They also had plans for a victory parade through Kyiv (the Ukrainians discovered documentation about it).
You are very informative and I'd go along with what you said. That said I'd say it would be easy enough to replace the engine with electronics.
That engine say a two stroke would probably have a flywheel generating electricity for the flight. That's heavy plus fuel.
Great idea all the same it they take out any enemy.
anyone else think the Russians are bluffing? I dont think they have the army/navy left to over run the south
"Joe Biden gave Ukraine another $1.3 billion.
"We have the ability to do this for a long time." - Biden"
"Russians were so confident in the capture of Kiev that they even booked places in the capital's restaurants, said Alexei Arestovich.
He also revealed other plans of Putin's orcs - "patrols" near the Rada and the Cabinet, as well as the landing of helicopters in the capital Pechersk.
"The trick is what - they thought so seriously, really planned. It shows the depth of their separation from reality," says Arestovich."
I think both food and all pharmaceuticals should be embargoed. Let them go back to a Soviet era cold war diet.
South Park had a recent episode where they framed the current situation with 80s style Cold War movies 😂
What is a satisfactory outcome for Ukraine here, like in a dream, get everything you want kind of outcome?
Crimea, Donbas, Luhansk sure but they have suffered a lot, I think perhaps a few Russian provinces, belarus too?
I wonder with full western support and about 20 years if this is achievable, never again would Russia threaten anybody.
And Europe too, perhaps some oil fields that the Nazis tried so hard to reach in WW2. I believe they made some threats about Alaska, might be best to just annex Vladivostok. And let's not forget our poor japanese friends, there are a few Pacific islands I'm sure they'd finally like settled.
Anyone else want a piece?
An Irish st Patricksburg?
Do Boeing and Airbus only supply parts for specific airframes? If not then I'd imagine China and India would be happy to take a middleman's cut.
What's the problem???? Look, here's the certification, check them out and if any are missing, let us know.....the printer is still working!!!
Lol
Well the shoe does fit….
According to Russian media, only one sailor died when the Moskva went down - 396 were rescued safely and 27 are missing.
“Today we said goodbye to Ivan Leonidovich Vakhrushev. <...> Ivan Leonidovich died heroically. He led his team, led the sailors out when the fire started, then went down, drowned out the boiler room, but did not have time to get out himself. He accomplished a feat and saved the lives of hundreds of his colleagues, ”the text of a message published on Razvozhaev’s Telegram channel says.
Earlier that day, the Ministry of Defense announced the provision of assistance to the family of the deceased. The department also said that another 27 crew members were missing.

In this fairytale version, it sounds like Ivan flooded the ship himself.

Half the simpletons that support them don't even see the correlation between Sinn Féin and their socialist/quazi communist claptrap. The other half are just anti everything agitators.
When you look at Germany, Brexit, Trump, the rise of Le Pen and Sinn Féin, Putin has been quite a successful little bollòx in causing the west to eat itself. The fact that at least 50% of the population are total idiots helps.
They are using the definition derived from socialists and academics of Imperial countries.
Nationalism is a dirty word in England, France, America etc.
For obvious reasons. They have been in a lot of countries and nationalist fervour inflicted deep costs on them.
Once the war is over the retribution will be delivered with videos and back stories to the belligerents for all the world to see
That's a fair assessment.
I think some might be conflating nationalism with fascism or right-wingers in general which would be a bad take given that Irish nationalism has historically been a socialist endeavor and Scottish nationalism today wouldn't be considered right-wing by any stretch.
If your missues is as pleased with your horn as your shoe horn she'll be a very happy woman.
You can take the immigrant out of the country they supposedly hate but you cant take the country out of the immigrant
And we all know full well these Russians living outside of their country are only doing so because life is so much better outside of Russia when you have lots of stolen money behind you
looks like Russia is in first gear preparing for WW3 and they have their eyes on the prize of Novorossiya, the west had better gets its ass in gear, its in neutral right now
Seems to be a lot of support on Facebook etc for Russia.
Seems to be the sinn fein anti government crowd but as we know sinn fein are the most popular party in Ireland.
Interesting times ahead for little old Ireland.
It's extremely disappointing when the tide goes out and you realise that members of certain immigrant communities do not share pluralistic values with the host country whatsoever.
A similar thing happened around the Hong Kong repression in 2019. A counter-protest, likely coordinated by the Chinese embassy saw hundreds of Chinese immigrants staging what for all the world looked like a Cultural Revolution gathering. On social media I spotted one individual who I knew and would be buddy-buddy with the right-on brigade in left-of-centre circles. Sure enough, the person on Facebook was full-on "Uighur camps in Xinjiang are a Western media hoax", "Hong Kong protestors are self-hating Chinese and rioters paid by the CIA".
