Seemingly Leo's team were aware file sent to DPP for a number of days. No recommendations made to DPP by Garda HQ, extraordinary its taken almost 3 years, the file must be enormous.
I posted earlier about chatter around the Garda Commissioner sitting snuggly beside Leo at an event on April Fools day, there was suggestions it was perhaps a good omen for Leo re the investigation .
Also very curious Dr. MaitiΓΊ Γ Tuathail has come out of hiding and it's just been annouced "Yesterday" he's Co hosting a show on T na G π€
Thats my point. So no need to do anything.
So nobody is watching we should do nothing?
then why is the government doing something?
No idea what point you are trying to make
Seems you don't.

Would have thought you with an interest in politics would know that.
Not interested in discussing the case as there is a thread for that. I'm wondering what people think this means for the government if it transpires.
You'd have to wonder whether the ministers are just doing this for optics after the recent meeting audio was released.
McGrath questioned Donnelly over HSE governance after health tapes revelations | Business Post
Michael McGrath questioned Stephen Donnelly on the Department of Healthβs management of the HSE in the wake of the Business Postβs revelations about financial dysfunction at the heart of the health system.
The Minister of Public Expenditure wrote a letter seeking clarity from the Minister for Health the week after a report on the details of a meeting of officials in the department, discussing serious concerns about financial management.
Nurses and patients to blame for this too?
So who exactly are these βhigh earnersβ theyβre putting the feelers out to milk fit even more?

It's potentially a tricky situation, if the DPP takes their time reaching a conclusion (She can't be seen to rush), at a guess Another FG TD will have to be nominated and that's were the fun starts. I can't see Leo resigning easily albeit his hand may be tied in that regard, he's certainly not going to be Leader of FG if another FG gets the top job, I presume if there's a hint that the matter won't be resolved in time, will see him head off to a plum job on the world or EU stage or perhaps another Makey Uppy Job π€
What MM will do if there is an issue remains a mystery, I presume the Rotating, Back flipping, U Turning, Lesson learning Taoiseach Role is in the program for government so I guess he won't renege on that agreement, it's who in FG will be Taoiseach is the real question if "The Matter" is not resolved, albeit, I suspect it will and well before the deadline date.
Eitherway, MM must be like a Cheshire Cat who just finished a bowl of cream, so to speak, at the moment π
There will be unavoidable tensions within FG as the date approaches no doubt. Pressure will rightly mount on all members of the government to say what they intend doing if it isn't resolved as well.
There is always the Zappone job for him. Remember FG and their supporters telling how important that job was.
I think this whole leaking has damaged everyone in FFG. Varadkar is damaged no matter the outcome, supporters will say he did nothing wrong but most people will just see it as him being let off. As for the others by voting confidence in Varadkar and not asking him to step aside while under criminal investigation just shows the corruption and cronyism in those parties and that no matter what someone does they will overlook it to keep snouts in the trough and screw everyone else.
While the scandal was FF and the Greens shrugging the leak off so their government would survive, it really helped to take Watt's 2m a year out of the headlines.
I think the key problem is the lack of accountability. 'Lessons learned' isn't working, is it? And whats happening that we don't get wind of?
FG shut down the investigation into Noonan with a 'inappropriate behaviour'. Fitzgerald misleading the Dail, Varadkar claims she was vindicated. I could go on
We need accountability.
I'm beginning to think FG in particular know the game is up, MM just toddling along, Eamonn Ryan occasionally announcing policies FFG just grin at and ignore. I actually believe there are serious Tensions within FG, matched only by ambitions of perhaps 4 FG Ministers. All of them waiting in the long grass eager to move but knowing full well there's a S***Show coming down the track. Privately they are hoping Leo will fall or just Head off to a plum job. One of the gang of 4 takes over and take the time in opposition to recoup FG fortune's.
I'd actually be surprised to see this government last beyond this year, they've created a mess and essentially maybe 10 companies propping up the economy.
