I don't know if Moldova really care enough about Transnistria to do anything about it; and also pretty sure they don't want Russian missiles landing on Moldovan infrastructure and citizens.
The question is whether Ukraine might see some value in engaging Russian forces in Transnistria; but presumably the EU/NATO would have some strong opinions on expanding the war to any other territories.
Russia needs to take Odessa first to reach Moldova, there are only a few thousand russian troops there.
However i read that Russia was trying to recruit soldiers from Moldova with a paycheck,so hard to say
Thats another question, yes,i believe Russia have been trying to recruit soldiers from Moldova,so guess money talks
they will need to push by land all the way from Kherson, the sinking of the Moscow missile carrier makes an amphibious landing difficult for them now I read
Goodbye General Le Pen https://twitter.com/VladislavMoham/status/1518337148147146752?s=20&t=5CmOSHIX9QgRGECmo11JOw
Would the risk from Transnistria not be more to Ukraine than Moldova at this stage? Although are the forces assembled there big enough really to cause Ukraine much hassle on that side. Apart from tying up numbers.
Looking at the way people were handed guns and chucked onto the frontline from Donbas I suppose if they elevate the crisis level there that will give them the justification for mass conscriptions. But again the only play I can see from the Russians here is to throw some meat into the grinder on a new front for Ukraine to try and assist their own push on Mykolaiv and Odessa.
It's a funny lesson in the psychology of self preservation... where people denounce the war, criticise Putin, but stop short of going all in because of the WW3 threat...
There will be a fork at some point in the whole situation where either:
a) Putin gets some sort of land grab that can justify his version of losses, claims victory and has some sort of parade
b) Gets frustrated, can't justify losses, gets more paranoid and escalates
Ukraine are putting up a decent fight to stalemate this situation, which is possibly the long term middle scenario, which is not good for anyone in the world...
Then you have the moral question.... do you taper back support to let a) happen, or do you increase support at the risk of b) happening...
The visibility of this moldovan threat has been evident for a while. Even from the first day of the invasion, this has been on everyone's minds as the next step.
If this occurs, I can see the likes of Poland viewing it as a serious threat which cannot be ignored.
It will be near impossible since Ukraine have recived harpoon anti ship missiles as well, and probably have a few more neptune missiles in reserve.
Only way to reach Moldova is to create a landbridge and then they need too reach Odessa first.
Stepping stone to Serbia, influence in the Balkans...
Take note, if he goes for all of Moldova, it would be a similar take down as if he were to attack Ireland (possibly harder given it's land locked with enemy airspace all around it)
True, they do need a landbridge to get there, they most certainly dont have enough manpower there to take on whole of Moldova at the moment.
Seen that yesterday, its getting laughable at the moment,i bet my niese at 7 could have been more creative for a false arrest than the FSB boys.
Hopefully true but we'll see if Tuesday's news is still true on Wednesday.
In any case, Scholz und SPD in general have been criticized from all sides the last week in Germany and face demands from everyone to stop flip flopping and finally show where they stand, maybe this is the result of that
The "signature" in the book is even more hilarious.
There's a new recently dismissed FSB goon on latrine duty in some Siberian gulag for the foreseeable.
It just shows how out of touch with reality these goons are.
Could NATO, in the guise of "Romania", just go into Transnistria to "protect ethnic Romanian speakers" and basically say "Your move dickhead" to Vlad. Call his bluff.
They could, and probably should. But won't.
We'll see - a fair few false dawns as regards German arms industry. Maybe they have eventually figured out who is likely to prevail in all of this and shifted their position in the boat.
I never understood why a nazi would wear a big red t shirt with a swastika on it, Surely you would just blend in like a normal person no?
From my brief visit there a few years ago, there aren’t any ethnic Romanian speakers. Most are ethnic Russians that lived in Moldova after the USSR broke up, and many moved there from Russia after the war.
Seen that earlier , and putting 3 Sims computer games instead of sim cards...jaysus wept.
They were just following orders. They were likely told to add an "Unreadable signature", so they did add exactly that. They were asked to put 3 sims, they went to the shop and bought 3 Sims game disks.
I think these goons will be promoted for following orders promptly and exactly ;)
I said it 2 months ago, Moldova should have joined in a union of some kind with Romania, do it in a way that makes them part of NATO straight away.
Nato is a defensive pact. However Romania could give them weapons
Russia will be paying for the rebuilding of ukraine when they finally end the war. So everything they are destroying now they will have to pay for eventually.
One way is to use the seized Russian central bank assets to pay for it.
Another way is to place a levy on Russian energy exports the same way Iraq was levied for 30 years after 1990 for the Kuwait invasion.
Putin the idiot should have cut his losses and run when he failed to topple kiev
If Putin wants to protect Russians in foreign countries then foreign countries should deport all Russians back to Moscow. I know people will say it's against their human rights but they'll still be alive which is more than what can be said for the children, women and men of the Ukraine.
No Russians to protect in foreign countries then no more bullshxxt reasons for invading other then being a complete bastxxd.
For an ex Soviet Union nation, that is poor, even with a low population of 4 million people. I read somewhere they sold their Mig-29 fighter jets to the Americans as they couldn't afford to maintain them?
That's true America bought 30 mig 29s to access and use as aggressor aircraft in air combat training
Yeah I second that. I just think if numbers Russia claim areare been involved and if aircraft done same, Russia would release videos of targets been hit and destroyed.
