Syrian rebels 2015,tow missiles are wire guided so they wander a bit before you get on target,or so it seems from behind.
Its SACLOS guided
Ukraine have stugna P,works the same way, only its uses a laserbeam
I have a feeling Odessa will be a hard nut to crack, not least in selling blowing it to bits to the Russian people. Odessa has a lot of cultural and familial links with ordinary Russians. Even beyond in the West. Bugger all would have recognised the name Mariupol a year ago, but many more would have recognised the name of Odessa. I'd not be surprised if they went around it, if they get that far. If I was running the invasion that's what I'd do. Perimeter it, but bypass it, avoid my own losses and bad optics and drive to take the transport links and other infrastructure all the way to Transnistria.
russian spokesperson (according to gaurdian uk) have announced their plan to take all of south ukranine up to and including moldovan transinstra where as usual russians are being "oppressed" ..
at this stage the baltic countries must be extremely concerned about their beloved russian minorities ....
I'll go a bit further -
One couldn't help but notice the use of an unorthodox phrase which, although creative, belies a certain peculiarity in a decision making process which, in my opinion, discarded the well established phrase, "non-existent", a little too hastily.
It rather leads one to query the validity of the remainder of the sentence.
Slava Ukraini
I maybe wrong, but wouldnt that include stealing territory from Moldova?
at the rate they're going, they should accomplish that mission by the year 2877
If only one could get a strand of it and have it analysed...
If you could get close enough for that, then you'd be close enough to stab or shoot the fecker.
No known hitman barbers spring to mind though 😄
Yes, they could 'Groznify' it but going in is suicide. De Caprio sent 10m in aid because his grandmother is from Odesa.
Ukraine should ask the west for high presision missiles to take out the bridges around Kherson, at least that will slow them down.
Moldova now has a choice to make to join the war or try to appease Putin by staying neutral.
A Red Cross was a bad choice, even to use as a marker.... a big X ( or Z ) would have been better. There' s far too many Red Cross marked vehicles hit every year as it is. And the engine sounded like a chainsaw engine......you can hear them 3 fields away. Have they a battery powered version, or at least a more silent engined one? Aside from that though it seems to work pretty well.
Speculation about Putin's physical state continues...
The master plan unfolds-
Full control over Donbas, land corridor to Crimea and control over South of Ukraine in order to connect with previously occupied by RU Transnistria – announced plans of current military activities of Russia
Odd, could have sworn it was about fighting "Nazi-ism", not gaining territory. The "special operation" objectives sure do change a lot.
Hopefully that puts an end to the Putin apologists (including the far left and the far right in Ireland) who claimed that Putin was merely taking "defensive" measures and was provoked into war by NATO. This is an expansionist war, Hitler style, with the regime trying to seize territory that has nothing to do with Russia and over which it has no claim.
That's what makes it "Special". Any old operation can have a fixed objective.
Just before the start of the invasion, the Ukrainian authorities must have at least suspected that the Russians would advance from both the separatist-controlled eastern area and Crimea towards Mariupol. So why didn't the Ukrainian authorities tell the civilians of Mariupol to leave the city before the Russians could encircle it?
Well no battle plan survives contact with the enemy but useful to know what the objective is anyway...
Its their home so why should be the ones to leave?!
That is missing a wing with only the main spar left. And the rest is a bit floppy so more is broken. If they can make a new wing and have a spair aeleron controller and it's not using an encrypted comms and and many other ifs, it might be reusable. More likely for spare parts or a souvenir.
Got encircled quite quickly. Even as Kyiv was being surrounded, an estimated half the population still remained there. Many Ukrainians have remained in e.g. Kherson which is Russian occupied.
"Full control over Donbas, land corridor to Crimea and control over South of Ukraine in order to connect with previously occupied by RU Transnistria – announced plans of current military activities of Russia"
And after 2 or 3 years when they rebuild Russian Army (with great help of their best friends from Germany and France) they will try to beat Ukraine again..
Interesting spin being put out by the Russian war machine now. This from the guy who announced today that southern Ukraine is now the target. Looks they're framing it as the whole of Europe and the whole world being out to 'get' Russia:
"He also drew a historical parallel between today's events and the times of the Second World War. “Apparently, we are now at war with the whole world, as it was in the Great Patriotic War, the whole of Europe, the whole world was against us. And now it's the same, they never liked Russia,” said Mr. Minnekaev."
Japan has described four disputed islands as “illegally occupied” by Russia for the first time in nearly two decades amid deteriorating relations over the war in Ukraine.
The islands, which Moscow calls the Kurils and Tokyo the Northern Territories, have been held by Russia and claimed by Japan.
looks like russia - japan relationship in serious nose dove at the moment with russians claiming an inalienable right to japans islands
They need someone want to blame for their internal problems
500 subtract 60 comes to 440 missing aka dead
they are officially still war since WW2, humanity is fooked
"... And now it's the same, they never liked Russia's child raping, genocidal ways,” said Mr. Minnekaev."
Filling in some context for him
who knows germany might give the go ahead to nord stream 2 again like they did after the 2014 invasion
With complete seriousness, I think Ukraine, Taiwan and Australia should pool their efforts in Australia to develop nuclear weapons. One thing the US just isn't going to do or make headway on is telling Australia not to, as they simply couldn't afford the possible repercussions.
