth.

The 'no NATO east of the Elbe' was to do with USSR troop withdrawal from the former DDR after the wall fell. Gorbachev didn't want the optics of NATO troops immediately supplanting Soviet ones upon withdrawal.

    Zero history insight, maximum propaganda.

You're going to get utterly scorched on this thread. Smarter useful idiots than you have got stuck into this thread and all have come away licking their wounds. There's nothing for you here but getting embarrassed.

It's not safe for the west to have countries like Russia, NK and China bordering it, is the correct perspective.

Key words there “Russian Nationalists” Nationalists by there nature are hard line in some way, generally right wing, and don’t like foreigners, Eg Irish nationalists, English nationalists, German/French/American nationalists 🤷‍♂️

And if that bigger country is a threat to their security, the smaller country absolutely has a right to align itself with others for mutual security if it decides to do so.

Why would a Belgian air force Airbus just fly into moscow... ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,770 ✭✭✭firemansam4

Honestly I think the only tech capable of doing this would be some sort of lazer technology capable of taking out rockets soon after they are launched and it would require a vast network of them deployed as satelites across the globe, something like starlink satelites maybe? But thats an entirely different topic.

But I agree for the sake of humanity something needs to be developed so that the world can not be held to ransom by rogue states or crazed dictators.

you said incompetence over the centuries I assumed your where going right back to Catherine the great but obviously not.

The Nazis we’re heavily mechanised and professionalised compared to the Red army of the early war and they essentially just drove across the eastern plains like I said cause there’s not natural barrier.

Britain has confirmed that it will send another batch of weapons to Ukraine. As reported by The War Zone, this time the deliveries will include Brimstone missiles.
