But it's the whole Modus Operandi of the Conservative Right - They have a very weird and damaged view of Sex in general and so they assume that everybody is as messed up as they are and imagine that a child hearing about 2 Dads or 2 Mums will be as repulsed as they are at the thought.
It is also firmly and fundamentally linked to their deeply held belief that being Gay is a "Lifestyle choice" and that exposure to the knowledge of the existence of Gay people might cause someone to "turn"

Religion is something people choose to believe. Being LGBT isn’t a choice people make, it’s something inherent to them as people. This is a completely false equivalence, no one is asking to teach kids the gay karma sutra, they just want to acknowledge LGBT people exist

Being gay or transgender (or straight for that matter) is a fact of life.
Religion is harmful, made-up, superstitious mumbo jumbo that has caused violence and death on a global scale.
I would personally teach toddlers about gay people before religion. So should anyone with half a brain. And you know why? Because there's nothing wrong with it. All that shame, fear and hate that people feel towards the LGBTQ community is only themselves. That particular monster only lives in their own heads.
