My take on it is that a lot of them are right wing Russian nationalists who look down with contempt on all their neighbours in the East. Putin knows his audience and how they think (why these nationalists would choose to live in the West though is anyone's guess, seeing as they are so in love with the idea of dictatorship and Russia being the 'master race').
