good news.
Worth mentioning that the 20% cut is only for the rest of 2022
I'm delighted to hear that they have confirmed that the 90 minute ticket will be €2:
"However, the introduction of a 20% discount on all PSO fares means that this fare will be reduced to €2.00 in 2022, offering significant value for bus passengers"
That is a very good value for the 90 minute ticket and I believe it will help drive take up of public transport, specially if they advertise it widely.
I hope they will keep it at €2 for at least a couple of years and instead increase the cost of the short fare gradually, until we have one flat fare, which would help speed up boarding times, etc.
No IE
According to this, the Intercity rail web fares were reduced from April 11:
It is hard to tell as they don't show the reduction on the website, but from what I can see looking at the Cork to Dublin train, they certainly look to be around 20% cheaper then usual.
I can see a few options of €13 wLimerick to Dublin which I think had disappeared but €5 Limerick to Clare is definitely down 20% since last week.
No, I'm talking about Irish Rail.
Not the low fares.
Dublin-Kerry was €24.99 before the reduction.
Dublin-Kerry remains €24.99 after the reduction.
Same applies to Dublin-Cork and Dublin-Limerick low fares.
I'm not so familiar with other routes but it looks to me that the low fares on Dublin-Galway/Waterford/Sligo have been reduced.
Dublin-Limerick low fares are down on a few limited trains.
No, they're not from what I can see. The low fare for the 9:00 ex-Dublin and 17:50 ex-Limerick was already €12.97. Have the receipts to prove it!
Ah fair enough. I thought those €12.97 fares had disappeared last year.
Is leap card capping also being reduced?
Yes as per page 25 of the fares determination report.
A plus for some isolated areas
Department of Transport has today announced emergency bus services for Ukrainian refugees placed in rural areas. It will fast-track a series of network improvements including extra bus stops, route changes and more services.. the NTA will provide supplementary transport connections to local centres. "As we continue to welcome individuals and families arriving in Ireland from Ukraine, a once-off Community Transport Fund will also be established to support occasional social travel requests." https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2022/0421/1293435-ireland-ukraine/
No reduction in Leap card fares on Cork commuter it appears. No idea why they haven't applied it but tickets online are reduced making them much cheaper than Leap!
The reduction in LEAP rail fares is coming on Monday next, 9th May.
anyone know does the 20% reduction count for the dublin bus leap card caps as well? it's €7 now for a day, hoping it goes down to about 5.50
DB only cap is 5.60 a day / 22 a week from next Monday.
that's class, any source for that? 27.50 currently is a bit much & just awkward
Page 25 of the NTA fares determination report as I already quoted in relation to caps above!

Pretty stupid IMO that the daily/weekly caps should still vary depending on modes used, now that we have the standard T90 fare that is mode-agnostic.
There are also huge difference in annual and monthly ticket prices based on mode. Which they haven't even narrowed in the most recent review, when the previous one a few years ago made a start at it.
cheers, sorry for the repeat question, was new to the thread!
looking through that now, one thing i found off was that 19-23 year olds now need personalized photo leap cards.
dont think anyone really knows this yet, wonder how this will work since it's supposed to be starting next week?
The current student leap card (also personalised with your photo) will still be valid for any 19-23 year olds currently in college. They can also avail of the young adult leap card if they prefer. Mature students can of course still avail of the 50% student reduction through the current student leap card as well.
19-23 year olds not currently a student would have to separately apply for the young adult card to still avail of the fairs.
New fares from the 9th
Is this a mistake? Child TFI U19 but Cash U16. Why people can't make a poster without a typo?
It's been like that since child fares were extended to U19s in 2014. You need a personalised Leap card issued against some sort of proof of age to get a child fare at 16-18. The Leap card automatically expires at 19.
Without the personalised Leap card, it's cash adult fares from 16 as it was pre-2014.
Have students tickets been cut?
