I had an old guy talking to me in the shop the evening who thought Russia will at some stage disintegrate into some kind of civil unrest disorder. Not quite a civil war but something similar. Putin is making far too many enemies in Russia to ride all this out. The army could get tired of his orders. The media in Russia can't fight a war for him on his own doorstep.

Most neutrals would say that a neutral country that was attacked by an aggressive and criminal regime neighbour has every right to strike targets inside the territory of that neighbour (let's not forget that Russia ended up invading Germany in 1945 in direct response to having been invaded itself by them). And as far as I know, supplying weapons and intel to a country you regard as friendly is perfectly legal in international law.

The first time I heard about Russian gas going to Europe I knew instinctively it would be a bad idea. That was a long time ago. But these gas deals are made by business people rather than politicians.
Since the late fifties Germany has been building economic links with Russia, started buying a lot of gas in the 70's. Kept flowing the entire Cold war. On Feb 24th this year, Putin has effectively undone all of that. Although some Germans are still having difficulty accepting reality.
I doubt it. I think they would just hope Moldova would satisfy the horde.
Idiots who like to talk up history as a worthy teacher of lessons need to explain how appeasing Putin's going, as a proof of the concept.
