Ryan mentioned draft for what was said in the Dail but not for when he spoke to the media.
Who do people keep voting chancers in? Chancers will never change. It's like someone who keeps buying second hand cars of Arthur Daley.
The self interested with no regard for broader society. As shown by how every problem is the publics fault or a shinner conspiracy. No accountability.
Are you saying that democracy is wrong?
It`s just more makey-up nonsense from Ryan. He attempted to ban turf and it bit him in the ass. He is now talking about legislating for communities of less than 500 where people can supply turf to their neighbours. He is absolutely clueless. It`s nothing other than an attempt at face saving while wasting Oireachtas and legislation time doing it with unenforceable legislation.
Was this a solo run from Ryan and he is now row back after the backlash?
A bit OTT there.
He's speaking on his dislike of the choices some people make.
He was under the impression it was happening, then he was publicly told it was being paused. Then he said it wasn't and was going ahead, now he claims it was only a draft.
He lost what credibility he had, which wasn't much.
The Green Party must be only delighted with him.
When did I say that? I just questioned why people keep voting in chancers. It's like Turkeys voting for Christmas.
I can understand someone voting for them once, but to keep doing it is nuts.
It was always a proposal. Even the likes on here shared and discussed clearly marked it as a proposal and it would be discussed.
Not sure why people are so confused. Proposals happen all the time, that's the job of the government. This one has been delayed, which I agree with but will be implemented in time. The sooner the better
Now is the time for people to move to alternatives, the question is will they? I very much doubt it
If it was a proposal how come nobody knew it was?
Because Ryan never said it was a draft. This has only come out over the last few days. Surely he could have corrected the mistake a week or so ago and put a stop to the confusion. Even his partners in government didn't know it was draft.
Ryan only corrected the mistake after the big backlash.
I think we have made great progress to be honest. I am confident about the future. The civil war politics BS is finally over. It was a sham and most people fell for it. FFG have shown that they are 2 sides of the same power swap coin. They will never have the same monopoly again and ideally they will merge or one party will become utterly irrelevant. SF have emerged as the largest opposition party but I think the Social Democrats offer some super TDs and candidates and will go from strength to strength. I also have faith in our young people and I would like to see new political parties emerge that will improve our rotten political system even further. Lord knows FF and FG have dumped some major problems on our young population (housing, national debt, renting, health system, cronyism etc etc) so I would expect some political agitation from them soon enough.
I agree 100% and the civil war politics will finally be gone when FFG are not in government after the next election. It will be interesting seeing FFG asking questions as the opposition whilst knowing full well if they were in government they would have handled things far worse.
The government proposes legislation to the Dail. It is discussed, debated, amended and approved by the Dail. So how could it be anything but a proposal?
It really is off-topic though in my belief. Daly and Wallace have their own thread, so do the Healy-Raes, even Michael Lowry and Ming have theirs, so discussion of the people voting in chancers probably belongs over there, or in a separate thread.
Usually the government know what they want to do before it is talked about in the Dail
It is still only a proposal.
Even his clean up and attempted salvage is in chaos and tatters. Small wonder that his ratings are at an all time low.
Not this one seemingly 😁
I can't honestly believe Ryan's utter incompetence being defended, how many days did it take him to come up with "The Word Draft" was missing. Not withstanding this sillyness, the actual "proposal" was the issue and rightly slapped down.
I feel terrible shame but.......
Little beats the warm glow of a Turf fire 😊
Don't tell Eamon...
I corrected you on this previously.
I quoted Ryan himself.
That often used Phrase has truely been turned on its head with this Government,
"You couldn't make it up"
They literally do and almost on a daily basis.
Because Ryan made to sound like it was actually happening this September.
We are to believe Ryan decided policy before discussing it with coalition partners. Who is he, Leo Varadkar?
Well anyone who read the article would have been been aware as it said "proposal" a number of times in it, not just one article all of them said it.
I pointed it out at the time on this thread.
So if you didn't know then you didn't read any of the multiple articles on the topic
If it was Leo, it would have been leaked by now as FG have history for that.
Well according to Ryan it was not a proposal and was actually happening. He also said this after Leo said it was being paused.
We keep being told that the SDs will go from strength to strength and yet they never do. I'll never vote for a party which hates rural Ireland.
I am not sure whether to believe Ryan and his army of advisors are that incompetent that none of them noticed the word 'draft' was missing when Ryan answered the PQ in the Dail or they were kite flying to gauge the reaction? Also why has it taken the guts of 2 weeks for Ryan to clear this mess up?
Less than 500. Gweedore has 4,000 and relies on turf as a cheap source of fuel.