Theres to many potential crisis to list list, even the Mica Crisis about to expand into an estimated 12 counties and new estimates being put at β¬5 Billion, I remember being scoffed at when I initially said it would be β¬2.5 Billion. The Housing crisis now heating up with recent bizzare decisions, they've really and literally ran out of Idea's and now testing the waters Via Helen McEntee with notions of CP people's property, its just beggar's belief.
It may infact suit the 3 amigos to go to the back benches next time around, god help whomever has to clean up the mess.
Would it surprise anyone?
πππ
I've heard it described as a circus and now you have the Health Minister and Sec Gen of health refusing to go before the oireactas health committee to answer questions on the Holohan secondment.
Then you had Ryan on newstalk this morning saying that turf ban that was discussed in the Dail should have said 'Draft' on it. You really have to ask are they taking the p*ss now? How any right minded person with any sort morals or honesty can support this rubbish beggars belief.
Mother of Divine ****** you couldn't make it up π³
Whilst a seperate thread dealing with this Topic, the Arrogance is Breathtaking, " Exuding Confidence" before a Decision reached by the DPP seems ill advised IMO
You can see the FG tactics in this now coming out this weekend saying varadkar won't face charges attempting to out pressure on the DPP. As I said above all this has done is just drag politics in this country deeper into the sewer with no one coming out of this with their heads held high and especially not varadkar.
Their policies are working exactly as intended, why would they leave??
theres a cohort of population, whos wealth/purpose is entirely tied up in property values, all this leads to sucess and underpins the banks asset sheets,.......if you sit outside the richest 3% population, and are unaware of econmic effect of exporting money out from irish econmy (in reality, this was obvious 100 years ago to de valera).......
The fact they point to rising gdp in 2020,when entire country spent extended period under lockdown, they point to rising vat take as a success of inflation crisis, should say enough to anyone about what interests, they look out for,and it isnt the mythical small business owner,or "early rising workers"
I taught the notion of no charges,is premature
There would be certain value to "testing" the AG take on the legislation before high/supreme court and if deemed legit, this "loophole" needs closing out.....the fact we have a potential free reign for a taoiseach to carryon as ffg seem to assume is ok (brethtaking arrogance tbh)
,is a pretty massive blackmark on our "democracy" and would scupper any of their plans to jump into bed with nato
Something very odd going on. Not even the Gardai will comment any further and "Sources" within FG exuding confidence when the File has barely hit the DPP"s desk, Even MM using that well worn ClichΓ©,
"As it's with the DPP, I have to respect their Independence and it would be inappropriate to comment"
I'd like to say what I really think is going on here but will remain exceedingly cautious, so to speak,π
Incredible arrogance by both men. It absolutely stinks.
Will this be another 'our hands are tied' were people ready to shell out 2 mill a year of taxpayer money don't need to even answer questions, let alone be held accountable? Will the powers that be bother their barney rectifying this ability to refuse ongoing?
Yes, obviously.
Licence to print money and get away with even answering questions when called out.
The silence from the usual people is telling.
They think accountability is a word in Scrabble.
So what the fuuck was Ryan talking about when he said the turf ban was still going ahead?
Ryan is great at adding and taking away key words "It should have said draft. I should have put the word βdraftβ in front of it.β
Reminds me of the time the BBC agreed to put BBC 1 and BBC 2 on Saorview free to air as part of the Memorandum of Understanding, and Ryan who was Minister for Communications at the time announced it to great fanfare to the press and on the Green's website.
Then TV3 had a heated meeting with Ryan along the lines of (Why do we have to pay for carriage and the BBC don't?) and the following day he added the line to his BBC announcement on his website "On a paid for basis" scuttling the entire deal.
He has been asleep at the wheel for 20 years.
With Ryan who knows. I think he is just chancing his arm.
I think there could be some feisty interactions in the Dail this week. The government will be praying for no more screwups between now and the summer recess.
It's going to get very noisy , no end of debacles to be probed by the opposition π
