The takeaway:
"If you're confused, it means you're paying attention; military analysts with decades of experience watching Russia and writing up documents on what the Russian military can and can't do are even more confused than you are."
Which is good in one respect as means that they can't destroy the bunkers in the plant. Still ties up those Russian forces from doing anything else as well as they have to sit out the siege.
Can anything be done to drop any food or water into the plant though to keep them going, a few extra rounds of ammunition in the middle of some loaves of bread wouldn't do any harm either.
Uh-huh, sounds familiar...
"But I wanted to come to the Volga, to a definite place, to a definite city. It accidentally bears the name of Stalin himself [...] I wanted to take it. And do you know, we're modest: that is, we have it; there are only a couple of very small places left there. Now the others say: Why aren't you fighting there? Because I don't want to make a second Verdun but would rather do it with very small shock units. Time plays no part here."
- Adolf Hitler (Speech in Munich, November 1942
Those ultimatums being delivered to the defenders were starting to sound like, "And if you ignore this ultimatum, we'll...give you another one."
I have little doubt but that if some other state launched a nuclear strike on Russian territory that the chain of command would work swiftly.
But that's not going to be the case in the forseeable. The question is how this chain of command would function where the order is for Russia to use a nuclear device as an offensive tactic and is the aggressor. That's a hugely different matter for anyone in that chain of command.
You must surely appreciate the degree of difference.
Maybe more a case of keeping your enemies close!
Sanctions are biting in moscow, look at how that table has shrunk

Threatens NATO? Pfff...nato can end the Russians in a matter of days. They could end this war easily if it were not for the nuclear threat.
That will be because China and India are in that group and accounts for a major block of the world population.
From what I read about this earlier, they're not off the shelf drones, but hexa- and octo-copters custom made from off the shelf components. It was a group of students iirc who were making them, and they also made the 3D printed find to fit to the munitions. A small consumer drone would probably not be able to carry the weight if think.
Sorry, your "army" was made a show of by farmers for the majority of this war.
NATO are a lot more well equipped than farmers.
That show and those like it are some oddball incomprehensible fantasist thing on Russian media and have been just as daft before this war kicked off. That it's apparently popular in Russia is even more incomprehensible.
If it is only 14 percent the plain fact is it's the vast majority of the part of the world population that matters economically, politically and militarily. Of the rest China matters, but it's sitting on the fence and that 14 percent are far more economically important to them than Russia is.
Should be banned, round the feckers up
short term -3 days. That was the hope . Medium term - a week. Long term - 2 months . Very very long term - 2months +
Haven't checked the 14%, but check the world GDP and the sanctioning countries GDP and its going to be a lot more relevant. India and China effectively have a third of the world population, but relatively poor per person.
I know who Russia would rather trade with.
And this is exactly what I said weeks ago, if NATO didn't put a stop to Putin in Ukraine then he would only be emboldened. And here we are, the threats are starting to fly via proxy. We have a chance right now to finish off the Russian army on Ukrainian soil and put this episode to bed. If Putin attacks a NATO country then Russia itself will need to be attacked and at that stage all bets are off on what happens next. The window is there to show the power of NATO. It needs to be taken and it needs to be devastating, without directly threatening the Russian state.
BUT who started the fire and WHY was it started?
Jeffrey Sachs writes that only 14 per cent of the world population are in countries sanctioning Russia. If correct, then most of the world doesn't care about what happens in Ukraine despite what we are lead to believe in the west.
So, Frito, what you are essentially saying is that all those involved, eg US , Germany, Poland, Latvia re arms supply and all those providing soft supports eg food, cash , accommodation for refugees SHOULD PULL BACK and let them at it ie Ukrainian gov/army and Russia. Then , next stop Moldavia in the morning and Poland in the afternoon . Take the weekend off and then maybe Latvia ?
The body language is some of those videos is fascinating. The panel members cannot possible believe what they are saying.
Go on Russia please attack NATO, show them what you got. Plenty of big statements by Russia now let's see some action show us what you got. Moscow is a lovely city, St Peterburgs is a lovely city. Be such a shame to bomb these cities back to the stone age.
^^^ meanwhile, on Russian state TV 'We now bring you some light relief with a fantasy special.'
Love your man talking in a low, (feigned) barely controlled voice as if it makes what he is saying less moronic.
Always more interesting to see how awkward the rest of the panel look when he speaks.
I wonder how much harsher can they get! 🤔
We had a taster of what a Russian victory would look like in Bucha and it already involves mass graves. Ukraine has to fight because a lot of people will end up being "disappeared" by the Russian fascist if they are allowed to win.
I also firmly believe Russia will be stopped and defeated by the Ukrainians. It will come at some cost but I believe they are the stronger and more motivated force.
Russia simply doesn't have infinite resources or troops. This isn't 1944.
Russia is not functioning day by day week by week a bit more. It's people are also not like they were in 1944. They have a breaking point. We aren't yet seeing the extent of that.
Partizan Belgrade fans at the Belgrade Derby a few days ago. Sickening.
If left to their own devices Russia are well prepared to produce mass graves. Pretty sure that has made the news, so no excuses.
Hitler had no regard for Slavic people and viewed them as sub human and in all likelihood would have continued the final solution on them when he was done with the Jews. There was no place for Slavic people in the third reich. Lebensraum called for huge ranch like farms ran by Germans in the east. It was living space for German people there was no mention of integrating Slavic people into Germany. At best the Slavic people would have been enslaved on these farms or driven east to Siberia. At worst the death camps would have just continued until all undesirables had been taken care of. At least with Stalin if they submitted to the Soviet Union and kept their head down and proved their loyalty to the regime they had some future. Hitler would have condemned them because of their non Aryan lineage regardless.