Really disappointing.
When THEY put CAPS in the TITLE, you know it's going to be rubbish.
No, banning things is exactly what the likes of Putin does. It they go ahead, just shame them. Surround them with Ukrainian flags.
Can this possible Russian "parade" be prohibited from happening?
There are also a few Ukrainians hare who could make it clear to them what an evil regime they support.
A sheer coincidence that (elements of) the Russian community get around to organising a Victory Day celebration for the first time deep in a fascistic war against a neighbour.
This isn't about remembering WW2. It's about a pretext for getting on the street waving Russian flags and hoping they won't get pelted with eggs while wrapping themselves in the cloak of 'the Great Patriotic War'.
Unlike their homeland, it's a free country and they can assemble as they wish as long as it's peaceful and doesn't incite hatred. I'd be giving them a piece of my mind if I happened upon it though.
They're not, or at least not officially according to very long standing international aero industry standards. Most of their fleet is internationally made aircraft, even their locally made aircraft have non Russian engines and flight systems. They're essentially beyond the Pale at the moment. So with their existing fleet without spares coming in they have to cannabalise parts from other aircraft. IE to keep say three Airbus or Boeing in the air they have to scrap one of them for spares. But that's unsustainable. If this were the 60's or 70's where all their aircraft were internally produced in the USSR this would be zero problem, but it's not and it is. Now they have the expertise to kick off internal production again, but that will take years to get back up and running and IMHO they don't have years. They barely have months. Even if this war was over tomorrow and sanctions were all lifted a large percentage of their fleet would be write offs internationally and no international leasing company would supply them with new ones, no lenders would supply them with the cash for new ones and international bodies would take a long time to sign them off as airworthy. Total clusterfúck for them.
Looks like Britain is considering sending the brimstone missile to Ukraine
Will make Russians think twice about sending landing ships to Odessa, however its also a highly classified missile,so you dont it to end up in the wrong hands, like the Russians.
It's easy to forget Sailorman that other than more local supporters, going agin the flow types, or bots(though IMHO these are overrated and are more a boogyman than reality) and Russians, there are many beyond the West that want to see the same West and the "great satan" America get its comeuppance or be destroyed. That includes enough from those places living in the West. Russia is currently fulfilling that wish/fantasy. The support for putin and Russia in this is pretty strong among the grassroots of places like India, much of Africa, places like China, the Middle East and the Muslim world a near given, a fair number in South America too.
They see putin as "East against the West". Clumsily and without any overview of history. The West, those colonial powers that empowered those feelings across the world were White Europeans, and later White European colonies like the US. Russia didn't create overseas empires like Spain, Holland, England, etc, simply because it was already an empire. Moscows nickname is "The Third Rome" and it's not so far off the truth(though I'd more see it as the second Byzantium). A White Western European empire that stretches from the Atlantic(or near enough) to the Pacific, from the polar ice to the subtropical, from frozen tundra to scorching desert with near uncountable forests and plains between them, the biggest nation on earth, where all the cash and power was and remains almost entirely concentrated in Western White European hands and cities(even in the eastern cities most of the power and wealth is in the European internal colonists) with all the hundreds of ethnic groups under them as vassals lorded over by regional governors and boyars.
IMHO this isn't "East versus West", it's far more about White Europeans fighting other White Europeans. Again. Just like "World" War One and "World" War Two, with non palefaced locals being dragged into both in service to the opposing powers(at least the Japanese and Chinese got in on that action in the sequel). The Cold War was the same again in the proxy wars fought by the West versus the Soviets for much of the 20th century. There was this quasi mutual agreement that Europeans wouldn't directly kick off against other Europeans, cos that's when shít gets real, so we'll let the Black, Brown and Yellow man do much of it for us with help and "advisors" from both sides to egg them on. Vietnam, Korea, South America, the Middle East and so forth.
If "World" War Three does or is kicking off it'll be the same again and again IMHO this is why beyond the whataboutery regarding wars in the ME, Africa and why didn't the world go nuts about them!! is interesting and important to look at. Those conflicts in the majority of cases didn't directly involve Europeans or ex European colonies going at each other. Ukraine and Russia does and that's about the biggest reason on so many levels why this conflict matters more and for more people, because shít has just gotten real. Again.
I'm sure I read a Twitter thread recently saying these internal Russian air flights are taking place illegally under international law. They don't have the certification or clearance to fly commercial flights (as the planes are now at risk of crashing). It might explain why Moscow Airport is empty, even the locals know the things are potential death traps.
