Good point. Russia should do this with the CSTO. They couldn't rely on Belarus or Kazakhstan to back them up in the invasion.

Sweden is not neutral. Ireland is not neutral. Finland is not neutral. We are all militarily neutral, purely by virtue of not contributing to a military budget, but we are not neutral from a political standpoint….we all take sides clearly and firmly. There’s a difference.
joining NATO would be purely a defensive move and though would require some military budget, it doesn’t change Sweden’s stance one iota

Iirc the last time Russia stepped foot on Finnish soil, they were trapped in a bottleneck and the Finnish snipers had to get counselling for depression caused by killing so many of them

Germany has a remarkable ability to end up on the wrong side of history. It was clear that Schroeder was compromised by Russia. There was belief that the Saudis had compromised Merkel (the embassy is beside the CDU Church, was she talking to much, did the Saudis have ears in the church?).
I don't understand how Germany has remarkably turned themselves into a country that is to be trusted. When they have show right up to the last couple of decades that they are not to be trusted. They have never been trustworthy. They only act in their own short to medium term interests.

It really sickens me seeing these Russians living in free countries with all the benefits that brings out waving flags etc in support of Putin .Most if not all would have a fairly crap life back at home under their great strong ruler .Any business run by these should not be supported by any right thinking person or company.

What I do have context on is the troll accounts spreading it like wild fire. So to me it's definitely inflated based on that.
While the Russian flag waving is abhorrent at this time it’s not illegal - however I firmly believe combining it with the Z is- it’s definitely an incitement to hatred
I think Peskov, Zakharova and Lavrov have all stated at one stage or another that there will be consequences for Sweden (and Finland) joining NATO, various forms of threats have been made or implied, will be interesting to see what the actual response from Russia will be.

What is a "win" in your opinion? Nobody is winning in this war. Putin has already lost (no subservient Ukraine after a quick "operation"). Ukraine won't be able to take Moscow, now would it? If Ukraine can take back all the ground lost this year, that would be a fantastic win. Is it possible? Yes, because anything can happen. Putin can die, or get deposed, or Russia may run out of willing soldiers (a Russian soldier can refuse to get re-deployed in Ukraine, the participation is voluntary).
Absolutely about the z sign if they are out with this tripe back home that is bad enough but to be carrying on like that abroad where are enjoying a much better life is the bit that really gets me .
