Sort of on this subject I read this a few days ago:
Seems like the Chinese "neutral, but godspeed Russia/Putin!" position on Ukraine war + Xi warning about how Europeans should not be clients of the US and be good friends of China etc. went down like a plate of cold sick. Am hopeful more of our politicians will begin to get it, which is a start.
Even if politicians get it, that doesn't mean it will sink in with business leaders or enough of us joe soaps before it is too late, but all we can do is hope I suppose.
Looks like a **** Storm is brewing in Berlin.
Interesting how Russia attacked Ukraine after successful development of s550 missile defense system. The only kinetic missile defense system in the world, meaning mutually assured destruction may no longer assured and it has hypersonic s too.
Clearly waiting your time so
I was all on the fence of the Germans holding back etc.. but the evidence seems to be pretty damning of more than just being reserved about their economy.
Its all just really odd.
Sounds like a great idea. Get the mirror reflection melter thing too for continuity at night.
I'll put it this way, if we can't supply power while such a system is being built industry will go bankrupt...
Trying to be an edgelord, because nobody ever thought of that before...
Reading several military analysts on social media this evening and none of them think Putin can win in the East. The Russians have nowhere near enough manpower to force Ukraine back and take the Donbass - they would probably need several hundred thousand more men to achieve this.
But interestingly, some analysts think that even if Putin was to announce general mobilisation in Russia and to declare war on Ukraine, there's no guarantee even this would work (as the Ukrainians would still be putting up the most ferocious fight and are very well armed and motivated).
So they've killed Zeus knows how many Ukrainian civilians and three Russian soldiers. Have they ever managed to kill any Ukrainian soldiers? Or is that just not their thing?
Hopefully Bild breaking news is finally the downfall of Scholz and his government
we are now in the midst mother of all arms races, the West will be playing catch up
Or force the d1ck to actually act.
An edge lord? Fecking hell you guys are some cringefest.
'I hate Russia the most'
'No I hate Russia, Germany, France and the EU''
'I have military experience so I know what's going on (3 summers in the FCA)'
'I hate Putin so much I've written a poem about it'
It's pathetic. You don't even keep up to date on events. If Donjoe wasn't throwing in a few retweets ye wouldn't even know what was going on.
I know Putin doesnt follow international laws and treatys and they are good at deception and propaganda as well.
However as seen in the past with T14 Armata and Su57 and other project that never seen mass production, and i suspect this is the case with their socalled hypersonic missiles as well, and will be case with RS 28 Sarmat, espesially now when they are hit by sanctions.
Having 10 RS 28 Sarmat can offcourse do alot of damage, but wont help much when NATO have 20 times the amount with Trident missiles and minutmen and they are being upgraded and maintained regulary.
I dont think Russia does
Russia do need high grade semi conductors to make these missiles and others, and they wont be producing much now under sanctions.
That RS 28 Sarmat was just for showing off and same was the hypersonic missile they used in Ukraine.
Another thing is anti ballistic missile defence where NATO and US is lightyears ahead of Russia.
Thats why both Russia and China are doing so much research into hypersonic missiles,to get around these defences
I still think he is bluffing
I wonder what the feelings of the average German (i.e the voters) is in all this, that's all that will really matter.
The rouble is being artificially propped up by the Russian central bank and their currency controls. Basically, they are buying rouble when and where they can to prop up it's value, they are also punishing those who sell it (where possible). They can do this in the short term because they have foreign reserves, unfortunately many of their reserves (hundreds of billions worth) are blocked so they won't be able to do it indefinitely. Check back in 6 months to a year on the value of the rouble.
As for the switch to BRICs countries, indeed, to a certain level. With gas, one of Russia's key exports, it won't be until 2025 that they will have the infrastructure to sell much larger quantities to China, and even then it will only be a fraction of what they currently sell to Europe.
The EU is reliant on Ru oil and gas now. However that's changing for obvious reasons, the Germans expect to reduce reliance by 80% this year, and I'd say by next year there will be a significant drop across the board.
Most of the world's richest countries are not just sanctioning Russia, they are using import controls, restrictions, industry boycotts, the world's largest shipping container companies no longer do business with Russia, Boeing and Airbus have pulled out meaning Russia can no longer service the leased aircraft they've stolen, this is all just the tip of the iceberg. In the short-term, they look "fine", however we can see all the red flags already. The situation in 1 to 2 years will be very interesting. It doesn't matter how much a country floats on oil/gas (cough, Venezuela), when the sanctions hit and wealthiest economies in the world stop doing business with them, not good for the medium/long term.
How the hell did Ukraine lose $200m of military hardware in the first place?!
"The UN? We no longer recognise them", wouldn't be surprised if that will be Russia's response:-
What exactly is Scholz up to? Has Putin got info on him or something? His behaviour this week is downright weird.
Sorry, not interested. Take your trolling elsewhere.
Is the Irish press systematically lying about Ukraine, is the world's press doing that?
If so, what is it. If no, then your "concerns" are ill-founded.
Excalibur might face problems since its GPS guided, and Russia have some powerfull gps jammers, however copperheads might be better option,i do believe the Bayraktars and the new drones from the US,predators will have this capability with laser designators.
Besides laser designators can be used by ground troops as well
But all these shells also comes with a high price, they are very expensive,so i guess they wont be used to often unless its high value targets
You have to remember too 8 years ago the Minsk and Minsk 2 agreements that Russia repeatedly broke to grab more ground in eastern Ukraine , each time Russia only wanted to deal with the Germans and french ,at one point Russia wanted ukraine removed from peace talks about what was happening in their own country,
Germany and the french should never be thrusted with anything to do with ukraine ,I beginning to think the Nato should reconsider what role the Germans play in the organization ,
Why would Putin need info on him? Maybe the man just doesn't want to escalate this madness any further? Maybe he doesn't want to get dragged step by step into a war with Russia that has the potential for nuclear escalation? Maybe all this isn't actually in Germany's (or anyones but the US) interest?
Are people so anti-Russia war crazy brainwashed that they have lost all perspective what further escalation could lead to? wtaf?
That would be fine in theory but if he is literally lying about what weapons Germany has available, that's quite a different matter. Many other countries such as the Netherlands are sending heavy armaments to Ukraine without difficulty.
Germany should absolutely not be pressured into further escalation and further involvement whatsoever. The Ukrainians in their ongoing demands towards Germany backed by NATO front media start to become insufferable. There is a historical background wrt Germany and Russia for starters and secondly this is not Germany's war. Germany is way too deep in it already. It should have never come to this.
The Ukrainian government have let themselves being made a pawn by the US and now they try to drag the world into WW3. This has to stop before its too late.
"Escalation", "Ukrainian demands".......you're drifting into the pro-Putin line here.
Putin is good at one thing, ill give him that, brainwashing his own people
Thanks for the update Putin. And now back to Lavrov for the weather.
How would you call it?
That Ukrainian ambassador to Germany is insufferable. Yes they aren't asking for stuff they are demanding stuff. And delivering heavy armament is an escalation.
How is calling a spade a spade a pro-putin line?
