Can we all just acknowledge how funny it us seeing trump supporters use the word "woke" everywhere? While clearly not having a clue what it means and simultaneously trying to make it into something it's not, it's not the reds under the bed anymore (well the trumpeters are there with them and their best friend putin) it's the imaginary woke person who's going to make them cry.

Here's the thing. Nobody is trying to stop the teaching of those things. They are just trying to delay it until the kids are a bit older and better able to process it.
If a kid from the class gets raped and murdered, there's a way to shield the rest of the kids from knowing about it until they are older. You can easily distract them at that age by changing the subject. Nobody will get hurt or have their prospects diminished. It's not denying something happened, it's just about trying to prolong their innocence a bit longer. At that age they have invisible friends and they think giraffes can fly to the moon.
You can view it as homophobic or you can view it as protecting kids innocence until they are 8 years old.

In fact it's a pretty positive thing to know, particularly to avoid those children being subject to bullying over it.

Meanwhile my nephews who are five and seven are perfectly aware of gay people. They have not been emotionally scarred and it's had no negative impact on them.

I get frustrated when people are disingenuous, asking for "proof" when they are really not interested in trying to learn something new, they are just using it as a spoiling tactic to try and muddy the waters. You've effectively rejigged some anti gay marriage arguments and started making some false equivalences. Next up is slippery slopes?

Again, if children know about male-female relationships, there's no difference in even just acknowledging same-sex relationships. Not as a positive, not as a negative, but simply acknowledging they exist, because odds are several of the children will have gay people in their family.
Children should not be taught about anything sexual until an appropriate age. Acknowledging LGBT people exist is not teaching them anything sexual, no more so than acknowledging heterosexual relationships.
