Not in Finland!!
I love Finland......
That house could be made absolutely beautiful. It and its surroundings has bags of potential and would make a great project for the right person.
Is my brain not working or is something unusual here?
Here's the advert for the house. https://www.daft.ie/for-sale/detached-house-4-saint-martins-hanover-road-carlow-town-co-carlow/3786059
Here's the front of the house with the bay window.
And here's the view looking out of the window.
Is there a crooked wall splitting the bay window in two or do I need to go off to Specsavers?
The blurb says a partition wall was build to make "to smaller living rooms". Not two, to.
The bigger question is why? Maybe a couple split up and were waiting until prices increased so they could sell?
Yeah the room must be split in two. Why on earth would you do that.
They don't seem to show the other side, this could be it, but I think this is the same room as above from the window.
Wonder if they wanted to convert into 2 apartments?
Your brain is fine. Not the first time I've seen a room split in two this way.
Can see it through the window on street view. Bizarre

Actually looking at how close it is to Carlow IT, I can speculate as to why they wanted as many rooms as possible in it
They'll be waiting a while to get that price for it.
Marky Mark selling his LA home. I do wonder where someone like would move to, and his family is only there since about 2014 at the earliest.
Inside Mark Wahlberg’s $87 Million Beverly Park House – DIRT
It does seem pricey alright - way better houses out there for that price.
There's something really bleak about that house.
celebrities buy or build these places and then realise that the running costs are astronomical, often running into 100s of thousands a month (staff, gardeners, etc etc) the smart ones get out when prices are high and before they get lumbered with it as their earnings fade. You need serious serious wealth to keep a place like that going.
One featured in the Irish Times this morning, 8 bedrooms in the grounds of Adare Manor. Price tag of 3.5m but can't seem to find any pics online other than IT.
do you gave a link to the IT article?
that price doesn't seem outrageous. 16,501 sq ft is HUUUUUGE.
And isn't property tax like an extra mortgage (in certain states) forever
some of them are crazy high. Up to 2.5% of the property value per year.
yes exactly.
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/383641676945966 - We're well and truely fecked. €2,500 a month for a crappy looking mobile home in Dublin.
THIS IT ??

Wow!
Love that there's slabs of cans in the wine cellar
That is a fab house.
I never understood the need for the split/ double stairs in a residential property though.
Remember the two Jacks bathroom house (side by side) a couple of weeks ago? Saw it on FB and turns out it was a playschool hence two toilets.... Still not sure why side by side though
His and hers.
.
Used to be a playschool.
Probably one for the boys and one for the girls. Boys wouldn't bother lifting the seat and the girls didn't fancy sitting on the boys' wee.
That Adare house is stunning. The staircase is giving me major von Trapp from the Sound of Music vibes.
Is it bad that I noticed the Ikea stool in the kitchen and thought less of the owners for it? I have one of those stools, rich people shouldn't need to shop at Ikea.
"I never understood the need for the split/ double stairs in a residential property though."
Seems like a massive waste of space. Although, looking through those pictures, it seems there is a lot of space wasted in that house. The price doesn't seem to expensive for what it is, but who would live there? It seems far too big to me, even if you brought a gaggles of kids (who would have to be extra careful around the place) with you.
its 16,000 sq feet so its not so much wasted space as too much space i guess.
