Had a fr heifer calf born this morning in cubicle shed. Cow due 15th January. I served a few in early April as I was penalised for not supplying enough milk last January. A sexed mo salah calf. All good. Best of luck for calving 2022
Thanks tanko, will give him a shot so this season. Yep, this KJB was 11 days over.
That's a lovely calf Tellmeabit, as is the calf in the back ground..
Ya off LIS-NA-RI GUCCI
Bull. May try a few more SIM this year
Had a cow go from no waterbag or even pushing to up licking the calf in under 5 mins yesterday. Must AI her to something big this year. Her mother once calved a full breach before.
Eby bull born yesterday from a Dbz first calver.
Calf born dead this evening. She wasn't due for 30 days. No signs this morning and all of a sudden around 4 o clock she started pushing, water bag came out at 6 and we pulled but calf was dead. Nice sized claddagh Mccabe bull. Sickner it is. Maybe should have went in when she started pushing at 4 but probably dead anyway.
Thats a sickner, had the same here 3 weeks ago.Went to feed cows one morning and there was a little limo bull calf in the slats a full month early.Tiny little fecker, had to tube him for 4 days before he could suck.Hes out the field with the cow now still only half the size he should be but Hardy out.Dont know if he'll ever come to anything but he's alive at least
That's a sickner alright. Was it a pedigree cow? How much were the straws?
No a commercial, would have been a cracker. That's the way it goes. Have a cow at 300 days to hurricane gonzo, she would want to calve fairly lively to lift the mood.
That's a sickner alright, but when she came early and you had to pull the calf then something went wrong before this evening. That was outside your control..
Well, this cow just calved there now. That ends my wondering if she was incalf or not. Fine Gamin (ZGM) bull. Was hoping for a heifer as she is a great cow.
How things swing around again. Got a claddagh Mccabe heifer calve from a Beguin x blonde cow tonight. Calved unassisted from a favourite cow of mine. You don't be long forgetting
I've a 3rd time calver that's 18 days over, she is a tidy cow now but looks big at the mo. Calf still moving inside. Should I wait on on her or chance the vet for a shot? Bull is ch2218. Only used him once before carried 14 days and a bit of a pull. This cow would be smaller
I think giving that shot is really a last resort if there’s a problem with the cow, it can cause problems like retained cleanings, she’ll calve when she’s ready to, he’s not hard calved. When was she Ai’ed?
How much are the Cladagh McCabe straws?
Look of love right there and from me too. Lovely Tomschoice Lexicon PB heifer calf born this morning. Mammy has piles of milk and the wee one is as hardy as they come. Great result
Dovea AA5373 heifer calf from Aa heifer today. Nothing easy calve with this angus. Gave her a hand at 6am, crubs out since 5am, tongue was out also. She's only 2 year to the day. Loads milk, she should do good job on her.
Not sure she would have got her out herself? About pint fluid came out calf when I got her out. Slow to suck for angus also, lost patience after 2 hr and just tubed in 3 L.
€12 i think
That's a serious shape and muscle for an angus.
Ya think so. Not hard calved which is great. Will have to get a few more.
Yep, he's down as medium sized bull on the catalogue, first time I had him. Next 2 to calve are muscley lim's heifers and both have him also. 😐
8 cows, red, black, brown Swiss and white speckle park bulled by the stock Limo bull. And the last calf off him below off a speckle park cow.
three heifers left. One BA in calf to AI red Angus and two in calf to neighbours short horn… they will be the tough one.
edit: spider calves again.
Lovely stock kollegeknight, he is a good bull.
12 June
Ya only ever given to a cow that was down and in effort to aid cow and calf
Dairy men have suggested it to me locally.
Ya he isn't but he was the hardest pull I've had to help with this year 1st cow calved. Will let her be. What's the longest a cow would go?
According to my Ai man last week, there gone up to €20
What calves are you most happy with this year and what sire?
That is a very long gestation alrite. The longest ive ever seen is 9 months and 31 days which would be three more days for your cow. She must be near calving, much sign of her? I suppose you could ask your vet what they think.
10 first calvers to go, lovely bull calf off heiffer, sucking in a few min, lovely when they work out
Indeed, got me thinking about crossing a few, any recommendations for a beefy Angus to cross with 2nd & 3rd calvers from progressive genetics?
An ya, she is softening the last week or more. Think first sign of milk coming into her yesterday. Calf is active inside.
I think I had one or 2 go over 300 days last year but would be good sized cows now.
